  1. Appreciate the input brotha, I know exactly what you mean. Hopefully will be stopping by a store with them after work tommorow to test them out.
  2. Hey y'all I recently acquired a Dobyns furry 705 CB and paired it up with a curado, but I just wasn't a huge fan of the curado and got rid of it. I've been looking at the Lews BB1 or BB1 pro to replace it and have been looking all over online to see the difference of the two and cannot make a decision. I've even found a couple of posts on here, but nothing really persuaded me. Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys!
  3. Since you said you've always used a shimano, I would suggest for the reel to go with a Shimano Casistas, it's about 100 bucks retail and a great piece to learn about baitcasting. For the rod, I would go with a Dobyns. And they have different types of series so I would reccomend the Dobyns Furry for you, great rod and performs very well out of its price range, worth every penny! It's about 110 retail.
  4. Braid is known to cast longer in some cases as well as if you backflash, its easier to pick out than say mono.
  5. Reels: One and three fishing and Shimano Rods: Dobyns and Shakespeare
  6. Set the drag tight when you're spooling it For the cheap mono I would recommend either Trilene XL or XT, very good line to learn on. Practice thumbing the spool when you cast and make sure you get that down, pretty tricky Make sure you set the breaks high, minimizes backlashes.
  7. Big fan the casitas, been fishing with it for about a season and its a great reel! The only negative thing people talk about it is the graphite frame.
  8. I've owned the casitas for a couple or so months now and It's my favorite reel so far! Very smooth casting and you can bomb lures very far! I use it mainly with spinner baits, senkos and smaller jigs. Mainly cast anything above 1/4 oz with it, but I've casted some lures lighter than that on it before and it handled it pretty well. I strongly recommend this reel I've had no experience with the origin TX, but I do use a *** A and enjoy that reel.
  9. Will take a look at the Suffix Siege, appreciate it!
  10. Makes sense, appreciate the advice brotha!
  11. Will take a look at it for sure, thank you! Will take a look at it, thanks man! I've heard XT is a good trolling line and I see I see. And noted, thank you for the info!
  12. I've heard that and XL is'nt much of a improvement, diameter wise.
  13. You know I tried braid, but it's really not worth it to me. And I'll take a look at XL, thank you!
  14. I've heard XL is more limp and allows for longer casting. But wasn't XT made for casting and XL made for spinning outfits? And I was actually looking at yo zuri Will take a look at that thank you! Will take a look at it thank you!
  15. Casting For the people who use XT, would you say the line diameter poses a problem? As far as the line not sinking or anything like that?
  16. Hey y'all I've done a lot of research and looking around, especially on the forums, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to just ask my question straight forward lol. I'm still learning stuff everyday and trying to figure out what I like best. I got tripped up with reading about diameter and all that specifics stuff so my question is, is Trilene XT ok for multi-purpose situations? If not, what monofilament line would you recommend? What would you guys say for XL for baitcasting? Baitcaster
  17. You could put on 30 LB mono or fluro, but the reel is rated for probably line way lesser than that, so it won't probably fit much of 30 LB.
  18. Check out the dobyns furry line, it's in youre price range as well!
  19. This had me on the floor LOL
  20. I honestly have never picked up a rod/reel from them but I know some popular youtubers use them such as lunkertstv, peric, jon b and jiggin with jordan. Some of them even have their own rod/reel named after them. They are appealing to the younger community with their cool looking stuffs
