  1. I grew up on Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath - still listen to the old metal quite often Lately, however, I've been more into Symphonic Metal - Within Temptation, Nightwish, Xandria (all European groups)...closest American group in that style would be Evanescence.
  2. And today got scratched - did something to my back. I'd be able to sit in the canoe and cast - but getting the canoe out of the garage and hooked to the truck is beyond me this morning. Maybe next week if the weather is good. (sighs)
  3. Kind of the reverse actually. I've been using spinning reels since 1968, finally adding one BC in the mid-80s and that's where I stayed for thirty years. In the last three years, however, I've gone to five of each and switch off almost seamlessly based on what I want to toss.
  4. I'm with Glaucus - my 705CB is crank/jerk primarily, with poppers and light, plastic swimbaits secondly. I use a MH/F which is stouter for chatter/buzzbaits.
  5. This is the main thing I make sure of - trailer matching the jig color as close as possible. Several options I use Straight retrieve - mainly only when I'm pulling it through cover Varied retrieve - make it 'bounce' in the water column Bottom bounce - hop it along Bottom drag - ya, like a T-Rig
  6. I'm with Tom. Worms get a straight-shank off-set hook, 2/0 or 4/0 depending on the diameter of the worm. EWG hooks are for when I T-Rig larger baits like Berkley Pit Boss, Missile D'stroyer or SK Rage Bug.
  7. Wish me luck tomorrow, guys. Suppose to be a good day for the canoe and I've got my lures picked out for the first casts on each rig. Maybe I'll break the skunk-streak I've had going so far this year.
  8. Got them in on Monday, installed them yesterday. Here's how it looks...
  9. No-no-no...Wi-FI or Bluetooth link man.
  10. My guess was submerged points - ones where there's no obvious indication above the waterline that a point exists...hence the contour map example.
  11. I dunno - in my head it's 'Di-ah-wah'.
  12. Strike King Tour Grade in 1/4 and 3/8 in three colors depending on light, water clarity, etc Black/Blue, Natural (Bluegill, Green Pumpkin, etc) and Shad Berkley: Chigger Craw and Pit Boss RI: Skinny Dipper and Little Dipper Zoom: Ultra Vibe Speed Chunk Alongside cover, over cover and rarely into the cover. Season open to end of year. There really is no bad time to fish a swim jig.
  13. I have an Aird M/F spinning that I use for jerkbaits and weightless wacky...does a good job with both Of my six remaining rods - one will probably be replaced by an Aird as well - three I'll keep as is and two I'll upgrade to something else as the power/action/length I want for those isn't available in the Aird lineup.
  14. Still a point - just 'hidden' in a way. Such as this one that's in the bay I normally fish on my lake. Notice that the underwater point is not associated with a similar 'projection' of the shoreline.
  15. I think you'll like it - I use my MH/F Aird for spinners/chatters/buzz, and jigs. Even though I don't palm my reel or have a finger on the line during retrieve, I can feel the blades wobble through the rod. Really sensitive and a great bargain. My Aird 701HFB is my only Heavy - flip/pitch, frogs, larger topwaters (WP-130, Super Spook) all get tossed on it.
  16. Now you know why I have 4 Aird-X in my arsenal - they're much better than the price would indicate.
  17. 10 gauge wire is actually smaller than 8 gauge - larger the number, smaller the diameter (speaker wire is usually 18 gauge for reference). Depending on how much current you're running and the distance between the battery and the motor - the larger the diameter of wire the better. I'd find a plug with 8 gauge wire instead of that one.
  18. It comes with a skull-cap that links the motor to your brain. You just have to think 'Go There' and the motor does the rest.
  19. I know exactly how narrow those things are - I was the caller when I attended Worcester Academy back in the early 70s.
  20. I dunno about TN - but in MN, long as the chase boat has PFDs in the boat, they're legal. Don't have to be wearing them. "Subd. 4.Rowing team members; personal flotation devices. Notwithstanding subdivision 1, a member of a rowing team that is sanctioned by an academic or nonprofit entity is not required to wear or possess, and no local ordinance or rule may require a member of a rowing team to wear or possess, a personal flotation device in a racing shell if a chase boat carrying the devices prescribed under subdivision 1 accompanies the racing shell." https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/86B.501
  21. I've gotten most of my line from Amazon - mono, hybrid, braid. The couple spools I didn't get there were purchased from FishUSA - one because Amazon didn't have what I wanted in stock and the price was close, the other because Amazon wanted more.
  22. I do have a replacement for the Avocet combo in my wishlist - Mitchell 308Pro and Diawa Procyon L/F
  23. Ya, this is what I do. I have two spinning rigs set up for finesse - Pres-25 on Fury 702, Avocet RZ-2000 on ML/F Avocet. Two BC rigs set up for general use - Supreme on Aird-X MH/F, Pres-XT on Laguna MH/F Two crankbait rigs - that can be used for other things as well - Fuego on Fury 705CB and Trion-35 on Okuma Stratus VI MH/M As you can tell, I'm on a budget, so do the best I can with limited resources.
  24. I may be solo in the canoe, wearing my PFD vest all the time - but I have a throwable behind my seat...just in cases.
  25. I think you'll be very happy with that - my frog rig has a Fuego on it and I couldn't be more pleased with the performance/price point.
