Game Day Predictions
The game is not setting up well for the Bears. They are not moving on offense and the Bears defense is not getting to Manning and the Colts are moving the ball. Colts may turn it up big time in the 2nd half. Also, could there be a more sloppy 1st half with all the fumbles? Go Colts! Brad

Booyah Boogie Bait vs Chatterbait
I'll add a variant on the yo-yo. I will toss the bait to given target and let fall straight down to the bottom. If the bait is not intercepted by a bass on the way to the bottom, I will let it sit on the bottom "deadstick" fashion for up to a minute. I will then rip the bait off the bottom with a very hard jerk and thet let it fall straight back down and repeat. Brad

Yum LPT
YUM spray will change your bait's color. The green one will dye about any bait green. Also stains other things, as my non-boater found out, the hard way >, in my boat. :'( Brad

Favorite Summertime baits
Carolina rigs about anywhere - grassbeds, drop offs, roadbeds, humps, flats, points. Lipless cranks, spinnerbaits, swim blades, weightless plastics and topwaters around grass. Shallow crankbaits and spinnerbaits around shallow wood. Jigs and Trigs around docks and riprap. My four best methods in summer, generalized. Brad

The best lure
The Carolina rig has caught a chunk of tournament fish for me year round. Brad

Overall Favorite Soft Bait Company
GYCB, ZOOM, NetBait, Reaction Innovations, Gambler... Heck, I seldom meet a plastic I do not really like. They all work. Brad

6" Mogambo grub.
They are great baits for fishing over slop. Brad

Booyah Boogie Bait vs Chatterbait
If Rad fixed their poor hook eyes..I had several with cracks, then maybe Rad would be worth another try. Otherwise, I'd take the Boogie or the Gambler Swim Blade, which I like the best. Brad

2007 Bassmaster Classic Contenders
My hat is off to Terry McWilliams from Greenfield, Indiana, Northern Division for making the classic. He is a a great guy and a great stick. Good luck Terry! Brad

How did it happen?
Since when did too much tackle become a problem? :-? Raul, you ever hear of such a thing? Brad

Spit-N-Image
The only way I fish a Spook or Spit'n Image is a steady walk with an occasional pause. If the fish are following and not taking, I replace the back treble with a feathered one. Brad

Mosquito Hawk
The Mosquito Hawk was a Mann's bait that was out many years ago and was discontinued. Now, it has been redesigned and reintroduced by Mann's. Brad

Drawbacks of EWG hooks?
For a lot of different fishing I will use EWG or some other offset style hook like a Glock or round bend offset Gammie. For heavy cover, I want a straight shank if at all possible. They hang up the least in heavy cover. I have never broken an EWG hook and Catt, you're the only guy I know who has ever seen or had one brake. As for hooking, most of the fish I hook with an EWG are usually hooked deep in the mouth. Thet usually hook the fish well inside the mouth long before they get near the lips. Brad

double bladed buzz baits
I like the Accent Buzz B 2 double blade buzzbait. Compact and easy to fish slowly. Have used them for years with great success. Brad

Favorite Color For Fat Ika?
Green Pumpkin/Black Flake If you do own any soft plastic baits in this color, then you are not a true bass fisherman. Brad
-
Best Deep Cranks
A lipless bait yo-yo'd on a deep, rock bottom is a good bait to try. Brad

Cajun bubble craw
They have a jighead made for rigging the Bubble Craw. Should have been some in the kit. Brad

Jig's
For fishing in grass, a pointed style of head with the line tie at the nose will come through the grass better. There are a lof jigs like this on the market. I like the Booyah Boo jigs, Booyah Swim'N Jigs and the Vertical Jig X. There are other good brands too. Just do some searching online and you should be able to find them. Brad

You guys trim down the weed guard on your jigs?
I trim my weed guards. Just a confidence thing. Brad

Johnson Silver Minnow
Johnson Silver Minnows, Jitterbugs, Jelly Worms, Big-O's. Old baits that have been busting bass for a long time. I had several of each when I was a kid, now all I have left are two black Jitterbugs. The rest have been replaced, lost or forgotten. I'm gonna have to get some more Silver Minnows. I love fihsing weeds, grass and pads. Would be a good bait to try again. Brad

You guys take the rings off your rattle-traps, etc
I never tie onto a split ring. I use a snap. Brad

Ika suggestion?
Senkos were used for years before most people knew what a Senko was. How much pros talk about a bait has no real relation to whether its popular or not. There are a lot of great baits that pros use and never talk about because they want to keep them "hush hush" or because they are not a sponsor's bait. There are also a lot of great baits out there that catch lots of fish, but there are a lot of pros that have never fished nor will ever fish them because those baits do not fit that anglers style. Besides, who has room for all the great baits in their boat? The first time I saw a Senko was when I bought a ton of GYCB stuff from a retiring regional pro. I was going through the box to see what was in it and saw all these straight worms called Yamasenkos. They looked pretty boring to me, so I sold them all. I should have known something was up by how quickly they sold. Little did I know at the time. Also, one thing to keep in mind is that baits like Senkos and Fat Ikas really do not fit the type of fishing pros like to do. Fat Ikas and Senkos are at their best when fished weightless and fished slowly. Pros are not slow fisherman. They want to fish fast and they want to cover water. Even when they are finesse fishing or slowing down, they are still fishing pretty quickly. A guy like KVD might explode if he had to fish that slow. The Fat Ika is a very popular bait. It is one of the best selling baits for GYCB, even at $7 to $8 a pack. No, it's not a miracle bait, but it you like to fish plastics like Senkos, then you will like the Fat Ika and it is worth trying. Brad

T-rig Worms vs Senko style worms.
IMO, they are totally different baits. I have both rigged up most times, especially in the summer. The Senko style baits are usually fished weightless throughout the water column. They are effective from the time they land into the water until they hit bottom. Deadstick them on the bottom, lift and repeat. They have their own action, or lack of it, and no action needs to be imparted by the angler. It's really a boring, slow way to fish, but very effective. Of course, this is just one way to fish them, but it is probably the most used way. Bass usually eat them on the fall or after they have sat dead on the bottom for a little bit. Texas rigged worms are normally fished weighted on the bottom, usually in some kind of cover. Most have action provided by the tail when the bait is moved. You can fish a weighted Trigged worm faster and cover more water than with a Senko. If the bass are more related to the bottom, I would be more inclined to fish the weighted Trig worm. Brad

Favorite Bass Jig Company?
There are lots of great jigs out there. Hard to actually find a bad one. I use Booyah!, Buckeye Mop Jigs and Vertical Lures Jig X. I also use some jigs I make myself from Booyah heads and home made skirts. Brad

clear water lures
In crystal clear water. For plastics and jigs, I want a bait that blends into the bottom or the cover I am fishing. Usually greens, browns, and blacks. There are a lot of different shades in those groups and finding a color to match the bottom is usually easy. For crankbaits, I want no rattle and a ghost color or baitfish color. The BDS line of Lucky Craft is a silent bait. The LV300N is a silent lipless bait. Lucky Craft has several ghost colors. For topwaters, any baitfish color. Brad
