Best casting rod for $80-$100
I recently purchased a Fenwick HMG 7' mh f. $70 on eBay from seller FFO. I'm pretty happy with it. I think they can be found in stores for around $100

Booyah Spinnerbaits
I've had a really good smallie bite on a booyah pond magic 3/16 Willow. They do bend out easily. I read somewhere to put a split ring over the r bend to keep it from spreading apart. Haven't tried it yet but I can't figure out what keeps it from just sliding up the line.

First boat
I'm on Craigslist so much that spotting scam adds is almost second nature. Lol

Tubes
I've been using el cheapo arky tube jigs from Walmart because I tend to break off alot in root balls and rock crevices. I have experimented some with using plain worm hooks and casting weights stuffed in the nose of the tube. I would like to try the stupid rig but haven't invested in the proper jigs yet. Weightless was far to slow sinking for me. Especially in current

Second Biggest Smallmouth I have caught
Nice fish. Does look kind of odd doesn't it.

New pb win or fail you choose
This is why I rarely take my lab fishing anymore. She always wants to play with the lures, and the fish. And she's jumped ship to chase a squirrel before. My worst fear is that she will catch a treble hook when I'm trying to unhook a fish.

First boat
I think the challenge with that Lowe would be finding a remote 10hp. I looked at Craigslist in your area and all I found was tiller motors. Just out of curiosity, how do people operate on a 10hp restricted lake? Is it idle speed only or are people running around full speed in little aluminum jons? There aren't any hp restricted lakes around me. Plenty of electric only, idle speed only and 10 mph limit though.

Careful with the tracker. That add looks scammy to me.

How do you figure that sun dolphin to be more portable than a 12 Jon? When I looked into the sun dolphin and bass raider type boats I was surprised how much they weigh. What kind of 12 Jon are you running?

Time For Another Boat
You should look up the weight of the boats you're considering as well as the towing capacity of your explorer. Also check the rating on your hitch. Whichever is the lower number is your limit. Also pay attention to the max hitch weight.

Will my car battery charger work for trolling motor battery?
Yessir it automatically goes into float mode after the battery is charged. If you read the literature on the charger I believe they call it maintain mode.

Fishing a fast flowing river.
Too fish a fast river, you fish the parts that aren't fast. Deeper pools in front of and behind the riffles, eddies on the sides and behind any current break.

More Jigs or Crankbaits
Guess I'm bassackwards. I have probably close to 100 crankbaits. Maybe only 20 jigs. Well skirted jigs anyway... Not that I need that many of either.

Will my car battery charger work for trolling motor battery?
Again. You do not want a battery tender for recharging deep cycles. It's fine for maintaining charge during non use periods but that's it. The blue schumaker auto charger that has been linked here a couple times has an automatic float charge that will maintain a battery the same as that battery tender. It also has a 15amp charge cycle for regular recharging. For maximum life of the battery you will want to keep it indoors at least above freezing.

Favorite topwater?
Whopper plopper 90 bluegill. Caught my personal best smallie on this just recently.

Will my car battery charger work for trolling motor battery?
Not sure how much you were able to follow that largemouth21. But you do not want that trickle charger. Way2slow is right on the money. The blue 15amp schumaker charger is what you want. I totally understand what you mean about being from a family that doesn't spend money on things. That's how I grew up too. Took me a while to come around but having nice things and doing things the right way is just easier and better than messing with junk all the time. I know the cost can be intimidating but with a new battery and the right charger you should get years of trouble free use. If you can't swing the cost then do what you gotta do to get on the water. Just don't forget to have fun.

(Un)official Hoosiers Thread
Anybody know of any campgrounds on the water where I can leave my boat in all weekend and just pull it up to my site? Looking anywhere in Indiana and also KY land between the lakes area.

Will my car battery charger work for trolling motor battery?
Depends on how low the charge on the battery is. At 6 amp charge rate it's gonna take a while for that big battery if it's really low. Just watch the gauge the first time you charge it. Well check it occasionally anyway and time it. Just did some rough Google math. At 80% discharge and 6amp charge re ate it will take about 16hrs to charge. If you bought a 15amp charger it would only take 6hrs. This is what I use. ://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000H961YI/ref=sxbs_sxwds-stvp_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1503425075&sr=2&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=2972396462&pd_rd_wg=WURpu&pf_rd_r=VWW1XTVVBTDGWWM76F66&pf_rd_s=mobile-sx-bottom-slot&pf_rd_t=9701&pd_rd_i=B000H961YI&pd_rd_w=jtp3f&pf_rd_i=schumaker+charger&pd_rd_r=YS959GET7JA6N0ARWZ21&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65

Will my car battery charger work for trolling motor battery?
It will work. Same as charging a dead car battery. Just don't leave it on too long or you'll burn up the battery. I recommend using a smart charger. It's a set and forget deal. Turns off automatically and always gives the right amount of charge. It's nice but not necessary.

BPS or Academy House Brands
Don't know about BPS or Cabela's but I have about a dozen H2O express cranks. They are a great value in my opinion. The CRS is great. I think I have at least 5 of them.

Show your non kayak cartop boat
I need a cartop setup for weekends with the woman. She lives in an apartment complex with no room to park a trailer. Tried a canoe and a kayak, didn't care for either. I could maybe go for a shorter wider canoe but kayaks are definitely out for me. Currently I am using a very narrow flat bottom Jon boat that I haul on top of my Jeep Cherokee. It's very light, easy to load, easy to row, comfortable to sit in and was very cheap. My only problem with it is the stability when standing. The floor is only 24" and it's 12ft long. Thinking of getting a 1236 or wider if I can find it. Need to stay under 12' so it can be used at the cartop launch sites that are limited to <12' or canoes. So while I deliberate about what I want... I would like to know if any of you have had a cartop jon boat or similar boat that you liked. Tell me what you liked about your rig and what you didn't. Thanks for sharing.
