Swimbait/Frog line choice
I would at least go 30# braid if you're tossing into even sparse lily-pads. Since the line's weight is negligible compared to the rest of the setup - better to be safe than sorry.

Hate PWC's? Well, this might change your mind.
Except there are places on Minnetonka that a boat can't get through - they have to go around. The Airboat CAN go through those spots and 'intercept' the speeding boat on the other side. There's also binoculars and radios to contact the Sheriff's patrol. Reason for the 40mph speed limit - Minnetonka is designated a 'recreational lake. Sailboats from 10' Sunfish to Ketches (twin masts), waterskiers and tubers, kayakers and canoeists, paddleboarders. Speed limit set in place to 'protect' those people.

Except the speed limit on Lake Minnetonka is 40 MPH during the day, 20 MPH at night. You go faster than that and they take your Reg # and send you a 'speeding ticket' through the mail. Sheriff's dept also patrols the lake in some high-powered speed-boats.

DNR on Lake Minnetonka have a air-boat they use. I think it's fast enough.

New Tackle Bag
Huh - the side pockets on my Large fit 3500's easily. I just thought that with the upsize to the Magnum, they'd make the side pockets 3600 size. Oh well.

New Tackle Bag
I switched from boxes to bag this fall. The Cabelas Advanced Angler Tackle Bag is larger than many others. My 'Large' size holds 6-3600 boxes in the main compartment and the front-zip pocket will hold another. The 'Magnum' is rated to 8-3700 boxes in the main compartment and 4 external pockets can each hold what looks to be a 3600 size. So 12 boxes in one bag. The 'Super Magnum' holds 12-3700 boxes in the main compartment and has 5-3600 size pockets. The Magnums are out of stock at Cabelas and BPS at the moment, but the Super Magnum is in stock at BPS on clearance for $20 off the regular price. That includes 12-3750 boxes.

The first step to healing is admitting you have a problem.

The Road To The Super Bowl 2019
They're just doing what comes naturally to them. I may not follow football much, and I may have left New England 40+ years ago - but I still root for the Pats.

Confused on Regulations
Here, as long as 1 square inch of skin showing the markings to identify the species is on, that's all you need. Invite the DNR officer to partake?

Ugly Stick and Lews American Hero
I haven't noticed the heaviness in either of my 2 - 5' UL/XF for my ultralight rig and 6' M/F for my lighter crankbaits/spinners/whatever. Of course two of my other rods are old (20+ years) so I had nothing to compare the weight with. But I just hand-weighed my 6'M/F Ugly Stick compared to my 6'6 ML/F Avocet rod and the Avocet was noticeably lighter. I'll check again when my 7' H/F Aird-X arrives.

Things to do while ice is on the lake
Ya, cause it's Scotch - needs to be a good Irish Whiskey.

Drop shot knot
I may 'move' to this one. Tying drop-shots on the lake with a Palomar, sometimes I forget which way the hook is suppose to point when I start. Then I have to cut it off and try again. This one makes it almost idiot-proof.

Trolling motor dosent move the boat. Ideas?
Is it lowered enough for the blades to be totally under the water? If it's 'skimming' the surface, it won't move the boat. If there's too much weight in the aft, it might lift the bow enough to cause this.

Things to do while ice is on the lake
I've been doing that since I got my first 'good' reel - a Mitchell 320 back in the 70's. I've already stripped the line from my five - tear apart, clean, re-grease gears and oil bearings are on the table.

New from NH
Welcome - lots of info here and members more than willing to help out Checking the map - you're close to Winnipesaukee. I remember catching bass in some of the smaller bays when we'd vacation there (when I lived in MA).

Hello from South Alabama!
Hello and welcome Oh now you've done it - I think there are as many kayakers and canoeists (me for one) here as there are powerboaters. Ask the questions - there'll be people who can answer.

Things to do while ice is on the lake
Around the house stuff gets fitted in between all the work on rods/reels/lures/storage/gaining info. Fixed income. Can't move - money. Can't take a vacation - money.

Pflueger parts
Believe it or not - Amazon carries replacement parts for recent model reels. Go to http://www.pursuetheoutdoors.com/fishing/reel-schematics/?dir=Pflueger/Spinning Reels to get the part number, then search Amazon.

6’0” vs 6’6”
With a longer rod you don't need to put as much wrist power into your casts to make them go the same distance...the sweep of the rod tip acts like a lever in that aspect. Fighting the fish is much the same...more of the rod acts as a 'buffer' and results in less line snaps or hook throws. I'm looking at upgrading the rod my Ambassdeur is on to at LEAST a 6'6 if not a 6'10 - the rod I just ordered for the reel also just ordered is a 7'
