  1. No, this changes the dynamics and compromises the action or subtleties of the presentation.
  2. T-rig can be weedless, jig head hooks are generally exposed.
  3. Rage Rig https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=rage+rig&view=detail&mid=B37926D526B9197BF58CB37926D526B9197BF58C&FORM=VIRE
  4. Pretty strong argument for at least giving Yo-Zuri Hybrid a shot.
  5. Sorry to hear about your dog, but we're not going to fuel the rage. Gotta end this before it blows up. -Kent
  6. Another great post! Nice pics.
  7. Welcome aboard!
  8. Fat Ika or Senko
  9. You don't NEED braid and you don't NEED a leader, it's just something I am experimenting with on a couple of rigs. An inexpensive alternative that I STRONGLY recommend is either #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid on spinning tackle or #12 on baitcasting gear. To address your other questions: My leader is about 18" long so it is not inside the guides. The connecting knot is an Alberto. The mainline is #40 Seaguar Smackdown. On other rigs I am fishing Tatsu #8 on spinning gear and #15 on baitcasting equipment. I have three rigs spooled with Smackdown, all with Tatsu leaders. For all treble hook presentations I am using #15 Sunline Defier Armilo.
  10. Ouch! However, you can have it replaced for $100. http://www.gloomis.com/content/g-loomis/us/en/home/fly-fish/support/xpeditor-program-details.html
  11. I helped with a demonstration for Germantown Parks last year. I was showing a VERY young boy how to reel, he nor his parents had ever been fishing. To my amazement he hooked up and with a little help, landed his first fish! A little later I was demonstrating how to fish topwater and just after telling the group that it was the wrong time of day, BAM! However, the bottom line is that the pond only produces small fish, probably 2-3 lbs max.
  12. Well, I'm not taking pics on the ground anymore, they never do justice to the fish. If there is someone around to take the picture for me, I'll post it up. In this case, another Memphis Pond Hopper might catch both of these fish, weigh them and post a picture...I hope it's you!
  13. 16/20 also know as a Duncan Knot or Pitzen Knot.
  14. Red Label for leader, InvizX for spinning tackle and AbrazX for baitcasters.
  15. That is a key factor in my mind, too.

  17. Two From Grove Started around 10:30 AM with no bites until 11:00. Gear: MBR844C/ Chronarch 50Mg/ #40 Smackdown/ #15 Tatsu leader/ 1/2 oz Rage Blade (white skirt)/ Rage Structure Bug (white with the tail stained chartreuse using JJ's Magic). Cast and retrieve near, but not on the bottom. First bite, first fish at 11:00 on top of the ridge at the second culvert. I thought I was caught up on the jig magnet that you all know so well! Initially lifted the rod softly, but when the line jumped I became Bill Dance with my hook-set! The fish inspired me and another guy fishing across the pond in the snake & tick forest. Estimated weight 6 1/2 lbs. A few more casts and back around to the walkway. Second bite at 11:15 just beyond the second bench. I caught this fish several times last year and a few members here also landed what we believe is the same fish. Last year it was officially weighed at 7 1/2 lbs. I hope one of you catch and weigh her, I think she will go 8 or maybe even a little better. Please be careful with our pets. Take a quick pic and release them gently. -Kent
  18. Welcome aboard!
  19. Technically correct, but I think fishermen divide lines into categories in what might be "fishing nomenclature" Monofilament = nylon Fluorocarbon: A blend of fluorocarbon crystals and resins Copolymer: A blend of two or more materials, i.e. nylon and fluorocarbon Braid: "String" regardless of the material or weave
