  1. Fluorocarbon can last a long time https://sunlineamerica.com/history-of-fishing-line-and-fluorocarbon-fishing-line/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluorocarbon#:~:text=Fluorocarbons%2C sometimes referred to as,contain only carbon and fluorine.

  3. What? I have about 28 small Germantown park ponds. We catch bass, and some are good ones, all winter. January and February are two of my best months! I'll recommend the Fish Head Underspin with a LFT Live Magic Shad trailer.
  4. WOW! You are a loyal customer. Now, on to the shortcomings. It screams 1980s. The design of the reel hasn't changed since release. Still the same reel I purchased long ago. Second, the rotor is unbalanced so it can be a little wobbly on the retrieve. While it does put off some, it can also be beneficial in giving your bait a little more action. Third, it has no instant anti-reverse, but uses an older ratchet style system. The wee bit of back play in the handle is a put off for many, but I have no complaints personally. Lastly, it isn't as smooth or refined feeling as most modern reels.
  5. I am sure he will be very happy and excited to get on the water.
  6. You won't get spooled unless you did not spool your reel properly.
  7. I began my Shimano adventure with the original Stradic twenty(?) years ago. Along the road I gave it to a friend who is still fishing the reel. Pricey? I don't think so.
  8. Placed my order Saturday, the day after Black Friday. Received my goodies today!
  9. 2500 Stradic Ci 4+ https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-SHIMNOREEL.html?from=basres The newest version is Stradic ST2500HGFL https://fish.shimano.com/content/fish/northamerica/us/en/homepage/Shimano_Product_Page.P-STRADIC_FL.html

  11. Well, I don't like money or a gift card as a present. That doesn't require any thought and seems lazy to me. My suggestion is not the end all, but I know the guy will be shocked. He will probably spend a ton of time researching what he got and that in itself will knock his socks off!
  12. Based on what she said "his gear is mostly junk", I doubt he knows much about high end gear. For that special gift, knocking it out of the park within the budge is a winner. Far more personal than a gift card.
  13. Okay, that makes sense to me, but for those that want to "kick it up a notch", I think Smackdown will surprise you.
  14. The shallow spool also holds exactly 200 yds of 0.165-mm braid - my use is for inshore ML and 1/8-ounce - Or the same 200 yds in 4-lb test mono. WOW! Seems like overkill to me.
  15. I would suggest two higher end outfits: Baitcasting G.Loomis IMX MBR 844C (rod) https://www.gloomis.com/content/gloomis/northamerica/usconv/en/homepage/PDP.P-IMX_PRO_MBR.html Shimano Curado 200K (reel) https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-SHIMNOREEL.html?from=basres G.Loomis IMX Pro Spinning IMX 842S SJR (rod) https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/G_Loomis_IMX_Pro_Spinning_Rods/descpage-IMXS.html Add a couple of stocking stuffers (line) Tatsu #6 (for the spinning reel) Tatsu #12 (baitcasting) https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/search-tackle.html?sort=no&start=0&count=30&searchtext=tatsu I assure you, your friend's husband will be "wowed".
