  1. All of my ledge fishing has been on river reservoirs where the dominate variable is always current. Number two, as Keith "Hamma" Hatch noted, is depth. Next is the presence of fish that you can see with your electronics. My most successful presentation has been a 10" Thumper, Purple Fleck. ALWAYS cast up-river and retrieve on the bottom just fast enough or slow enough to match the current. The strike will usually come just as the worm falls over the drop. Some ledges or contour may extend a hundred yards or more. We like to identify the ledge using buoys, then casting beyond the imaginary line. Cover the area thoroughly, but if you don't get a bite on the first go around, move on to another ledge. The fish are either there or they on not. Come back later, the fish move around. The most successful ledge fisherman will accumulate a lot of way points over time and run from one to another fairly quickly. When you find one fish, you may find them all!

  3. An internal jig head allows the tube to circle on the fall. When the fish are active this motion can be killer. However, for the most part a Gitzit was designed as a "do nothing" lure: cast it out, light a smoke and pop-a-top. So, using a tube for a jig trailer is not going to produce the "action" you are probably looking for.
  4. Sounds like a great day!
  5. KVD Line & Lure Conditioner is a fine product, but the effectiveness varies over a broad range of lines. Red Label is a hard fluorocarbon and although some of our members swear by it, I only use it for leader, not mainline.
  6. No We have great desingers.
  7. Okuma Helios 701MH. I have recently acquired this rod and will post a review shortly. I have been VERY impressed. http://www.okumafishing.com/product/view/rods/tournament-bass/helios-1
  8. The fire is completely out of control and may DOUBLE in size today. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2016/05/07/officials-fear-massive-canada-wildfire-could-double-in-size.html?intcmp=hplnws
  9. Get you favorite color or one that compliments your rod & reel. It really doesn't make any difference.
  10. I have a strong preference for the 50 size. They can handle just about everything although I still fish the CTE200GT for deep divers and The Rig. p.s. I have a VERY GENTLY used Core 100MG that I might be interested in trading. I don't know why it is designated 100, it seems to be the same size as the Curado 200E.
  11. The Pinnacle Primmus and Okuma Helios Air are GREAT reels, especially at their pricing point.
  12. Woo-Hoo!
  13. Welcome aboard!
