  1. TN: World Record Smallmouth: 11 lbs 15 oz For the rest of us, moderate numbers, but size! 8-)
  2. I would like everyone to encourage people on the Forum that you consider your friends to come. Time is the biggest issue, the actual cost is low for those that can drive, especially if you car/ truck pool. 8-)

  8. Bomber Square A, Norman Fat Boy, Mann's 1-Minus, Bagley BII and Rat-L-Trap type lures. 8-)
  9. Seems to me if a significant portion of your annual income comes from fishing, you're a pro. 8-)
  10. Many of the guys here sell their custom tackle. However, you will need to contact them by PM or if they have listed their website, just hit their www. button. Otherwise, only paying sponsors are allowed to directly solicit business on the forum. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  11. I think G. Loomis rods are slightly lighter than their power rating would indicate. Although I am very happy with my ES70MF, I think you should compare it with the SJR843S and see what you think. 8-)
  12. I fish the 3/8 oz Evolution e2 Jigs which are favorites! The stand-up hook positioning results in a vary enticing trailer presentation. Pick your poison: Rage Tail Craws or Lobster, GYCB Flappin' Hog or Baby Paca Craws are my favorities. Someone else will have to address the problem you are having with the Cavitron. They all perform perfectly for me. When Bobby sees this post, I'm sure he will respond. 8-)
  13. Great post! ;D ;D ;D
  14. My main rod for weightless soft plastics is an ES70MF. I also have an EC70MHF for 3/4 oz Ledgebuster and Mattlures Baby Bass. The Legend Elite Series is quite comparable to the G. Loomis IMX series. However, the power ratings are not. St. Croix M = MH (843) G. Loomis. 8-)
  15. "Sign-up" will be this fall. Hotel/ cabin reservations are currently available, but you must make them yourself. Stay tuned, we still have a lot of time between now and then. -Kent
  16. I'm TOTALLY bored with the drama. John Elway was THE MAN during his tenure, and that was an era of great quarterbacks. When it came time to hang up his gun, he retired with style and class. 8-)
  17. Well, my observation is a little different: Tournament fishermen need to be "versatile", but trophy fishermen just need to be very good at a few techniques. Tournament fishermen usually need five fish; trophy hunters want one and just occasionally. Tx guys probably need to move around; trophy hunters tend to stay put. Tx = competition, mano a mano; big bass guys, unless they are the very top of the heap, compete with themselves and their quarry. Tx = (generally) lots of little fish that trophy hunters would consider "bait" Tx = money and fame; trophy = pride 8-)
  18. Although you can do all your fishing with one rod only, ideally you need one with a fast tip for jigs and soft plastics, another with a soft tip for treble hook lures. 8-)
  19. Load it from the top, like you would with a baitcaster. 8-)
  20. Yesterday I was having no luck at my favorite pond, but after moving to another and fishing for an hour or so, same results. Ready to head to the house at this point, but I am at the spillway, on the far end of the pond. Being bored and really done "fishing", I cast out towards the middle, into deeper water in front of a reinforcement wall. Fifty yards or so, I walk the spillway and turn south down the bank, releasing line as I stroll. Occasionally I reel up a bit to keep the jig out deep and change my angle of retrieve, but all I am really doing is stretching out unused line. I'm not sure exactly how much PP 50/12 a Curado 200E7 holds, but I ran it all the down to backing. Walk and pull as I move down the bank. Suddenly, I'm thinkin'...hung up! I reel up all the slack and get a little wiggle...Game on! Nearly clear back to where I had initially cast, a big ole good'un comes flying out of the water and I'm reeling like a madman. She's coming my way, but 50 yards out she has had enough and goes airborne again. Now I have a few spectators gathering around as the excitement grows. The bass isn't really that big, but the audience did not know the difference between a big'un and a monster. Large charge just playing with this bass, well over 100 yards out. After a little showing off, kerplunk, back in the water she goes. I told those guys, "something under ten", but I'll tell you guys, "something way under ten". Note: Rage Tail Lobster on a 3/8 oz MegaStrike Evolution e2 Jig. ;D ;D ;D
  21. Rod: Avid AVC or AVS68MXF. Reel: Depending on your budget, Symetre or Stradic 2500 spinning reel; Citica or Curado 200E7 baitcasting reel. 8-)
  22. Good advice, I have nothing to add. 8-)
  23. Well, today's high quality hooks are chemically sharpened. Using a file or stone may destroy the physical integrity of the hook point. Gamakatsu, X-Point and Owner are incredibly sharp right out of the package and do NOT need any modification. 8-)
  24. Nice fish, great pic! ;D ;D ;D
