  1. My partner yells "Mother Goose!" as opposed of some other mother... :
  2. Important Announcement: We have reserved the "Board Room" at the lodge, Monday through Wednesday from 5:00-8:00. BYOB and be discrete, the lodge is technically dry, but not aggressively enforced. -Kent
  3. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  4. This is my line-up: BCR854/ Curado E7: jigs MBR844C/ STX: weighted soft plastics MBR784C/ CTE200GT: striper rod (live bait) MBR842C/ Core 50MG7: shaky heads, drop shot and moving soft plastics PR844C/ Core 100: topwater PR844S/ Stella 2500FD: live bait and light artificials My other rods are four Avids and two Legend Elite, one Dobyns, Lamiglas and a Fenwick. 8-)
  5. If you want to stick with monofilament, Trilene XL for spinning gear, XT or Big Game for baitcasting. Copolymer, try P-Line CXX or Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Both are high quality fishing lines at a reasonable price. 8-)
  6. Jerkbaits and lipless cranks on the Tennessee River. GMAN mop jig with a Rage Tail Lobster on local ponds. 8-)
  7. Your favorite color will work just fine. 8-)
  8. Medium Heavy Power/ FAST Action AVC70MHF If it's AVC70MHM, it's for treble hooks. The term or "medium action" is Moderate. 8-)
  9. St. Croix Avid AVC66MF which has a soft tip. 8-)
  10. Both! Fat Ika are subtle. When the bass are "chasing", crankbaits will be more effective. Secondly, cranks can be fished at any depth; Fat Ika are for water <12' deep. 8-)
  11. I guess that didn't come across too well. Let me try again: The rod can be used for some applications, but its characteristics are now significantly different.
  12. Man...Just living the dream! 8-)
  13. Someone had an Avid for sale last week in our Flea Market for $105. With a little patience, you could buy one inside your budget. I specifically recommend the AVC68MXF, but either AVC70MF or AVC70MHF would be just fine. For just a few dollars more, I suggest G. Loomis IMX MBR844C. 8-)
  14. Okay...What shall it be? Edit and tick some guys off or close and tick people off? Hmm...I choose door B... This thread is closed. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  15. The rod is broken and has lost all of it's original action: "I've got an old Eagle Claw rod that used to be 7'6" that I inherited from my late grandfather. The tip was broken when I go it so it's closer to 7'3" or so. It's a broom handle..."
  16. I don't know if your rod is worth fishing, but sensitivity is EVERYTHING to fishing a jig. I recommend 1/2 oz, solid black stand-up jig with a blue craw trailer (Baby Paca Craw or Rage Tail Craw). 8-)
  17. It's magical...Really! Once your "get it" you've "got it", but it is hard to explain: Being one with the jig. 8-)
  18. Here are a couple: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141053342 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 8-)
  19. Thank you for the correction. That makes a ton of sense. Consolidating their operation should help maintain better control. 8-)
  20. Blanks, reel seat, components and manufacturing. The Avid series is a far superior rod. The Triumph is made in China and was initially plagued with quality control issues. The Avid has been the standard for St. Croix over the years. 8-)
  21. Nope, it only has to be caught "legally" with a rod and reel. 8-)
  22. The best plan in any state is fishing the water with the highest probability of raising the biggest bass. In this region, it's Dale Hollow or the Tennessee River for smallmouth bass. For green fish, there are lots of options. Small water, private ponds and not so well known lakes are all possibilities. Paul is only a pound away from a new Tennessee state record. Our record is 14-8 and I think Paul is at 13-8.His fish is in his avatar: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=27242A23252C3A2A4D0 8-)
  23. Hmm... I prefer size. GMAN tied some black Mop jigs for me: 3/4 oz football head, 5/0 EWG hooks, stand up profile. The trailer I use is the Rage Tail Lobster dipped in JJ's or slathered in MegaStrike. This presentation makes a statement: Little fish stay away! http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/index.php/g-mop-jig 8-)
  24. This thread is about the Megabass PopMax. There are plenty of alternatives and two topwater threads currently running. Go there or start another thread if you want to tout something else. Back on topic, here is Tackle Tour's review: http://www.tackletour.com/reviewmbpopmax.html 8-)
  25. Nice fish, great pic! 8-)
