Beyond This 3D Reality.....
Just curious if anyone "believes" in realms beyond the 3D physical world we live in. For me, it's my default setting. Among other things, I believe that we see only a small slice of reality. For some, those who "open up" see more clearly but are often ridiculed for their awareness. I've had quite a few experiences, some very dramatic and one in particular that I believe saved my life. I couldn't fathom not believing of things unseen. My learning journey has drawn me into connection with quite a few teachers (non academic) that are well known and my personal evolution has been circuitous. It's been a wild ride to say the least. My beliefs are not a passing theoretical interest but rather a way of life. I feel that it has enriched my life beyond measure.

Divorce
Been through it several times. One door closes and others will open up in time. To sum it up: Love is grand. Divorce is 500 grand.........

Megabass Vision Oneten Jr. Colors...Help me choose....??
I'm thinking ahead to next season and I want to try the Megabass Vision Oneten Jr.. I fish a small pond which is pretty shallow which holds perch, golden shiners, and bluegills. I'm looking to buy 2 or 3. What colors would you choose?

The Found Lures Thread
Thanks for your kind words, but I think you're being far too charitable. I'm just extra medium.....

The Found Lures Thread
Not a found lure, but pretty surprising. While I was policing the parking area where I fish (always do it) I found a $100 bill. I thought that it had to be a joke of some kind but brought it to the bank to make sure it wasn't counterfeit. It was genuine and I donated it to a falconer/rehabber that had a Go Fund Me going on for an incubator. Last year I brought to them an injured red tail which required transport to Cornell for x-rays. Being in the same field so to speak (we run a cat rescue/sanctuary), I thought it was only right that he get the money. The Universe provides... .

Rain and fishing. love hate thing.
Nothing wrong in babying your gear. Gear is expensive and an abused rod or reel failing could be the difference between landing a PB or dropping it. On another level, gear that is well taken care of adds a level of confidence to the equation. I feel that is equally important.

YakAttack carts - Bunkster vs BarCart
You might consider modifying a cheaper cart and save some serious change as long as you are handy. I modified all my carts as well my fishing buddy's cart with larger wheels and high quality bearings to fit carts purchased on Amazon for $35-$50 each. They handled my buddy's fully equipped Predator without issue. I made the change to larger wheels because of the trail to the launch point was really gnarly, rutted and rooted. The larger wheels made traversing the trail much easier. That was 6 years ago and no problems.

Rain and fishing. love hate thing.
You never know when conditions will change...... Warm & wet is ok. Cold and wet is a no go for me. Edit - I really dislike rain when I'm rigging up or breaking down my yak.

The Funniest Thing Youve Ever Seen On The Water Or At The Ramp
It is and a bit intimidating when they stand at "attention".

The Funniest Thing Youve Ever Seen On The Water Or At The Ramp
In my case, it must have escaped from a local or not so local farm. The local ranger was aware of the emu because of reports of it for several days but they were not aware of any local farms that had them. Maybe someone's pet but we'll never know for sure. Liberty Mutual field office?

The Funniest Thing Youve Ever Seen On The Water Or At The Ramp
I'm sure a video of this event would have been hilarious, especially my facial expression while rigging my yak for a days fishing and I turn around to be face to face with an emu. It was one of the highlights of the season.

Have a little issue here
Great advice shared here. Fishing is supposed to be fun and relaxing.Waiting for a powder keg to blow is neither. It's simply not worth the worry. Your fishing partner needs professional help. Get a yak or a small john boat and have no worries. I can only guess as how he might react when something in life really goes sideways. I would create a lot of distance between him and you. You'll be happier and safer. This is soooo spot on.

Hated sounds of fishing
Long story short, I took care of the problem and there hasn't been any issues since.

Hated sounds of fishing
Hated sounds: Loud drunken people who find it necessary to let the world know of their every thought no matter how stupid it is. The report of a rifle followed by the wizzing sound of the bullet ripping through the air or foliage. Yes, it's happened to me twice, once when I was on the water.

Best way to get rust off,,,
Prevention is the course that I chart. I use Zerust Plastabs, a VCI (vapor corrosion inhibitor). I use them everywhere I don't want rust to form. They are inexpensive and effective. If you do remove the rust from a hook, the next problem you'd face is it reforming. The rust will return to any metal whose coating is compromised. I feel it's best to just replace the hook(s).

Apache 9800 case for rods & reels....
It's still a work in progress but it's almost finished. Using an Apache 9800 rifle case to protect my rods & reels during transport. The Apache case is built like an M1 but the penalty is it's weight, weighing in at around 25#'s empty. I added the struts to keep the lid from closing at inopportune times.

Lithium battery FYI
LIthium ion batteries that we might use are still common, as I just found out. I use 2 10ah Nocqua batteries on my kayak which are lithium ion. Fortunately for me they are performing flawlessly. One is on it's 6th season of service. Not too shabby. While charging, I "battery sit' them. I don't trust them by themselves.

More information that might be useful..... Causes and consequences of explosion of LiFePO4 battery

Lithium battery FYI
Lithium battery fires are extremely difficult to extinguish. Most times they are allowed to burn themselves out and one needs to keep the surrounding combustibles from igniting. Copious amounts of water are required to try to slow the thermal runaway. Lithium fires are self perpetuating, so depriving it of oxygen won't work as a general rule. IIRC, also be aware that the emissions from a lithium fire contains hydrogen fluoride which is HIGHLY toxic. Being that they contain a massive amount of energy, they can actually explode. They are no joke. ****Edit - For more information on HF, see Facts About Hydrogen Fluoride (Hydrofluoric Acid)

Paint Cracking on New Devil Horses.....??
Update - Today I received 3 Devil Horse in dark green to replace the 2 that had cracking paint. I was pleasantly surprised that I got them so quickly, so kudos to Pradco. I was hoping that the replacements were going to be varied in paint. Now I have 5 black back/dark green AF290's. Edit- I'll have 6 AF290's.....

My yak
As other's have previously stated, you didn't do your due diligence. I don't believe there's anything I can say that will convince you that you dropped the ball in several ways. Now you're unhappy with your purchase and deflect the blame to the retailer. Put your big boy pants on and admit you've made a mistake. Learn from it and move forward. Badmouthing Dick's isn't productive and is unwarranted. Next time you make a purchase, don't place the responsibility of educating you upon the retailer. Educate yourself. You'll be happier in the long run. If you aren't, then you know who to blame.

Netting Your Bass
I fish from a kayak (sit in) and always use a floating net (with rubberized netting). I'll use a fish grip to secure the fish and unhook it while it's in the water. It will only leave the water when unhooked and lifted out so the cameras can catch it then it's back in the water and it's released. I try to minimize injury or stress to the fish. When netting, I lead the fish into the net.
