Who here purchases bulk spools?
I recently bought a pound of Yo-Zuri Hybrid for $65. I'm not sure how much that is in terms of yards, but I'm guessing it's about three years worth!

source for trial spools
Use the cardboard core of a roll of toliet paper. Make a small cut with a knife. Tie a knot in both ends of your leader line and wrap it around the cardboard, inserting the line at the end knots. You can pre-cut all the leaders you need and they are ready to go without tangle or mess. For storage, keep the roll in a plastic sandwich bag.

Blade Baits
Try throwing a Silver Buddy and Cordell Gay Blade. Pop them off the bottom. Buy several if you decide to give this a try, you might lose a couple! : Another suggestion for deep structure: 3/4 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Blade spinnerbait.

A Few Recent Adjustments
I am ALL about spinning tackle, but for POWER FISHING, I use baitcasters.

New guy here, some pics from yesterday
Welcome aboard! You need some new gear. To effectively fish soft plastics you need a rod with at least Medium Power and Fast Action (a firm tip). BTW, Nice pics!

For all you Rockies fans, let's get them Rally Caps on!

A Few Recent Adjustments
Well, I still have a stockpile and I'll still be using them, I think.... Something else, I'm still using spinning tackle for all of my smallmouth fishing, but now that I have gotten away from the soft plastics for awhile, I have been throwing baitcasters exclusively for largemouth. That's another fairly significant change for me.

Have you Had Problems With Bass Pro Shops?
I have never had a problem of any kind with BPS. Since you are having trouble over the phone, perhaps e-mail would be a better avenue.

What was your first rod and reel?
Zebco spincast combination package. A little plastic rod and reel. Several years later I got a huge upgrade for Christmas. Another plastic Zebco (202?) and a slightly longer/ heavier fiberglass rod. Man, I thought that was cool!

MH casting rod , Which is the best?
No, not that I'm aware of. Dick's has had the best reported deals, but their selection has been limited. I bought one at Sportman's Warehouse, but they don't have an online store. Check this site periodically: http://www.reedssports.com/ They have a good selection, but are not currently offering much of a sale. That might change any day now.
