  1. Im referring to Super FC Sniper which is more affordable around $20 for 200 yards. I do agree to an extent about stretch and sensitivity being overhyped but I can tell a significant difference in bottom contact presentations sensitivity with fluorocarbon over mono. I've caught plenty of good fish on mono but that doesn't prove anything. No one is saying mono is useless it's just inferior in some aspects. I use mono all the time for many presentations/techniques. It just an individualized approach and decision people must make. Many people fish straight braid for everything, no one is right/wrong.
  2. You could also argue that you aren't getting the sensitivity from the mono that fluorocarbon has. Big Game vs Sunline Sniper, Tatsu, Invizx, Shooter is a night and day difference in my hands and for all the buddies I fish with. I don't use mono much at all for bottom contact due to this. Mono has its place but not for bottom contact for me. With everything there are tradeoffs and one must make their individualized choice.
  3. Lure ratings are meaningless they are often just arbitrary numbers used as guidelines by manufacturers. You can often find rods with outrageous lure ratings. But finesse jigs often feature lighter wire hooks and I see so often people overpowering it. Its a finesse jig for a reason. But I agree that using a higher power rod is beneficially when dealing with bigger fish and around cover.
  4. Megabass, St Croix, G Loomis, Dobyns comprise 95% of my rods. Id look into them before I would buy a Kistler. Just a personal thing.
  5. Great review. I appreciate that write up. Very well done!
  6. You are exactly right. That's why I said in my prior post "I would rather spend my hard earned money with a company I know that makes a quality rod". Makes being the key word not sources from another company.
  7. Just my personal opinion. I won't buy anything Academy, Bass Pro/Cableas brands as they just source a manufacturer and slap there labels on it. I would rather spend my hard earned money with a company I know that makes a quality rod. Do what works for you though, I'm not saying my opinion is right. Buy the best you can afford and just enjoy it! Goodluck fishing.
  8. I've used the SLX rod and reel on multiple occasions. Had it for a couple weeks. The SLX reel is a great reel! I have also been impressed with the rod thusfar.
  9. Shimano SLX, *** Chrome & Black, and Daiwa Tatula XT are among my favorite rods around your price range. I wouldn't buy anything Cabelas brand personally.
  10. Avoid Ardent. There are much better reels out there. Don't let the prices fool you.
  11. I was impressed with ALXs build quality, however, the performance of the rod left me unimpressed though. The craftmanship is good, the responsiveness of the blank (sensitivity) was lacking.
  12. Go direct with Shimano. Always the best!
  13. No one has mastered the baitcaster and I mean NOBODY. It's all about being proficient enough to utilizes its capabilities and reap the benefits it offers. Just keep practicing and you'll continue to see improvements
  14. ALX Zolo sensitivity is a comparable to an IMX Pro, but a little less responsive from my experience. The build quality is good and they feel good. There are a lot of great rods in the price range, so just research around and I'm sure you'll find something you like.
  15. By walking away/moving along you are being an enabler and essentially letting the behavior continue and putting others in harms way. Goodluck calling the cops when the conflict is already unfolding. In some situations, you must control the outcome not evade it. Well said!
  16. I would highly recommend bringing a weapon everyday not only for protection against others but also gators, snakes, etc. A weapon is a tool no one hopes or intends to use on a daily basis but yet again it's a tool that you may need. My father has opened carried for his entire life as he often goes to bad parts of town and trust me they notice and all try to be his friend lol. Its for your protection as well as others. Just be responsible.
  17. Right on! When money is on the line and they are polite since I fish for enjoyment, I will definitely move along. But if they aren't polite, they will second guess their decision lol.
  18. Yall are crazy lol. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Put whatever reel from either company you want on it and just fish. If the reel balances well and fits the rods application, it wont change the outcome.
  19. Well I am not someone to look for confrontation, I certainty would not let someone attempt it. It would end badly for them. I believe some people are so clueless in life and they need a good ol talkin to.
  20. I woke up today and it was 75 degrees at 7 am already. We don't get much of a fall or winter haha
  21. Typically, but the Daiwa Tatula LT 2000 has more spool capacity than a CI4 so size comparisons are not always perfect across reel sizes.
  22. My buddy uses a series of buggee cords from one overhead handle across to another to secure them over his head. It works well and is inexpensive.
