G-loomis
I have both the MBR844C and the BCR854...Pick your poison, these are both great rods. The MBR is more of an all-around rod and I would suggest the better choice. In my line up the BCR is my dedicated jig rod, the MBR for weighted soft plastics. However, the BCR is new for me. For ten years I have been fishing the MBR844C for a variety of applications. IMX vs. GLX The IMX is what separates G. Loomis from the competition. If another $100 or so doesn't mean that much to you, GLX is the ticket. The difference is subtle. 8-)

The Brave One
I saw this when it was first released, but it's not the kinda movie Hollywood reviewers like. I guess the female version of Death Wish just doesn't jazz "the critics". However, for my money, The Brave One rocks! http://thebraveone.warnerbros.com/

ultra light rod and reel
Well, a lot of guys, including Chris Fish, will have a story about landing monsters on ultra light tackle. However, for most guys and "everyday fishing", UL is definitely the wrong gear for bass fishermen. I consider Medium Power/ Fast Action most appropriate for "all-around" rods. 8-)

Spinnerbait choice in clear water
White skirt, tandem silver willow blades. 8-)

Another jig question
Well, the deal is, "cheap" is not the answer and if cost is a big concern, jigs are definitely the wrong choice, especially if you fish from shore. I fish ponds which are what might be described as "open water". On average, I lose at least a jig & trailer for every hour I fish them. 8-)

Wingdam fishing help?
In front and to the side of any current break. Lazy green fish are sometimes resting in the slack water and eddies, but the brown fish prefer current. 8-)

Going to Kentucky Lake- any recommended guides?
We have several members that you might be able to hook up with for free. They are all better than anyone you could hire! Otherewise, when they see this post, I'm sure they will have a few suggestions. 8-)

Bigger Bait, Bigger Fish
I agree wholeheartedly with this statement! As a specific example, switching from 5" Senkos to the 6" version has resulted in a dramatic improvement in the "average" size fish. I don't want numbers, so this has worked out very well for me! 8-)

Good lures for bluegill?
Forget about lures, live crickets are the ticket! Fish them on a split shot rig with a bobber. Seriously, this is the way to go. If you find 'em, it's not stop action. 8-)

Almost clocked a car sales manager today
I'm pretty sure it's universal. With two almost grown kids and a wife, I've bought a few cars and trucks over the years. I have NEVER had a "pleasant buying experience" and have never purchased two cars from the same dealership. "I'm pretty sure it's universal", too. >

Legend Elite
I have two: ES70MF is my main rod for weightless soft platics. EC70MHF is my rod for Mattlures Baby Bass and 3/4 oz Ledgebuster spinnerbaits. The components are top notch; along with craftmanship and engineering. The rods are (almost) perfectly balanced when matched up the appropriate reel. I think the Legend Elite is comparable to G. Loomis IMX and are sometimes on sale. 8-)

Is it possible for there to be too much forage?
This is where a strong argument for NOT matching the hatch comes into play. In the fall, coves along the Tennessee River are so jam packed with threadfin shad, there doesn't seem like there would be enough room for water! "Something different" is always the answer. 8-)

Pflueger President XT® Spinning Reel vs. SHIMANO SYMETRE
Even the guys who ride with the Posse argue this point: Symetre vs. Stradic...a winner either way! 8-)

Best lightweight spinning reel
Well, although that suggestion has nothing to do with this question, I'd have to agree! Save some money and put off the purchase until next spring. 8-)

Poor eyesight, need some suggestions for knots
Agreed! 8-)

Ditch the scale...That bass is easily 12 lbs! ;D ;D ;D

STX Purchase Experience : Update
Keep the reel or throw it away and be done with it. You owe this guy nothing. For someone "in the business" to operate as he has is despicable. >

Your Biggest Smallie(s)
No doubt you will find her soon. Nice fish, great pics! 8-)

RESPOOLING
I actually read the instruction manual that came with my Stella! ;D ;D The Shimano instructions are very specific: put the line replacement spool on a pencil and fill from the BOTTOM. 8-)

Pickwick
Yes, same water a mile or three apart. His fish was caught off a ridge in strong current and was probably feeding. I suspect mine was just suspending and in the fish state of sleep. The preference for the tailwaters of Wilson is a function of structure. On that part of the river/lake the water is wide and shallow with thousands of acres of spawning flats. Some of these are away from the main channel. During the spawn the vast majority of eggs below Pickwick are washed away: gates open and heavy flooding. On the upper portion of the lake, recruitment is significantly better. 8-)

More Grub Questions
Ain't that the truth! Next time I order some jigs from GMAN, I'll get some naked jig heads, too. Thanks for the heads-up! 8-)
