  1. Well, I haven't had any of those issues...so will continue to tie direct with no swivel until something does happen. And this is with 90s - supposedly the worst of the lot.
  2. Got one of those with a Fuego CT-H (6.3:1) on it with 12# YZH. This is my crankbait rig - and the only single-technique rig I have...rest of my rigs are multi-purpose.
  3. I started with spinning when I was 7 - over 50 years ago. Even now, I'm more accurate with a spinner than a BC - which is why I skip with spinning or anytime I need to drop a lighter lure in an exact spot.
  4. That's why I have 50# original Power Pro on my pitch/flip rig...tossing into heavy cabbage. I also throw frogs on that one...on top of the mess so when they dive with it, again saw through the weeds. My jig-rig has 40# 832 on it...for the sensitivity as @RoLo indicated.
  5. Not necessary - my old WP rig was 20# Power Pro tied direct...still had no issues with line-twist. It's all in how you work the lure.
  6. Ya - my point is that so many people harp on 'fairy wands' as being under-performing. My point is that spinning gear can do pretty much everything casting gear can. Given that some of us grew up on spinning gear, we're much more comfortable with it. Currently, have 10 rigs - half are spinners.
  7. I could do that with spinning gear for around $150 Pflueger Supreme-40 14# Drag (yes, it's a metal body reel) - Diawa Aird-X MH/F Or for $260 total change the Aird-X for a Sierra 704SF or 705SF Yes, I know you can do finesse with BCs, but some of us are old enough that trying to learn that would take away from fishing time. So, I could easily go to all Spinning if I had to choose, but I couldn't go to all BC without a lot of time in practice.
  8. I've never had line-twist issues with WPs on my BC rig.
  9. Well, you didn't say spinning or casting - so here you go. Ardito travel rod - 5+1 pieces - the extra piece changes it from a spinning into a casting rod - $140 MH/F - 1/4oz to 1oz lures - 8#-17# line https://www.fishusa.com/Daiwa-Ardito-TR-Spinning-Casting-Combo-Travel-Rod
  10. Tackle Direct has 1 in stock now https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-aird-x-braiding-x-spinning-rods.html
  11. For me - if the hook is in a spot where survival of the fish is 50/50 or less...into the cooler it goes and I'll have a nice meal.
  12. For light baits like that - the 6'6" or 7'0" Medium-Light. I have the 6'6" Medium and it just seems a little 'heavy' to use for finesse or light jigs.
  13. Well, considering my buying is limited to around Yule - hope the sale holds for a while if they do. Tight budget, get a gift-check from the parents for Yule - that's when my buying happens.
  14. I've got the 7' L/F on my list.
  15. Nope - depending on the model...China or Korea. Tags on both my Furys say 'Made in China'
  16. Me too-me too...you can split them between Blue and myself. I have one WP-110 - but I rarely put it on. If I'm fishing Ploppers, it's mostly my 90s with 40#832 and 12# YZH leader. Ya, I keep the tip up, but not extremely so.
  17. Good to know about the Procyon - my wishlist has a replacement for my Avocet combo...Mitchell 308-Pro on a Procyon L/F
  18. I put the fuse for my Hook2 after the run from the battery. My connection runs Battery Power Switch Fuse Hook The other thing is my battery is in a MinnKota Power Center box - and the run to the Hook is through the accessory port - so a 5amp circuit breaker for the port itself, and the plug has a 5amp fuse as well...so triple protected.
  19. I've got the 6'6" Aird-X M/F spinning - use that for wacky, jerkbaits, poppers. If I hadn't been able to get a Fury 702SF for $87 after discounts, I would have gone with the Aird-X ML
  20. I have spinning rigs from UL to MH and I use them about as much as I do my M to H BC rigs. I guess I'm an equal opportunity rig-user.
  21. Little over that - Dobyn's Colt 7'0" ML/F (CL702SF)- $80 retail Under that - Diawa Aird-X 6'6" ML/F (AIRX661MLFS) or 7'0" ML/F (AIRX701MLFS) - $55 retail
  22. Far as the lure - most Medium power rods are rated to 3/4oz lures - so the 1/2oz RES is well within the capabilities. For fish - I've caught up to 10# Northerns on a Medium rod - long as you don't high-stick or do something else silly, that should be more than enough for any bass you catch up there.
  23. Dobyns Sierra 702SF with a Pflueger Supreme
  24. Oh - that means the Fuego CT I got as a Yule gift last year could be included.
