  1. LOL. How big were those smallies? The fat one was just over 7 lbs, the other was about 4" longer, but just a pound heavier. This is my PB and was caught below Pickwick Dam in January, 2005. 8-)
  2. With the worldwide glut, there is talk of $25 oil. OPEC is trying to defend a $40 floor. I don't know if they will be successful or not, but oil will not rise dramatically in the foreseeable future. p.s. With my discount card from the local Schnucks grocery store, gas is 72 cents a gallon. Otherwise, $1.37 locally. 8-)
  3. Welcome aboard! There are much better rods depending on your pricing point. Tell us what you want to spend and you will get several suggestions. 8-)
  4. After trading below $40 per barrel, oil finished the day closing at $40.15. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

  6. I have friends and two generations of relatives in law enforcement. This is a great field for men of principal, but requires discipline and commitment. Opportunities abound and it is unlikely that the demand for officers will decline in the foreseeable future! The pay is relatively high, at least in the bigger cities, and benefits are good. Retirement is generally an option after twenty years of service. The downside for some is that you always represent your profession, on the clock or off. If you are not a solid citizen already, this is not the right occupation to choose. Duty, Honor, Country or in a word, Character. http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Duty,_honor,_country 8-)
  7. I specified brand names for all my suggestions. 8-)
  8. Probably not a worm, most guys use a chunk (pictured in J Francho's link), a creature bait or craw. I prefer the GYCB Flappin' Hog or NetBaits Baby Paca Craw. The trailer increases the surface are of the presentation which slows the fall. Howerver, I catch 99% of my bass on or just off the bottom, so the rate of fall in not very important to me. 8-)
  9. Joe.S wrote a nice piece on fishing a jig: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189609782 If you spend some time reading through "Fishing Articles" at the top of the page, I think you will be surprised at how extensive our library has become. There are several covering all aspects of jig fishing. 8-)

  15. Yes, but the chocolate is not very good. Stick with vanilla, the cake is chocolate and makes for a great combination. 8-)
  16. The rod you have is just fine for all treble hook lures. 8-)
  17. Keep an eye on the Flea Market, I'm sure you will see a Shimano Symetre at a great price. I would try to match it up with a St. Croix Avid, which as a combination, would be a great rig and well within your price parameter. Buy this to start with: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1229113509 8-)
  18. It's a low-cal Eskimo Pie and they are delicious. Seriously!

  21. We are not desperately looking for other websites to be posted. If you want to participate in this one, welcome aboard, but otherwise find somewhere else to hang. Not a good plan for a comeback...Seriously. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator >
  22. GMAN posted the same magazine last week and surprisingly, he was on the cover, too! 8-)
  23. Whoa! We make a big effort to maintain a cordial atmosphere on this Forum. Please send me or any other Moderator a PM when you feel a thread has crossed the line. However, you posted in the Resume section and here the rules are much different. This section is designed to be brutal, so don't post a resume or ask a question here unless you want a straight forward answer and some "tough love". Regarding your comment "that every thread turns into a fight", I think you should probably reserve judgement since you have only been here for a little more than a week. If my comments seem to verify the statement you made, then this probably isn't the right place for you. We require consideration, but not submission. Discussions can be heated, but still courteous. Our Forum is designed to be "family friendly", but you still have to run with the big dogs or stay away from the fray. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global moderator
  24. Yea, well...My beloved Broncos will make the playoffs, but even I admit, my boys are pitiful. Even an occasional spark of offensive brillance cannot make up for the other half of the equation: Now known as the enver Broncos.
