Technique Specific Rods
Start here: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546 Although nearly all of your fishing can be done with one rod only, if you want to break it down, these are the three I think will cover (almost) everything: 7' Baitcaster; Heavy Power/ Fast Action (Power fishing) 6 1/2' or 7' Spinning rig; Medium Power/ Fast Action (Finesse fishing) 6 1/2' or 7' Baitcaster; Medium or MH Power/ Moderate Action or Fast Action with a soft tip (all medium weight treble hook lures)

The Rat-L-Trap will run at any depth you want to fish it.

Review Of A New Rig
I recently purchased an Avid AC70MM which I saddled up with a Shimano Metanium. It's a light, well balanced set-up that casts incredibly long and smooth. This is the rig I will be using for all medium weight crankbaits.

Tropical Storm/ Hurricane Noel
Good luck Georgia, I sure hope you guys get some rain! We were hoping it would move into the Gulf and visit Tennessee before heading your way, but it looks like that is out of the question now. I sure hope you guys get plenty of rain, everyone in the Southeast needs it desperately.

Well, now that it's November 1, how 'bout a summary review of you 2007 fluorocarbon experiment?

Crankbait Advice
Rat-L-Trap type lures. I like the Yo-Zuri RatlN' Vibe & Drum; Lucky Craft LV300 & LV500-Max. You should also try jerkbaits this time of year. : 8-)

I wanna be like Mike- PB
Start with Mattlures Baby Bass. It can be fished on your heavy bass rod, it does not require special equipment. I just ordered the "3 Pack Special" for $34.91 all-in. Not cheap, but these have been very productive for me.

The best rods for these applications?
I use the rod for ALL big treble hook lures: topwater, jerkbaits and crankbaits. (I have also used the SR705R to fish Mattlures' Baby Bass and Ledgebuster 3/4 oz Single Willow Blade spinnerbaits, although it might not be exactly the right rod for these applications.)

fat ika, when, where and how
The Palm Trees are the same bait, made by the same people and machines at GYCB Enterprises. They have a few different colors, but the lure is EXACTLY the same, simply marketed differently. The "price per unit" is also the same.

New Member
Welcome aboard! I think you'll find this board to be a little more active and since it's national rather than regional in nature, a little broader. We have a number of very successful and experienced members. However, we also have a lot of new fishermen and some of the topics become redundant over time. Just select the threads you want to read and reply to (or start your own), there's plenty for everyone's taste.

The best rods for these applications?
Lamiglas SR705R, designed by Skeet Reese (AOY 2007). This is a glass rod specifically built for big, heavy or deep diving treble hook lures. The rod is not heavy, but it is powerful. The components are top notch. I consider this rod very "technique specific' and for those applications, I HIGHLY recommend the stick.

Basstrix & USAC Proshops
Well then...Let's see what happens. I would be fishing 'em too if I could get a hold of a few, but since I can't, I just ordered some more Baby Bass from Matt.

Watching My Line
Well, there are lots of us that don't put much credence into "line watching." I doesn't work to well when fishing in high wind conditions or at night. :

Basstrix & USAC Proshops
Now, now...For a time "Hot Baits" can be very hot and make bass "catching" a whole lot easier for a broad range of anglers. The first lure that comes to mind for me is the original Floating Rapala. I have never fished the Basstrix and I'm not saying that this bait is in the same class as the Rapala, but SOMETIMES the lure can make the fisherman! The Senko certainly has had an impact on me and for that matter, a whole generation of fishermen.

New '08 line up for techniques
I intend to fish every technique when the time is right. The "rest of the time" I'll be fishing a jig or a swimbait! :

Is right now a good time to try the X-Rap?
Rapala has a very good video of the X-rap.....steady retrieve doen't get the best of them. This is the #1 reason a lot of guys don't have any luck with jerkbaits and end up giving up on them.
