  1. The smallmouth size limit was reduced to 15" to conform with the adjacent state regulations. All of Pickwick is now at a 15" minimum. However, this does NOT apply to anyone fishing with me or my friends. In our boats the minimum size for keeping a smalljaw is 12lbs 1oz.
  2. I'm confused. JFrancho said the Lew's, Abu Garcia and Flooger internal parts were basically identical. So, which is it?
  3. The Optimus XLT fits the bill. This will be my second season fishing this reel. I have been VERY impressed and consider it a great value. The gold finish will surprise even the most finicky fisherman. There is not a single blemish on this reel which cannot be said of any other equipment I own! It's truely amazing. In terms of performance, I feel the reel is comparable in every way to the Core.
  4. MegaStrike is THE BOMB!
  5. Especially Bobby (MegaStrike) and Big O (Rage Tail). Both have a strong commitment to "proprietary designs". p.s. Trying to patent a lure is a complete waste of time and money. Look no further than the Alabama Rig for example.
  6. The simply analogy is a GMC version of a Chevy truck. The Lew's are built in the same Abu Garcia factory.
  7. See if you can blow up this pic: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/user/5051-fish-chris/ That is my "Favorite All-Time", but yours is GREAT, too!
  8. Puting smallmouth in the live well will also bring out the tiger stripes and darken the fish for a MUCH better pic!
  9. You will need that shirt at Pickwick.
  10. I don't know, so place your order and see what happens. -Kent
  11. First impressions are good: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/114013-tuf-line-supercast-first-impressions/
  12. Jerkbaits I definitely don't need anymore, but I can't wait to try the Smithwick Perfect Ten!
  13. Johnson Silver Minnow
  14. I have a pound of #6 and #12 that I bought more than a year ago. I think the line will be good forever if stored in at mid range temperatures. I don't really know, but there is so much line on these spools, I will let you know in 5 or 6 years!
  15. Pinnacle: http://www.bassresou...rods-and-reels/ http://www.bassresou...imbait-rod-711/ http://www.bassresou...T-perfecta.html http://www.bassresou...rma-review.html http://www.bassresou...dhc-review.html
  16. Well, I've asked The Posse to stay away from threads on other brands. So, Shimano is still the overwelming choice for "what is the best" threads and our unscientific polls. I've noticed a trend towards Lew's. They don't reallly have an adequate track record yet, but if they hold up over time. Lew's could be a contender. What disappoints me is the lack of interest in Pinnacle. Man, their relatively new line of both rods and reels is absoluting amazing!
  17. MegaStrike MegaBug, Rage Tail 7" Thumper and GYCB Kut Tail
  18. Me, too!
  19. Jerkbaits are my favorite lures to "collect". I like some other brands, but what stands out about the Smithwick Rogues is "value". Two weeks ago I had a 30+ day with a couple on the Red Eye Shad, the rest on different Rogues. The lure is every bit as effective as the higher priced brands. To be fair, there are a couple of knocks on the bait that are pretty well known, but that can be easily addressed. 1. Suspension can be an issue right out of the box or after some usage. Dots will fix this problem. 2. The hooks are just fine to start with, but you may want to change them out later. I'm really excited to get my paws on The Perfect 10, Smithwick's newest introduction. I will post a review after I fish these a few times.
  20. I have a small tackle room with rods on a wall and tackle on peg boards and in open shelving. Doing my homework and keeping in touch with guys that fish the same water I knew the bite was going to be restricted to jerkbaits, Red Eye Shad and The Rig. So, for this outing all I needed was three combos and three Plano boxes. Preparing for the RoadTrip is a different challenge. Do you take everything? In my big bag I carry everything I "might" want, but I still use the little bag for the stuff I know I will fish for one day. Pretty simple. Store my big bag and "spares" in the SUV, take the day bag on the boat. I will be fishing as a non-boater and bring no more than four rods per day.
  21. You guys win...just picked up a couple of Lazy Ike, pure pink and pink w/ black dots!
  22. I own a lot of brands, but they are all obsolete. The Red Eye Shad rules! Anything works ripping through grass, but the unique forward fall puts this lure is a class of its own.
