  1. Points are always a good option.

  3. I fish both. St. Croix is the "better value", but I think G. Loomis is the better rod. Both companies produce fine equipment. You might want to consider the Pinnacle rods, too. They have gotten EXCELLENT reviews! http://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/pinnacle-optimus-xlt-dhc-review.html
  4. Looks like a waste of $2 to me. The major retailers, including our sponsors, BPS and Cabelas, always have junk in their sales bin. Occasionally there is something worth buying, but not often. Your money is spent more wisely purchasing a few lures "highly recommended" by members you trust.
  5. That's a beauty!
  6. Nice fish, great pic! :respect-040:
  7. Supposedly the best fishing is four days before and four days after the full moon. Friday was the blue moon, the second full moon in August. Today is the second day after the full moon. We'll see how it goes...
  8. KVD Line & Lure Conditioner is THE BOMB!
  9. If you can service them yourself, I would suggest OFTON! Otherwise, once a year is probably just fine.
  10. PR844C/ Core 100/ Sunline Super Natural More generally: For enthusiasts, technique specific gear is fun to collect. However, three rigs cover all the basics: #1 6 1/2' or 7' MH baitcaster for jigs, some soft plastics and spinnerbaits #2 6 1/2' or 7' MM baitcaster for treble hook lures #3 7' MF spinning rod for lighter lures and a variety of techniques
  11. Geez.... Those fish aren't worth a pic...
  12. DVT supertuned two of my Curados. The noise was too much for me. I lubed them with a drop of Shimano oil. The change in "maximum" performance is not noticeable to me. My reels are PERFECT in every way and quiet.
  13. Congratulations! :respect-059:
  14. Start with a Norman Fat Boy (Redear) for a shallow presentation. KVD 3.5 a little deeper. Red Eyed Shad (lipless) 5'-10' DD22 deep
  15. Xr50 Blue Chrome
  16. Congratulations! Add a dozen of these to my current order that is under construction. I like black, but make a few in your favorite colors. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior
  17. Order direct from our sponsors, Siebert Outdoors and NothStar Custom Baits http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/ http://www.northstar...s.com/home.html For trailers, take a look at Rage Tail, too! http://www.ragetail.com/
  18. Response from George Welcome, Professional Guide: Let's get technical, as there are in fact reasons, not just some lame holdover from days past that put the handles where they are. What will move the fish during retrieval is placed to the strong hand! A baitcast is designed to be used as a winch, so it is the reel that retrieves the fish. Hence if you are right handed the handle is in your right hand. A spinning reel is designed to pick up unloaded or loose line, not retrieve the fish. Hence it is the rod that does the retrieval, so it is the rod that is in your strong hand. If you are right handed then the pole goes to the right hand.
  19. The Forums are fun, but right now you should spend your time in the BassResource "libraries". Read are the "Fishing Articles" and "Videos" at the top of the page. I think you will find the topics VERY informative.
  20. I think you will like the original just fine. I suggest #12 treated with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner as you initially spool.
