Hummingbird Side Imaging
Ditto that. One of our boats we will only have between 3500 and 4000 in when we finish restoring it, and the other, that it would get put on, will have just over a thousand when we finish with it. But, even so, if I get the money, you can bet I will have one, and will have a transducer on each boat, so I can use it on 2 of our 4 current boats.

Trailer Lights @%#&!!!
Just unplug your lights when launching. When you pull in, you unplug them while untying. Then, when you are leaving, you plug them in after you have strapped her down. Been doing it that way for a long while, and the first time we forgot to unplug them, something shorted, and it blew half the fuses in the truck, so on the way home, we had to drive home with no taillights on the truck or trailer, and half of the dash lights, and this was 9:00 on a winter night, so it was pitch black.

i am going to be taking a break fro BR.com Fellas
To be honest, I do know how you feel to a point. I have always been somewhat eccentric, and therefore class loser, up until recently when I had a major growth spurt and now tower over everybody by about 4 inches. Sometimes the best thing to do is to take a break from it for a while, but come back soon. I will miss your jokes, and even advise from the fishing sections. Don't ever forget where your home is, and come back soon.

Need Help Driving A Stickshift... UPDATE!
I am 14 and can drive one purty well. I started out in a grassy field and am on to parking lots, and deserted back country roads. My hardest issue is backing up with a trailer. I tend to ride the clutch, and when it needs the little burst, I let off to fast. Usually the weight of the trailer stalls it. Other than that, I am pretty good. But, it takes practice, and that takes time. Don't give in. You'll get it.

What is a good canoe to bass fish from.
Ditto that. Most durable too. Love the discovery editions. I just picked up an aluminum 17 foot Grumman, so we will see how that goes. But, this increases our fleet to 1 working fishing boat, two project boats, and one canoe. So, it may be a while.

Is this a good deal?
The things I have seen with smaller mercs, is the driveshaft rusts away, to the point that it breaks. Also, if you ever expect to do any work on it (trust me, you will, its a merc) expect to drill out seized bolts. Also, there throttle stop is a little higher than competitors, so they have higher RPMs. So, if you always run it on full throttle, it will die a lot faster than an equal Johnnyrude. Sure, pound for pound, it will be faster when it works, but it still is a pretty heavy anchor for such a small boat. ;D

My local lake seems to attract those things like skeeters to fresh blood. On one of the Allatoona boards, many of the people have them, including Triton Mike, who is a great guide on the lake (he is a member of these boards - just don't see him too much). Everyone who has them just LOVES them, and I can't wait until 15 years from now when I can actually afford one too. ;D People post screenshots on the site, and I am amazed at what they find, RIGHT IN MY MOST COMMON FISHING GROUNDS. I have been all over this one section with my regular depthfinder, and found a couple of brushpiles, and then some guy comes into my crappie fishing section with that, and finds a freekin road with pilings for a bridge, and meanwhile I am dropshotting a little bush I find. The only complaint some folks with the 797 have, is they wish they had spent the extra few bucks on the larger screen of the 997. But from everybody I know who has one, it is well worth it.

And you think you are having a bad day?
I can't tell you how much I thank you for the duty that you do for the rest of us. Many people don't understand the hardships you have to endure selflessly for the rest of us - I know I sure don't. Many thanks go out to you, and all the loyal men and women working with you. We will be sure to save you quite a few bass for when you get home. If there is anything you need one of us to do, feel free to ask. If it can't be done by 1 or 2 people you have all of bassresource.com behind you.

Fishing pads. Advice needed.
Use the same worm you used earlier, as apparently, it works, you will start out with confidence, and that is one important aspect of fishing. T-rig it, and look for little differences in the pads. Break in them, or a hole. Cast and land your worm on top of the pad, wait as long as you can, and then wait longer, then, jump it off the edge of the pad, and let it fall just like a senko. I usually use a finesse worm, but ALWAYS use it like a senko no matter what I am fishing. I just like the skinniness better for some reason. Also, in the early morning, get a topwater on the edge of the pads. They will leave the cover, and forage for surface stuff early on. But don't get a treble stuck in the pads, as you won't see your lure again.

Is this a good deal?
I would be scared that that is a MERC that doesn't run. In terms of small outboards like you are looking at, mercs aren't necessarily what you want. The larger ones, although I personally don't like mercs period, are still good enough, but the small ones just don't cut it.

Wet Floor
I have only been around 14 and have. But, if you tilt the nose up, and open the drain plug in the transom, you should be good. I have never seen any part of a boat, aside from a livewell, that holds water, and even half the livewells I see end up leaking sooner or later. Tilt the nose, and pull the plug, and if something still holds water, it means something was built wrong, and I would wait till it rots to the point that a foot goes through the deck to fix it. And, it takes a lot longer than one would think for a piece of plywood to rot like that. After all, don't fix nothing if it ain't broke. Trust me, that is good advice.

LBH has some 'splainin' to do.
I noticed him poking quite a bit of fun, and thought he was gonna get into trouble. I then noticed the other post where you listed your pricing for doing mod work, and noticed messing with bucket was free. So your saying that you changed his profile, THEN he said ban him? Seems like he is getting quite a bit overzelous to me. I wonder what he is gonna do in a week. This could be good.

First paycheck
No, they are.

Mounting long shaft motor on short transom
Sounds like a spun hub is your problem. Take the prop to a prop shop and either buy a new one, or get them to re hub it. The long shaft will only put a bit more drag, so your top end won't be quite as high as it will otherwise. And, some say it makes it a tad harder to steer at high speeds, but that won't happen till you get really high speeds that a 15 horse isn't gonna give you. Doesn't sound like any of the 4 things wrong that CGH mentioned, as you sayed the motor revs high, so it isn't bad fuel line, plugs, or the high speed adjuster. Check your hub.

What Type of Boat do you fish with?
Currently I am fishing out of a 1997 12 foot Grumman vee with a 1988 Evinrude 4 horse deluxe. It has a TM and a fishfinder, so it functions just fine. Soon, we are gonna add a casting deck, and lots of storage, so we don't have to screw with the benches, and wont trip over our stuff. We are restoring a 1974 15 foot aluminum Lund fish n ski, with a 1979 55 horse Johnson. Soon, it will be our main fishing boat for the large lakes, and the other one for the smaller lakes. I would like to restore an old 15 or 16 foot aluminum bass boat, with about a 75 horse engine, and use that as my large lake boat, and the Lund will get used more for skiing and such.

Low Power/Thrust from MinnKota 40 PowerDrive
You need to change all the seals. If fishing line got in it, there is a good chance that the seals are toast, and just providing extra friction, and no water protection.

Beginner Boat for Beginner Fisher
Well, my 1988 Evinrude 4 horse deluxe (4 hp motor with more accessories - F/N/R, twist tiller throttle, shallow water drive (mine is missing) better carrying handle, etc) pushes our 12 foot vee about 4 - 5 estimated mph with dad and me in it. With just me, it doesn't quite want to plane, but that has to do with the weight distribution. On a 12 footer, anywhere from a 4 to a 10 is good for many lakes and rivers. For a smaller motor like this, I would recommend a Johnson or Evinrude from the 1950s to 1999. Theoretically, mercs will give better speed, but reliability is what you sacrifice with them. Unless you get into the newer motors, (I doubt you will with your budget) you should stick with a johnnyrude. But, you could start out with just a TM (I would recommend 50 + pound thrust, even on a jon, as even though a 30 is more than sufficient for fishing, sometimes you need the extra get up and go. (tonight we were on an elec only lake, and a lightning storm came up, and the extra 20 pounds got us to the ramp faster. Of course, if you do have the outboard, and won't ever see any elec. only lakes, a 30 should do ya fine.

15hp evinrude
We ain't never bothered to use it. In the winter it often stalls out at the lowest throttle. Instead of adjusting the idle, just give it a teeny weeny bit more throttle. Problem solved.
-
Replace the floor?
Do you want to restore this for the fun of the restoration? If not, just temporarily fix the problem. Once it is a real problem (IE your foot goes through the hull) just take the motor off, keep the trailer, and throw it in the front yard with a sign that says FREE. Or put it on Craigslist, as a 400 dollar trailer with *free boat* But, if you put a piece of plywood over it, it will last quite a bit of time. More than you would think.

15hp evinrude
If the oil and fuel is mixed in the tank, how is the motor gonna take some out or add some oil to the PREMIX? That is the idle adjustment. It adjusts the RPMs at the lowest throttle settings. That way, at different altitudes and temperatures, you can still idle as low as possible, without dieing.

Catfish Noodling
Juggin, now that is fun. Get your girlfriend, a jonboat, and 40 jugs with lines. Catch you some cats. Noodlin'. Ain't done it yet. But, I have some friends with a small pond with cats. We was gonna do it this year, but I was out of town with the scout trips (summer camp 1 week. Philmont 3 weeks, then his vacation, and our vacation, and we ran out of time.

Using 2 Depthfinders at once
Here is what it looks like on a friends SI unit. The vertical lines are the interference.
