  3. All GMAN jigs are hand made and durable, although I still tend to lose a lot. Rocks, trees and stumps really like them, too! Generally, he uses Mustad hooks, but I think the Mop Jig is made with a 6/0 Owner. Based soley on the picture of the Buckeye Mop jig on their website, GMAN's jig appears to have twice as many strands. I have never has any issue with his weedguards or paint. 8-)
  4. I know... :-[ That's why I make no claim as to size. So many guys on this forum, like yourself, post up fish that are weighed and have pictures. I love the pics, too! :'(
  5. Great Lake perch. Walley is second followed by crappie, yellowfin tuna and Mahi-mahi. Striper is the fish I eat most often. I also like wild salmon if it is cooked rare. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  6. It's not you...the water is still too cold.
  7. I think you will be much happier and feel much more secure buying new line and spinnerbaits. 8-)
  8. Alberto's Knot http://www.stripersonline.com/Pages/Articles/article_arby_albertos_knot.shtml 8-)
  9. Big day today fishing GMAN's 3/4 oz custom jig with Big O's Rage Tail Lobster as a trailer. The presentation is about the size of a softball and makes a statement: Little guys stay away! I'm pretty sure my first fish today will be my best largemouth this year. The second fish, the little one, looked to be 5-6 lbs. http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  10. My partner fished the Red Eye Shad and did very well. I fished XCalibur Xr50. You MUST carry a lure retriever if you are going to fish any kind of submersed treble hook lure. We retrieved a number of hang-ups with 100% success. 8-)
  11. Hmm...Not around here. Tournament guys and a lot of serious recreational fishermen release bass. However, the Tennessee and Mississippi Rivers have always been noted for "meat hunters". Fisherman target crappie, catfish, striper, sauger, white bass and gills. Largemouth, smallmouth and spots are favorites for table fare, too. I hate to see any of my pet brown fish taken, but medium size green fish don't bother me at all. For that matter, I would prefer having limits removed on spots and a bounty paid for removing drum, buffalo and gar. 8-)
  12. I have been fishing with Tim (Hot Dawg) Curtis for ten years. If you are looking for a guide, look no further! Here's his latest fishing report: http://www.hotdawgguideservice.com/fishreport/fishreport.htm 8-)
  13. Unfortunately, heavy rain really hurts pond fishing. Otherwise, whatever has been working is still your best bet. 8-)
  14. Fished last Saturday on Pickwick, below Wilson Dam. I couldn't find the smallmouth, although one found me! We did well with the green fish throwing lipless cranks (18), Wiggle Worts (4) and 6 1/2" Kut Tail on 3/8 oz Shake2 jig heads (5). All bass were caught in 4-8' of water off gravel banks. 8-)
  15. Several posts on this thread have been deleted. I posted this as a "Heads-Up", not to resurrect additional discussion. This thread will remain open so other members will see it, but the "topic" is closed. -Kent
  16. It's just part of the mix, one rod with each. No more than 10 fishing hours on each. So far, no issues and most surprising, very little memory. Don't read too much into this, I'm still Mr. Yo-Zuri! ;D ;D

  18. Seaguar Inviz #8 for spinning tackle. AbrazX #12 for baitcasting gear. I'm just starting to experiment, but so far I like these lines. The downside is their cost: $16 and $20 for 200 yards. Ouch! 8-)
  19. If the above was to me, yes, set it up. If a deposit is required, and a credit card is acceptable, get me the particulars and I'll do it right away. I'll get it set up. -Kent
  20. The Feds are NOT putting rstrictions on recreational fishing. PLEASE refer to ESPN's apology for posting an op-ed as hard news. We have removed a number of threads over the last few days. PLEASE, do not start another thread on this topic. In a March 9 piece on ESPNOutdoors.com, Robert Montgomery wrote that the "Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing some of the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters." ESPNOutdoors.com executive editor Steve Bowman later posted the following acknowledgement on the site: ESPNOutdoors.com inadvertently contributed to a flare-up Tuesday when we posted the latest piece in a series of stories on President Barack Obama's newly created Ocean Policy Task Force, a column written by Robert Montgomery, a conservation writer for BASS since 1985. Regrettably, we made several errors in the editing and presentation of this installment. Though our series has included numerous news stories on the topic, this was not one of those -- it was an opinion piece, and should clearly have been labeled as commentary. And while our series overall has examined several sides of the topic, this particular column was not properly balanced and failed to represent contrary points of view. We have reached out to people on every side of the issue and reported their points of view -- if they chose to respond -- throughout the series, but failed to do so in this specific column. ____________________ -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  21. No. I find KVD makes a noticeable difference. -Kent
  22. Me either... 8-)
  23. I bought the 3600 simply because it's about as heavy (when loaded) as I want to carry to the truck or boat. Wuss? You bet! :
  24. Probably...She's a beauty for sure! 8-)
