  1. I haven't bottom-bounced jigs yet...so dunno. Besides, the bottoms here are mostly soft. I do feel hits on the swim-jigs though.
  2. I just have an old dowel with a screw in the end. Lock that into the chuck of my Ryobi, strip the line, then a razor-knife to cut it off.
  3. I'm probably one of the ones who recommended it. I got a 3600 size last year and it was my main bag - this coming year it's my plastics bag...and it's stuffed. Darn good bag, and affordable too.
  4. I AM retired - but personal life causes me to have a restricted schedule for fishing...which is why I have a canoe rig instead of a full boat. Can't see paying $100 a month (or more) on a loan when I can only get out maybe once a week for 4-5 hours each trip for 5 months of the year.
  5. I don't pay attention...mainly because I can't schedule my trips around the bloody table - I go when I can. If the table says it's a crappy day...oh well, it's the day I can get out so
  6. Not all the new ones. The new CA-80 is an aluminum frame edition in the Cx-80 lineup CC-80 - Carbon Frame CR-80 - Resin Frame CG-80 - Graphite Frame
  7. I'm a two-manufacturer fisher - Pflueger and Diawa for Baitcasters, Pflueger and Mitchell for Spinners. Agreed - I have one 'plastic' frame baitcaster and I'll probably upgrade it to an aluminum frame reel next year. If you want a 5 speed reel - Amazon has the aluminum framed Pflueger Supreme 5.4 for $79 https://www.amazon.com/Pflueger-Supreme-Baitcasting-Reel-SUP54LPX/dp/B07C9MKWZL/ref=sr_1_26?dchild=1&keywords=pflueger+supreme&qid=1578442465&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-26
  8. I don't know about the SV, but yes...the Fuego CT and Tatula CT are basically the same reel. Only differences are that the Tatula has the T-Wing system vs a standard aperture. The Tatula also has two more bearings...but as they're in the handle knobs, they don't do anything for the internals.
  9. Colder water is more dense - down to 39O - after that it gets less dense. Also, the cold will cause hard-plastic lures to shrink slightly...making them a bit more dense as well. Personally, I think it's a wash.
  10. I have the 7' MH/F Aird-X - use it for spinners/chatters/buzz/T-Rigs/Jigs. Caught my best of last year (profile pic) on that rod. With the chatters, I can feel the blade vibration even though I don't palm my reel and finger my line during retrieve. I'm very happy with it and if I don't upgrade to something like a Dobyns Fury, I'll be using this rod for quite a while.
  11. KVD Line and Lure Conditioner is what I use on anything non-Braid. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Kevin_VanDams_Line__Lure_Conditioner/descpage-VDLL.html
  12. In place of FC, I use YZH...much more manageable and gives me most of the benefits of FC.
  13. No issues that I can think of. I just charge my battery up the night before every trip...if that's something you want to do, I'd consider a decent 2-bank charging system. That way you can charge them both at the same time.
  14. NOOO... do not go down the dark path....
  15. Way this winter has been, we'll see open water early April. Goals? 1: Catch more fish in general 2: Top my current PB LMB (4.7)
  16. I always have a Ned and a DS tied on - 3rd spinner changes. I pick based on 'gut' feeling.
  17. 1: What test line did you get? I won't spool anything over 10# on my spinners. 2: Are you using a line treatment on it? I use KVD L&L on all my non-braid lines...really helps cut down the tangles.
  18. And I gotta be on the road this afternoon Today Mostly cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 37. Windy, with a west northwest wind 20 to 25 mph increasing to 25 to 30 mph. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph.
  19. 2001 Silverado Extended Cab. I've removed the rear seat to give myself more interior cargo room. My old Avocet ML rig has a 2-piece rod. So I'm gonna store that in the back of the cab with my 'panfish' box - a 3600 with hooks, split-shots, bobbers and Mepps spinners. Short shoreline trips for sunnies or crappies will now be a snap.
  20. @A-Jay- you're up... He's a regular traveler to Baccarac - probably has info on all three.
  21. My question would be - if it is 'Pandora'...is it the Jeweler or the internet radio station (owned by Sirius XM)
  22. I actually got the Wise unit. It has tabs at the bottom of the 'pin' that keep it from bouncing out. Takes that 'jerk' I mentioned to remove it. I don't use a pedestal, just the base and seat mount as it's used in my canoe. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SDH606U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This is the matching base https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SDH60FQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I don't know if the Attwood locks in place, but if it doesn't, check the Wise line. This pedestal has the 'lock tabs' at the bottom end like my 'shorty' one https://www.amazon.com/Wise-8WD2000-3-King-Pedestal-11-Inch/dp/B00SDH60C4/ref=sr_1_120?crid=V5H59K4H1OLW&dchild=1&keywords=wise+pedestal+base&qid=1578189458&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=wise+pe%2Csporting%2C294&sr=1-120 You'd use the same base and seat mount. Canoe shot showing the mounted seat
  23. ^ Listen to the 'master'. This is what I do with my Fuego (2 now). No need to dismantle the bearings themselves.
  24. More room for gear, with a simple outrigger assembly it's much more stable, can be further customized for a mean fishing machine. This is my canoe as it sits currently - I'm doing some more mods to it this winter to make it more second-person friendly. Regular fishing seat - can add a second up front, outrigger stabilizers, rod rack.
  25. For two-person fishing, I think a canoe might be a better bet...depending on how old your son is.
