  1. Nope - if it's organic, it's cover. Rocks, hollows, trenches (river bottoms in reservoirs) are all part of the topography of the lake/river bed...that's structure. These things remain season to season virtually unchanged...you can go decades without structure changing unless it's human caused. Growing weeds, fallen trees - that's cover. These things change in much shorter time scale...weeds grow from spring to fall, then die back during winter while fallen trees rot away in a few years. All cover is 'temporary' even if it's recurring.
  2. We don't have much, if any, laydowns in Tonka - so lily pads, hydrilla, coontail, pondweed and milfoil are the cover of choice here
  3. See if there's a guide local to you that puts out fishing reports. Here in the Minneapolis Metro area, we have one who does a YouTube report every Sunday on 'where are the fish and what baits are working'.
  4. Find out what the main forage in your lake(s) are...then select a lure that comes close or even matches that. Here in MN - main swimming forage for bass is bluegills, pumpkinseeds, crappie and perch. Add crayfish for 'off the bottom'.
  5. Don't forget the chanting and dancing naked in the moonlight...
  6. Minnesota we can take snappers with a shell that's at least 12" from front to back from July 1 to April 30 Western Painted turtles that are between 4 and 5 1/2 inches in shell length are also legal all year round. I haven't taken any....had turtle soup once - if I was starving and nothing else was available I'd eat it again...
  7. One I could eat at least weekly and never tire of? Broiled salmon - just a little butter, salt and pepper Steamed asparagus - a drizzle of butter over it Twice-baked potato - cheddar cheese and bacon bits...skip the sour cream Apple crisp for dessert
  8. Ya - even with Stabil, I wouldn't use any gas more than 6 months old. If it's oxygenated (with ethanol in it)...reduce that by half
  9. They lied to you - the Yen has been going down vs the dollar for the last two weeks...they should have charged you less if ti was actually based on the exchange rate. $1 = ?Yen chart

If they're being an idiot...of course I'm gonna let them know it with my horn.
  11. PayPal charges you a fee for currency conversion.
  12. Reason for avoiding YT? Missing out on a lot of good, instructional videos from places other than BR by doing so. You can find the BR vids on the 'Videos' page here - plays on the BR page without actually going to Youtube.
  13. This is a rule for me whether it's braid/mono/FC/hybrid. Always leave a bit of a tag - better to collect a small amount of weeds/algae rather than lose a lure when the knot slips.
  14. Personally Casting: Drop the 6'0" rod - keep the rest ...so many techniques for the M/F and MH/F that you can have them all rigged with something different. Spinning: Really all you need for bass fishing is a M/F and a ML/F - the rest can be set aside for panfish/trout.
  15. Depends on the technique I'm using...sometimes yes, sometimes no.
  16. Dive into it a little and yes...that's a good pic of you, Kent.
  17. ol'crikety recently joined and has been fairly active. LadiMopar has been a member for several years - but hasn't been active since May. I'm sure there's others.
  18. I looked at that and the stats they post is way out of wack for a Fuego - 2 bearings? 380yds of 12#? Not any CT I've owned...and I have all three models - 6.3:1, 7.3:1, 8.1:1 Amazon has a decent price on a Fuego CT-HS right now....$87 https://www.amazon.com/Daiwa-0001-4482-Fgct100Hs-Fuego-Speed/dp/B06VWMR5S3?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER And yes, owning Aird-X rods, they're a great starter rod...I'm still using my MH/F for moving baits in fact.
  19. Topwater Spook Whopper Plopper Floating Jerk
  20. That was one of my 'checks' at the top of the thread. Ya, he didn't mention what #test he's using - if it's mono and over 8#...that'd be a worry As Tom said - keep it to .010 diameter or less on a 2500 or smaller reel....I've gone to .012 on a 3000 without issue...but it's pushing it.
  21. Remember - hard spending limit listed above. Doubt you could get me one for that...nice idea though, Mike. ?
  22. Dude, those cost almost as much as I paid for the F-9....or the outboard.
