  1. Nice to see you back. Merry Christmas to you and the family! -Kent
  2. With all the accolades, Peyton still needs to win The Big One again. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/magazine/sportsman/
  3. Russell Wilson joins Peyton Manning and Dan Marino as the only quarterbacks to throw 50+ touchdowns in their first two seasons. A red hot quarterback and the NFL's #1 defense is a strong combination. I had no dog in the fight, but the Packers - Cowboy game might have been the most exciting game of the weekend...Or maybe it was Dolphins upsetting the Patriots, but that game wasn't televised locally.
  4. I have not handled a newer model, but Hammer Rods usually have a booth at the outdoor shows here in Memphis. Do you know any stores that carry the brand regionally? If there is a store in this area I would be glad to check them out for you. -Kent
  5. I know you are new to the Forum, but hijacking a thread is frowned upon. If you were a respondent rather than an OP, the last several posts would have been removed. At any rate, start a new thread next time, they are free! -Kent
  6. Surprising upsets this week.
  7. Whatever you buy, fish it! "Gently used" will hold it's value, but chances are you will love fishing the reels and never sell them.
  8. Core 50MG if you find it on sale. Some guys have mentioned prices as low as $210.
  9. Hmm... I don't think sound transfers well from air to water.
  10. 3:33 of my life wasted.
  11. I would add an AVS68MXF spinning rod to the mix.
  12. Start by manually adjusting the line. Guide the line by holding it between your thumb and index finger. Keep the line left and to center for maybe ten spool rotations then spool another 25 rotations with normal retrieve. Repeat if necessary until it looks about right. After doing this a few times you will develop a feel for the right amount of line.
  13. Here ya go: https://store.baits.com/product.php?productid=84&cat=34&page=1
  14. Rapala puts the X-Rap in a different category, "slash bait" not jerkbait. The major difference is the fast, erractic action of the lure. I think it is generally too fast for winter fishing. I think you would do better with a more subtle approach.
  15. Legend has it that the Gitzit was born in Arkansas and designed to be a "do nothing" lure. Cast it out, put down your rod, turn up the music, light up a cigarette and pop a top. Southern fishing at it's finest!
  16. Wow! Just read a forecast calling for 5'-6' of snow. Is that even possible?
  17. Sworming Hornet/ LFT Live Magic Shad Cast and let the lure sink to the bottom. Holding your rod at about 10:00, reel up quickly, then allow the lure to fall on slack line. Repeat until you feel you are "out of the zone". DO NOT pump the rod, that simply moves the bait forward.
  18. Maybe it has something to do with your "slightly above average" coach and a "slightly above average" quarterback.
  19. Maybe Rage Tail Purple Gold http://www.ragetail.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Rage_Craw_Color_Selection_Chart2.jpg
  20. Avid AVS66MLF/ Shimano Symetre 1000FL
  21. OUCH! The Chargers outplayed the Broncos. Even more surprising was losing at home!
  22. For a weedless presentation I prefer inserted tube weights. T-rigged, C-riiged or shakey heads are other options. I have had some great luck with the MegaStrike Tube Craw rigged on the Shak e2 Pro Series. http://www.megastrikefishingproducts.com/shop/mega-tube-soft-plastic/
  23. A lot of guys on the Tennessee River keep all spots to eat or give away, even those of us that are otherwise C&R ONLY. In Tennessee they are classified as a "game fish", otherwise they would all be kept. Some lakes in Alabama and Georgia have been taken over by this species, dramatically reducing largemouth populations.
