  1. Do a Google search on MN Defense attorneys...they all state that exposing yourself in public - unless at a designated Nudist spot or a breastfeeding mother - is indecent exposure. And the law is very specific
  2. Here's where it gets fun...if they had decided to charge him and he was found guilty. Up to 90 days in jail and/or $1000 fine. Unless someone under 16 saw him...then it's up to a year in jail and/or $3000 fine as that's a Gross Misdemeanor. And if he's caught a second time and someone under 16 saw him....Felony - up to 5 years in prison and/or $10,000 fine...and registered as a 'Sex Offender'. Really want to chance that just to be able to pee over the side of your boat?
  3. I've never had an issue with the Palomar Knot with either mono or FC. Again, wet the knot and slowly tighten...this should be a given no matter what knot you're tying.
  4. Not that I'm aware of...years ago BASS had a couple of the old Top 100 Tourneys on 'Tonka, but that's all I remember
  5. I do it to let a sinking bait fall in a straight line. If you close the bail right after the bait hits the water without pulling extra line out, it'll sink in a curve like it's on a pendulum.
  6. I'm still of the opinion that even small things CAN help. Everything starts small to begin...than can grow. Waving off someone peeing into a large lake encourages that behavior in ANY lake. Which is why I wouldn't even pee into Lake Superior. To dismiss the idea that peeing in a lake - even a huge one - isn't all that bad just keeps the s-ball rolling downhill, gathering speed and mass.
  7. If you have any type of viral or bacterial infection - even if you don't have symptoms of such - those will also be eliminated through urine. Not adding those to a lake...even unintentionally...is the reason I don't 'do my business' over the side of the boat. Add to that, any chemical you're exposed to gets into the urine...so while it IS fairly 'sterile', it can have a lot of things that aren't good for the water in it. Every little bit helps, and I do what I can. It might not be much in the grand scheme of things, but I am a bit of a 'tree-hugger' in some respects.
  8. Maybe so - but every little bit helps. I like to think I'm NOT contributing to the lake's pollution problem when I cart my 'waste' away with me.
  9. Minnesota has no specific law against urinating in the lake...but if done in view of other people, it can be charged as 'Indecent Exposure' at the Misdemeanor level.
  10. I know we went over this a little while back. There are devices for sale that allow a woman to pee like a man. So an empty bottle can work for them as well.
  11. They keep upping the forecast. Originally it was just a trace...now they're saying 1"-3". Anyone bet that it's more than that?
  12. I use either VMC or Gamakatsu depending on the price. If you have any Rapala lures...you're already using VMC hooks as Rapala owns VMC.
  13. I use a 25 size reel for my UL...just showing options.
  14. I posted these earlier - Ultegra isn't the only choice, J. Pflueger President XT 30 - 31" per turn. Abu Garcia Elite Max 20 - 31.3" per turn. Couple more I found Pflueger Supreme 30 - 31.8" per turn Pflueger Supreme XT 30 - 31.8" per turn Mitchell Mag Pro 3000 - 33" per turn Abu Rexo-X 20 - 33" per turn Abu Revo-S 20 - 33" per turn and more So quite a few even faster than the Ultegra.
  15. Could be a combination of things. Water temp is probably the biggest. As for other states...I don't know what their stocking programs are like. Do they stock bass there? I know that in MN, walleye, rainbow and muskie account for the lions share of stocking; bluegill and largemouth are stocked in a small number of lakes. Those lakes with a good breeding population, however...like Minnetonka...are skipped. I think they want to keep the bass stocking low and work for a 'natural' population as much as possible. The three species they do extensive stocking with are massively targeted and the stocking is to keep the populations up.
  16. I'd be for it...but the DNR is very much about making sure there's a relatively uninterrupted spawn to insure continued presence. So they set those dates up for that reason...it was only after a thorough survey after fishers complained that they opened the C&R season.
  17. Creamy - don't like picking pieces of nuts out from between my teeth.
  18. Worse here in MN. Bass opens for C&R only on May 11 (Mother's Day weekend). Finally get to keep them starting May 25 (Memorial Day weekend). It is a BIT of an improvement...years ago you couldn't even target them until Memorial Day weekend.
  19. Carrot Stiks have only been around a dozen years or so. My 25+ year old Berkley Enforcer has EVA grips...or something VERY much like it.
  20. Aglias and Comets are the main ones I use...got burned on another brand - blade kept pausing on retrieve. For inline spinner-baits, it's Mepps or nothing for me.
  21. I'm using a President 25 on a 6'6" rod myself...I'm so use to my old Pflueger 640 (which I retired and replaced with the President) that I have no problems getting an inline spinner to turn. For the line - he could go that route or lay a backing on the spool...few turns of electrical tape maybe to give it a non-slip base.
  22. He was looking for something faster than the Sahara 1000. The President 20 is much slower at only 20.2 IPT and if the Summit compares to the other '25' spinning reels, it's not much faster at around 22 IPT. Need to hit the 30 or 35s from Pflueger to get faster than the 27 IPT of the Sahara.
  23. Question: What pound test braid are you using? Ever consider Mono? I'd never use braid for a UL rig, it's too thin for the pound test I set up on my UL rig...digs in to itself. The 1000R retrieves at 27" per turn of the handle, that's fairly fast for smaller-spool spinning reels. Reels in the same price range as the Sahara with faster retrieves. Mitchell 308 Pro - 30.5" per turn. Pflueger President XT 30 - 31" per turn. Abu Garcia Elite Max 20 - 31.3" per turn. I'm a Pfluger/Mitchell/Abu fan from way back.
  24. I agree with the Fuego CTs, but I'd get a better rod for both...Diawa Aird-X's aren't much more expensive but I think would be an improvement over the Berkleys. For the spinning rigs, I'd step it up. Mitchell 300 series Pros are great reels and there are a couple combos that I think would work great Mitchell 310 Pro Combo 7' L rod - $90 (direct from Mitchell) Mitchell 308 Pro Combo 6'6" M rod - $90 (direct from Mitchell) That'll cover almost everything. The L and M spinning setups have overlap on lure/line weight and would allow even lighter presentations than the ML rig.
  25. I spread the peanut butter on one slice, the jelly on the other slice, then put them together. Polanar All-Fruit seedless blackberry...nothing else compares.
