Any hidden online gems can you recommend?
Ya - I won't buy anything 'used' from Amazon. I have gotten all five of my BCs, three of my five Spinning Reels and six of my ten rods through Amazon - the rods were drop-shipped from others. Everything has arrived in perfect condition.

Ya - 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback. My younger sister named it 'Barry'. 225 Slant-6 - family put almost 200k on it before replacing it.

Who still uses nothing but mono?
Surface is smoother, seems to be a bit more supple, and is easier to tie - at least in my experience.
-
Who still uses nothing but mono?
I find that KVD removes most of the problems with the Stren - it didn't do near as good with any FC I tried.

Who still uses nothing but mono?
Jerkbaits, shallow crankbaits, donkey-rig...any light, surface or shallow running lure.

Who still uses nothing but mono?
Yep - as backing on my BCs...that's all I use it for. Two of my four mono-spools rigs are with 10# Stren Original.

Where do you think I got my first rod/reel, tackle-box and lures? Me and dad, circa 1967.

Who still uses nothing but mono?
I used nothing but mono from the 60s when I started fishing until the late 80s. Added Spiderwire to the mix but was never fully happy with it. Tried FC - including a couple of the most suggested here brands...didn't like it. Now I run 2 rigs braid, 4 rigs mono and 4 rigs YZH.

Digital scale with a fish gripper calibration
Yes - I took a look at the instructions - https://www.rapala.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-rapala-Library/default/v1584543800202/downloads/rapala/RMDS25_50MiniDigitalScaleInstructions.pdf - and you can 'Tare' the weight with just a press of the button.

$64,000 Question ~
When will the next time the weather and the wife's respite worker will co-ordinate their schedules? (This weeks trip looks like it'll be canceled - scheduling conflict.)

Who still uses nothing but mono?
On the Medium-Heavy rig, I'm running 40# with a leader of 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid. The Heavy rig will get 50# (I got 50# Power Pro on it now) with the same leader as the MH.
-
Who still uses nothing but mono?
Skip the Power Pro and go straight to Sufix 832 - I've already 'upgraded' one of my two braid rigs to 832 and as soon as I have a little more free cash, the second will be switched over as well.

Any hidden online gems can you recommend?
FishUSA - they have a bigger selection of Rapalas than TW, the prices are good, and the shipping is fast. I've gotten about 3/4 of my crank and jerkbaits from them as well as other items.

Lightweight rod and reel recommendations
I'll second the Supreme. I have a pair of Presidents and a pair of Trions right now and my wish-list has Supremes to replace the Trions. Even the lower end Pfluegers have been very good to me. I've been a Pflueger fan since the 70s and still have my 'ancient' Pflueger 640 - which I could put on a rod and use today if I wanted.

$64,000 Question ~
I'll do that one better. How do I get the fishing boats to slow down so they don't almost swamp my canoe every time one passes by?

Spinning tackle in Bass fishing
I have ten rigs and half of them are spinning. The BCs run to heavier things - pitch/flip, larger topwaters, etc. - but there is some overlap. I have two crankbait rigs, one is a BC on a MH/M rod, the other a 3000 size spinning reel that's also on a MH/M rod. It's really more of a preference as I could get a heavy spinning rig to do the pitch/flip work, but I'm pants when it comes to tossing finesse-weight lures on a BC...so if I had to go one or the other, it'd be all spinning.
