The Month Long KBF State Challenge(s) for MN looks interesting. It's nice that they allow canoes and electric motors - the other Kayak group that's operating a tourney in MN restricts it to Kayaks ONLY and manual propulsion. Unfortunately, the fee to join the group to be eligible combined with the fee for the challenge itself puts it out of my reach for this year...maybe next year.

Throw cushion for emergencies is wedged between a milk crate...where I keep the anchor when not in use, and my net...and the wall of the canoe. Main tackle bag does not fit beneath the seat, so it's going next to the battery under the mid-ship work table. Couple little things to do, but nothing that'd stop me from going out on the lake.

I buy a rod based on two things: Is it the power and action I want and is it in my budget. The grip material is immaterial to me...both do the job. Right now I have 4 EVA and 1 Cork, and it really doesn't matter.

Trailer assembled - all that's left now is wiring it and a couple piddly things...like mounting my gimbaled cup holder for my coffee.

Couple neighbors...including the guy who uses my backyard to store his boat in the summer...did the same. Never an issue with the local lake patrol.

I knew Cooks Bay was clear, but I hadn't passed by the others today...yesterday there was still some black, honeycomb ice on the others but I knew it wouldn't be long before that was gone.

I go for strength primarily, diameter is a secondary concern. For tossing into heavy weeds (pitch/flip/frog/punch) I want line that's strong enough to rip through the weeds, so I'm going 50# there. For general tossing of cranks/jerks/spinners/chatters/buzz and weighted T-Rigs I go 20#. For my budget-minded wallet - Power Pro Spectra has been fine. Hasn't let me down yet, so I keep using it.

Besides the TM and battery? Maybe 15lbs...which brings it to 100. Add the TM and battery and probably about 150-160 total. Since it's trailered - almost finished putting that together - it's not an issue.

I'm on a limited budget...the Maxx was outside my spending limit. Also - looking over the specs and given how much time I actually spend on the water each trip - my 75AH Deep Cycle will be enough to power the C2 for a trip.

My truck and canoe colors match 'the season'. Truck was bought just over 3 years ago (see it a bit up this thread) using insurance money from the previous truck (other driver was found at fault) and Christmas money from the parents. Last two Christmas', I've used my gift money for the canoe and trailer. Truck is maroon (Chevy calls it 'Carmine Red') and the canoe is forest green. Red and Green...Christmas colors.

In his price range is also the President XT and the Supreme - both come in 25 size...which is what I use for UL...the 20 is just a bit too small for me.

Oh it'll get here...and stay for about 2 weeks before disappearing again. On a side note - the canoe should be ready for water by the weekend...yes, I'm that close to being done with the winter project.

Final coat of paint on the tongue piece is drying - got the trolling motor mounted, adjusted and connected. Also got the screw eyes in the rod-rack and the leashes installed...if I didn't have to wait for the trailer to be finished, I could go out today.

Rod-rack is complete...painting on trailer-tongue continues. No - the seat will NOT bump the rod in the first position - I was very careful with my measurements and alignments.

Ah yes, the original Plano's...I put all those down in the workshop for storing hardware, spare drill bits and extra taps. I've gone totally Pro-Latch for my tackle. Much better quality than the old clear-latch boxes.

If you have access to behind where the shifter mounts, a quick fix would be to cut a HDPE sheet to size to fit behind the fiberglass, then screw into that with slightly longer screws. I've never had issues with the Plano boxes. Are you storing plastic worms in them outside of bags? A lot of modern plastics - especially Z-Man - don't play well with any brand of boxes.
