  1. Yo-Zuri Hybrid #4 has a breaking strength of 8.5 lbs. If you want a pure fluorocarbon, Tatsu #6 is a GREAT line. InvizX #8 is about the same diameter as most 4lb test line.
  2. How old is old? http://www.cbsnews.com/news/ming-the-clam-worlds-oldest-animal-was-actually-507-years-old/
  3. Did Bill give him a signed hat?
  4. I have had VERY good luck using both the Rage Tail Thumper and Annaconda.
  5. Start with Under Armour and build on that. Layering is the key. For the most part, uninsulated Cabela's Guidewear is all I need. If it's a little colder I will add a coat. I only wear gloves when we are running. Keeping my feet warm is the biggest issue. Sorel boots are a MUST for me.
  6. My vote would be for spinning gear. However, if you deside to go with electronics, consider the Dragonfly: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/128646-raymarine-dragonfly-review/ Here is another option: http://vexilar.com/info/sonarphone-mobile-depth-sounder-app/
  7. I have two Optimus XLT and recently acquired the XiHS http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/pinnacle-optimus-xlt-dhc-review.html http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/128588-pinnacle-review/
  8. Pinnacle has three otions depending on your pricing point: http://www.pinnaclefishing.com/shop/s-5-Tournament-Class-Reels.aspx
  9. Well, it's not the best time of year to target largemouth in Iowa, so don't be too disappointed if the fishing is slow. As spring approaches, the fishing will heat up with the weather. Let's look at a couple of lures for various depths that are usally considered "affordable". Topwater: Zara Spook, Sammy and Pop R, Cavitron Jerkbait: Smithwick Rogue Shallow crankbaits: Norman Fat Boy, Bandit 200, KVD 2.5 Middle range: Red Eye Shad, Fat Free Shad Soft Plastics: GYCB Senko & Fat Ika, MegaStrike MegaTube Craw & MegaBug and Rage Tail everything! Jigs: Siebert Outdoors and MegaStrike Evolution Spinnerbaits: MegaStrike StrikeBack and Siebert Cosmic That should get you started!
  10. Teamwork might be the ticket. If you make it to the Roadtrip, we'll fish together one day. You do the casting, I'll do the retrieving!
  11. We're getting pretty close to the line gentlemen. I realize politics is big part of this type of discussion, but we have a long standing policy that everyone is aware of. So, I think we are just about to the end of this thread. -Kent
  12. I'm still experimenting, but another important aspect of using a leader is the ability to break-off when you need to. I fish a lot of fast moving water and sometimes it's just not feasible to work with a plug-knocker. Fishing from the bank is another example.
  13. A new "collection" of these: Three Glass Perch and one of every other color! "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity" DHJ12 Rapala in glass perch has put more smallmouth in my boat than any other jerkbait I have ever fished. Period.
  14. Here ya go: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/128588-pinnacle-review/
  15. Hmm... You will find the CI4+ ready to fish right out of the box.
  16. They are designed to hold more line and/or heavier line. I don't like anything about them, I don't like deep spools either.
  17. The first time you are told there is "No charge for senior coffee".
  18. Pretty much triangulated: Louisville, KY, Chattanoga, TN, Jackson, MS. Was was more interesting was where I was DEFINITELY NOT from: Yonkers, Newark and Jersey City!
  19. We have two pages running down about six lines: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/128563-pork-butt-tips/
