  1. I don't get it...There should be no limits for spots or white bass. Keep and kill them all. 8-)

  6. That's right! Insurance covers a rental car and State Farm will cut him a check for "book value" in ten days. Best of all, his aunt is on the hunt for another car for my son/ her nephew, so he will come out just fine. 8-)
  7. You really only need three rods: 1. Spinning rig: 6 1/2' or 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action; Stradic CI4). For all weightless soft plastics and light lures. SJR783S or SJR843S 2. Baitcasting: 7' Medium Power/ Moderate Action; Revo SX reel. For all treble hooks. CRB843C 3. Baitcasting: 7' Heavy Power/ Fast Action; Shimano CTE200GT. For jigs, weighted soft plastics and just about anything up to an ounce or so. MBR844C

  13. Baitfish tend to move upstream in the spring and summer to spawn which concentrates them below the dams on the Tennessee River. Different species are predominate at different times. In the fall, the yellowtail (threadfin shad) move to the back of coves in shallow, warmer water. The concentration can be amazing. In the winter, baitfish tend to school in open water. Fishing can be challenging in this situation, but the predators are there, following the bait. Most importantly, during the winter here in the Mid South, smallmouth move from deeper water to shallower haunts. They sometimes concentrate and will spawn in late winter. Prime time is mid October through early March. 8-)
  14. Why not a beer can, some kite string and a "found" hook? That rig is almost free!

    Man, that's a fine fish! 8-)
  16. My son is a second year med student in Tucson. Last night his Nissan Frontier was stolen...10 years old and 230,000 miles! Man, hardly worth a thing, but we were hoping to get two more years out of it. Oh well, at least no one got hurt. >
  17. WOW! Great post. ;D ;D ;D
  18. Skirt forward, weightless & weedless. 8-)
  19. Never caught a fish on the Spro BBZ-1. It now resides with my Kick-Tail collection! All show and no go as far as I'm concerned. :-X
  20. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  21. For river fishing, current is everything! Water temperature and seasonal bait migration are the only other factors. Weather and moon phases have little or no impact on river fish. 8-)
  22. Totally different rigs and locations: Striper: gizzard shad, threadfin (yellowtail) and skipjack. Fish these on a 3-way swivel and a 3 oz. weight, bumping bottom in and just below the boils. Sauger: 3/4-1 oz green suager jig tipped with a small minnow. Fish the outside of the current, on structure near the dam. Otherwise, you have to find the schools in the river and stay on them. Note: Unlike any other fishing I know of, sauger fishermen fish together. If you see boats huddled up, join them! Generally, striper season is spring through fall. Sauger school to breed in the winter, mid December through February. 8-)
  23. It's not true all the time, but you probably remember the Marlins buying a World Series. A-Rod's salary is more than several team rosters! 8-)
  24. Nope, profit sharing and parity is the NFL business model. Baseball has subsidies for the smaller markets, but the rich (generally) rule! http://www.economist.com/businessfinance/displaystory.cfm?story_id=6859210 8-)
