  1. I have to agree with you, Tom. Only true application specific I have are my two MH/MF rods - one spinning, one casting - for treble lures. I do have a Light and a Medium-Light for ultra-finesse and general finesse; but those can double for panfish/trout. Only 'personal' application specific is my MH/F spinning rig - because I'm pants at skipping with a baitcaster and I want to skip jigs, spinners and chatters. The rest of my rods are 'general purpose' and can fulfill more than one 'slot' in the technique column.
  2. May main exercise is going up-and-down the back stairs every time I want a cigarette...wife is a non-smoker so rain or shine, warm or cold, I step out the back door when I want a smoke...and the back door is at the walk-out basement level.
  3. Uh - no. I do all my electrical work myself...but I'm not bonded so I couldn't do yours.
  4. 50+ years of using spinning reels and I agree totally with this. The less twist you have on the reel to start with, the better.
  5. Nope - went above zero today - so the streak has been broken.
  6. I just think back to the old days and what we call 'start of summer/winter' was called 'mid-summer/mid-winter' because of sun placement against the background stars. Based on that, beginning of February was considered the start of spring, beginning of May the start of summer in olden times. So really, we're a week into the spring season for those of us with a grounding in ancient practices.
  7. Could always hint and have HER do your upgrades.
  8. I've been spooling my own line since I was 8 - just follow the guidelines, don't overfill, and it's pretty much a snap.
  9. Sweet - forgot about that...thanks Hawk.
  10. And for those of us who 'cut the cable'...is there going to be any streaming, or are we out of luck?
  11. Posted the BC rigs previous page - and with the FR703SF arriving today, now I can put up the spinning rigs for the coming year. L-R Mitchell Avocet RZT-1000/7' Diawa Procyon L/F Pflueger President 25/7' Dobyns Fury 702SF ML/F Mitchell Avocet RZT-2000/7' Dobyns Fury 703SF M/F Pflueger President XT-LE 30/7' Okuma Stratus VI MH/MF Mitchell Avocet RZT-3000/7' Okuma Reflexions MH/F
  12. And it's here - I'll be putting a 'family portrait' of the spinning rigs up in the 'Show' thread a little later - was just waiting on this to get here.
  13. You can bench-test it in the house without needing to actually 'use' it.
  14. I like a little range in colors - dark, light, and either a natural and a bright or two naturals..so Mr Twister 4" - Smoke Flake, White Pearl, Pumpkin Pepper, Chartreuse Zoom Fat Albert Twin-Tail - Black, White Pearl, Green Pumpkin Purple, Rootbeer Pepper Green That pretty much covers my grubs...
  15. Tear-down and clean of the reel - there's plenty of YouTube instruction videos on cleaning a BC reel. Re-assemble and test it. If that doesn't correct the issue, them replacing the AR bearing might be the next step. If the reel is still under warranty, shipping it back is what you need to do. Otherwise, check with DVT here to see if he's got an opening...a lot of guys here have him do their reels for them.
  16. Hot-tub, man...hot-tub.
  17. Sounds like an issue with the AR bearing. Could be oil/grease on the bearing is making it slip, or the bearing itself is shot.
  18. I think you got the Fuego CT instead of the TD - but ya, I haven't had to adjust the spool tension on either of my CTs since I first set them.
  19. Short, sweet and to the point. Great little explanation, Glenn.
  20. The end is in sight...woo-hoo!
  21. Paul, man...mellow out...was a joke.
  22. Strawberry is sooo....20th Century. Has to be black raspberry preserves.
  23. Dude - you rock. Pass it on indeed. I hope everything works out the way you want it to there, still sounds like a dream job despite the 'headaches' of being a GM. I hear about it because a friend of mine up here is a hotel GM.
  24. Makes me sick sometimes - he's only 2-months older than I am and he's in better shape than I was at my best back when I was 30.
