  1. my favorite thing about 6th sense is the rod sleeves. absolutely the best i have seen anywhere.
  2. i have a back pack that came with 4 3600 boxes, but i only carry 3 of them. 1 is spinnerbaits and bladed jigs and a few jigs. the other is crank baits, the 3rd is all terminal tackle. one of the side pockets has my plastics. the blade box only has a a handful of different baits in it, but in 3 different colors. i carry 3 of everything in that box. i don't feel like i need to carry alot of different offerings. i know what catches fish where i live, and i carry that stuff and nothing else. i dont see the point in owning (let alone carrying) stuff i'm never gonna throw.
  3. decades ago, i used to fish a private place me & a couple buddies called "the hole". it was the nastiest looking place you ever saw. you could not fish it without getting muddy. it's too shallow and narrow for a boat except in winter. if you saw it, you'd never think of it as the greatest place to fish in 100 miles. but i saw my buddies wife catch a 5 lb crappie there. i saw him catch a 9 lb pickerel there. i've hooked bass so big i could not control them. i had MANY days there where i caught so many bass bigger than 3 lbs, i'd leave by 1 pm with a sore wrist. i also encountered a snake there that was 12-15 ft long. there were lots of times i went there with only 2 lures - a spinnerbait and a plastic worm, and caught more fish than i could count.
  4. i dont eat anything that ever lived in the water. no fish, no crustaceans, no oysters/clams, none of that stuff. when i was a kid, i loved it. somewhere along the line, i lost a taste for it. now, it all tastes like having a handful of pennies in my mouth.
  5. my jdm bfs is my favorite reel. it's a daiwa sv lite i got it from tackle warehouse back in june, but it's still available from digitaka right now
  6. we all have our cross to bear. it seems that being plagued by giant bass is your cross. i can't pretend to speak for the others, but i certainly appreciate your sacrifice. hang in there, man. ?
  7. when i have been lucky enough to find some, live helgramites are about the best bait i ever tried. i recently picked up some soft plastic ones by nikko. can anyone offer some tips on the best way to rig them? i mainly fish for smallies in a shallow, clear crick. the water rarely gets more than 3-4' deep
  8. i can only guess what the rod's guides look like, after seeing that reel.
  9. i dig carpenter alot too. carpenter himself called "they live" a documentary. these days, it doesn't seem like he was kidding... but that aside, one of the things he did that i like best, is barely more than 3 minutes long. if he had ever made this short into a feature length film, i have no doubt it would have been a success the likes of which we have never seen previously https://youtu.be/R1D3Sj_bzVQ i had to display it as a link instead of embedding it as a video, the thumbnail might have been an issue
  10. alot of folks i know complain about wire-fu being unrealistic, but then they'll watch marvel movies like superman, or movies where some mary-sue who weighs 100 lbs beats up multiple 200 lb men, or shoot outs where the hero never has to reload, and makes 200 yard shots with a snub nose 38. not saying that's you (but is it?) but that's the difference between wushu, and wuxia all that side, no one mentioned it, so i will: my absolute favorite fight of all time. it has been copied and parodied more times than any other, as far as i know. roddy piper and keith david, in the documentary "they live" or this one
  11. if you like that, you would probably like shaolin soccer, and possibly kung fu mahjong. the landlord from hustle is in that one, she basically plays the same part, sorta kinda. but for this type of movie, nothing beats kung pow. the funniest part of the entire movie is what happened after the movie. as a cliche' there are several spots in the movie that mention a sequel. at that time, imdb used to have a busy forum. alot of people on there talked about this movie, and there were gigantic arguments over whether or not there would actually be one. i mean, threads that went on for dozens of pages of heated arguments. one day, steve odekirk himself came in there, and basically said it was in there as a joke, and he never had any intention of doing a sequel. no one believed it was him, and they sorta told him to eff off. after that a moderator informed everyone it was actually him.
  12. i think this is one of those "ymmv" topics. i have a curado dc on a curado med hvy/mod action rod with 12 lb p-line flouro. i set mine with the no side play, on 2 1/2 and i never change it, no matter what i'm throwing. i bank fish, so lots of times i throw the long bomb, but not always. as a-jay said below, accuracy is more important almost all of the time. i very rarely backlash. i think for me, it has alot to do with the fact that i learned on the old garcia 5000, which had no mag brakes or any of the fancy stuff. thumb control and watching the lure fly is key. but like i said, ymmv this, forever and ever, amen
  13. i know you guys love to hate on googan squad, but peric caught a 4lb smallie by drop shotting lettuce. i caught a 3 lb largemouth once on a spinnerbait, with a balsa bee on one side of his lip, and a huge sunfish tail sticking out of his throat. i had that lure for a couple years before i lost it to a snag.
  14. today, i caught a REAL MONSTER! after trying my swimbait, a swim jig, a buzzbait, and only getting a few taps, i put on ol' reliable: the firetiger spinnerbait. 2 or 3 casts in, as soon as it hit the water, the line went tight, and the rod bent into a sharp C shape. i set the hook, and it was all i could do to turn this monster around. this thing was trying to stay down, and was fighting harder than anything i ever hooked. i was really excited. this must be the biggest bass of my life! soon i realized it wasn't pulling like a bass... after about a minute of fighting, i finally saw what it was: an 18" diameter snapping turtle! hahahahaha that's never happened to me before.
  15. oh you country boys gotta love these 2: eyes to dream of this one is proof that dynamite comes in a small package
  16. that's the most perfect gif for this thread
  17. hell yeah! 5 deadly venoms is a good one! and also, heroic trio because i LOVE michelle yeoh, anita mui, (r.i.p.) and the lovely joey wong. enter the dragon is good, but i like chinese connection best because of the cool lotus move he does when he fights the white guy. the one where it looks like bruce has 10 arms. besides, that story is very loosely based on a true story, and i've seen that same story from a bunch of different perspectives. drunken master is great, but i like return of the drunken master best. partly because i loved anita mui so much. her comedic style was perfect for jackie chan. wong fei hung is kind of the chinese robin hood/superman. he (the character fei hung) appears in dozens of stories doing all manner of amazing feats. you guys being familiar with the genre might really like seeing 3 other movies raid, and raid redemption : fantastic fight scenes, raid 1 is pretty much an hour and a half of non-stop action chocolate: with jee ja yanin. she was initially billed as the female tony jaa. (ong bak, the protector) the cool thing is the movie is all stunts with no nets, no wires. when you see people fall off of buildings to the street, that's real. those 2 people went to the hospital. they weren't supposed to fall off, but they put the footage in the movie anyhow.
  18. i used to collect them. i got up to almost 800 titles the first time. the 2nd time i made it back as far as 600 before i gave up due to changing formats and somethings becoming unavailable. some of my favorites are listed below. any of you who like this stuff please post your favorites crouching tiger hidden dragon : possibly the greatest movie ever filmed. i can recite the dialog to the entire movie i know every detail of every scene. i've watched it dozens of times. a tale of two sisters: i had to watch this movie 3 times before i finally understood everything that happens in it. hitchcock would have been jealous of this film. when the last sword is drawn: a fictional tale woven from historical events at the end of the boshin war. an extremely sad film, but also very rich. a moment to remember: if you can watch this movie without tearing up you have no soul, or possibly, no tear ducts. grave of the fireflies: saddest cartoon ever made, in the history of earth.
  19. i am assuming most folks on here are men, but any ladies who want to play along are more than welcome. what are the top 3 most attractive faces to you? keep it rated PG. no bikini pics or racy stuff. faces only, or at least as close as possible. you can't pick your wife/girlfriend/partner/mom etc. gotta be un-obtanium. my examples are all before my time but i'm weird that way i guess. hedy lamarr, gina lollobrigida, pam tillis [/img] [/img] [/img] honorable mention to choi ji woo, i bet none of you ever heard of her
  20. i went to youtube and gave you a like. nice job! i badly play guitar. there is actual rock and roll in my bones. i am a rocker, and i just can't help it. i have a couple of songs on youtube, just for fun. my old band has a few studio rehearsals on the rythym guy's page. no one looks at them but us until recently. an obscure station up in canada stumbled across his page and played a couple of our songs on the air. we picked up a few hundred views over nite and that was kinda fun. here is one of our songs, it's meat & potatos rock, but that's how i like it.
  21. sounds like the best idea so far! me, i went fishing today, got skunked, but it's all good because i was out there. yesterday was the best saturday in a loooong time. my sons came over and we had lunch. my grand daughter was here too, she's 8 yrs old. she painted a picture on my wall in the bedroom. i will see it every morning when i wake up. i did the yard today, and tomorrow i'm goin on a monster hunt in the am.
  22. 3/4 oz tandem willow blade spinnerbait in firetiger 3/8 oz black & blue chatterbait with a blue flake crackin craw the biggest floating rapala stickfish i can find in black/silver round here, if they aint bitin one of those, they aint bitin
  23. i'm not gonna say it, but you know what i'm laughing at right now ?
  24. it asks for girth, which i did not measure
  25. last week, i tried a little pond right on the side of the road in a neighboring state. it's one of the few not posted, so i assumed it was ok to fish. i caught a few decent ones, but one of them was a nice 4 1/2 lb largie i went back there today, and fished a few hours before the rain came down in buckets. i caught a few 1 lbers on a buzz bait, then switched to "old reliable" the fire tiger spinnerbait. i caught a nice 5lber today a lady who lives in the house next to the pond came out with her dog, i waved, and she waved back. i am taking that as my sign that it's ok to fish there as long as i'm respectful. i never see anyone else there, so i dang sure ain't tellin nobody where it is! hahahaha i want to ask you all a question: do you think google is accurate in telling me how big these fish were? i ask it " how much does a 20.5" bass weigh?" and it says 5 lbs 1 oz. the other was 19.5" and it said 4lb 4 oz. i don't have a scale yet, so this is the best i can do for now
