Braid vs no Braid from the bank
Not sure if I agree. I have experience longer casts going from straight FC to braid to leader on spinning. Proof? In addition, almost everyone tends to agree as well.

Hurricane Delta
Memphis is far enough inland that youll be fine. By then it will be a depression and winds around 20-30 mph. Power outage due to downed trees are more of an issue. If you were in Louisiana, then I would be running for the hills lol.

Yes sir. Get them while you can. The new Super Destroyer is amazing! Great rod for skipping jigs, swimming a jig, etc.

Help finding replacement guide
If the guide insert is ok, then you could rewrap the guide and epoxy it back on.

Best value NRX vs Conquest?
Also consider the NRX will potentially be revamped so I would personally wait. I highly recommend a Megabass Destroyer, St Croix Legend Elite or X instead until G Loomis drops a new rod.

Help me choose a rod brand
Big difference between the Exprides and Champion.

Are You Ready For Some Football?
I agree that the Texans looked rough but I think it was a good move to trade him but I don't like the trade they made. They were such a 1 dimensional offense throwing to Hopkins. Now Fuller will pick up a bigger role with Hopkins gone

Megabass Destroyer P5 Dark Sleeper for pitching jigs?
I cry inside when I hear big game lol. I highly recommend giving flourocarbon a try and if you don't like it try a copolymer. I only use mono for topwater. I think you'd be very happy. Goodluck buddy

Help me choose a rod brand
Brands I would recommend: Shimano, G Loomis, St Croix, Megabass, ALX, Phenix, Daiwa, Miller Rods. I know some people like them but Dobyns is one of my least favorite as I don't find the rods sensitive at all. I have fished the Champion, Xtasy, Champion Extreme, etc and not impressed. The tapers are quite nice for moving bait rods though. Bottom contact I would look elsewhere.

Megabass Destroyer P5 Dark Sleeper for pitching jigs?
Depending on which trailer but yea. The dark sleeper would be an excellent shakeyhead casting rod, finesse jig, and light t-rig rod. Nothing too heavy.

Megabass Destroyer P5 Dark Sleeper for pitching jigs?
IMO the Destroyer is worth the upgrade.
-
Go to spinning reel brand. best value
I would go with Daiwa Revros, Regal, or Exceler over the Speed Spin

Megabass Destroyer P5 Dark Sleeper for pitching jigs?
I like the rod for light texas rigs and small finesse jigs. 3/8 oz jig w/ trailer is the max I would throw on it.

Explain Shimano MGL for dummies like me
If that floats your boat then by all means ?

Explain Shimano MGL for dummies like me
That wont work either. Now you have less IPT because you are only partial feeling the spool. So you fixed one problem, yet created a new problem.

Technology
I agree to a certain extent but also disagree. A Zebco or Black Max is not a Tatula SV. Do I think I could catch fish with a Zebco, yes! Do I think I could skip docks and laydowns as well, no! I would be more successful with a Tatula but I do agree you don't have to spend $1000 on a setup but there is a big difference in a Duckett Ghost and a St Croix Legend Elite

This entire post from WRB came out of left field. Not sure how to take it but yes I agree with JBsooner. You can't attribute big bass to anything specifically. Catching big fish means nothing if we are comparing somone who lives on different bodies of water. I can be mediocre at fishing but live on Clear Lake, Big O, Guntersville, etc and catch a 10 lber but you could be a stud living in North Dakota and never have a chance at a 10. Does that make me better? NOPE. Nice equipment is a tool to make your job easier and more efficient.

Breaking Fluorocarbon Leaders - Reasons?
Correct. Line management, longer casts, no twisting plus the ability to lie in leader from 6 to 10 lb leader to my 20 lb braid is really convenient
-
Breaking Fluorocarbon Leaders - Reasons?
Exactly. I only use braid to leader on spinning rods though. Not a fan for casting
-
Breaking Fluorocarbon Leaders - Reasons?
If you are using braid to leader, than the price shouldn't be a big factor as even a 200 yd spool of FC will last a long time. While I accept the downfalls of FC, I don't have many issues. I don't use line conditioner either. I am a skeptical person myself so I don't believe everything I hear and read. Do I think FC is overpriced? Yes. Do I think it has issues? Yes but so does mono. Do the benefits of FC outweigh its weaknesses? That is for you to decide but for me absolutely. When you fish FC vs mono, it's night and day difference for bottom contact sensitivity. I don't see myself ever throwing mono unless it's topwater or maybe cranking.

Shimano reel for deep cranking
Yes as due many other that suggested so. The Launcher is a MH not a Heavy! Its a 6 power rod rated to 1.9 oz. No need for a 11.6 ounce reel in the Tranx 300 when a Shimano Calcutta 200D (and other 200 size reels) have plenty of line capacity and power to handle this application. Plus they balance perfect! This rod was designed to throw 6XD, 8XD, DD 22, with 10 XDs being at the top of its range. Most of everyone I know cranks with 10, 12, or 14 lb line being the most so no need for a 300.

Shimano reel for deep cranking
Exactly we are aware. Never did i say it was. You misread my post.... I stated the 200D is a round reel. Good recommendation though A Jay. Calcutta is a good choice ?
-
Shimano reel for deep cranking
100% agree. But the OP seems to be throwing more around the 5 and 6xd. Those baits are mainly going to be thrown by the masses on 10 and 12 lb line where the 200 would be perfect like you suggested. IMO no need for a Tranx 300 unless you plan to throw 8 and 10XDs on a regular basis. If that is the case, I would rather have the Calcutta D 200
