Whenever I fish with someone new or when a friend is buying equipment. Presentation comes into play most often when we are fishing off shore over deep structure. Fishing ledges is a specific example. Most of the time the fish stack up just off the drop and facing upstream. Sometimes dragging a bait rather than hopping makes all the difference in the world.

The fish may be holding at any depth on a given day. Generally the most important factors are cover, structure and the presence of baitfish.

With all the options available today, there is no reason to compromise. I want EVERYTHING to match or contrast, including my line, hat, pants, shirt, shoes and vest. The latest update from The Weather Channel is predicting another 2' of rain in Houston over the next 48 hours. Estimated total rainfall is +/- 5' (60"). Tracking predictions are all over the board, but we might be looking at the storm moving south back into the Gulf, picking up strength and re-targeting Houston. If Harvey returns to the Gulf and moves further east, New Orleans comes into play...BIG TIME.

Hmm... The Tennessee River reservoirs are better today than they have EVER been. I think that is certainly the case for smallmouth in the Great Lakes, too. Of special note is the recovery of Lake Erie. Cleaner, clearer and greater numbers than ever before.

Try them rigged a number of ways and see what you prefer. I am a big fan of the Jika Rig, too!

This is what I would consider the perfect all-around rod and perhaps my favorite production rod. My brother retired last spring and we spent a week fishing Toledo Bend. I gave him four rigs including the GLX 844C/ CTE200GT. That's all he fished and I let him keep it!
