Favorite jig and trailer!?
This Jig : I bought 50 in bulk from someone on eBay for $30 dollars a few years ago. They have a recessed line tie, ribbed texture skirt and two rattles. Seller said they were Terminator brand but I’m not so sure ? Because all the terminators I’ve seen have an exposed line tie. But whatever they are, they are excellent for casting, swimming, skipping and flipping moderate cover. I pair them with Zoom Chunks or Yum Christie Craws

The latest sale thread
Thank you ...just restocked my War Eagle SpinnerBaits , bought 18 for $41.40 including tax and shipping. Heck of a deal !

cast distance
I’ve never actually measured out a cast. But the only instance when I find myself wishing I had more distance is with 14-20ft deep diving crankbaits

Is a swimbait rod worth it?
If the SwimBaits you fish are over 1.5 ounces , then consider a dedicated SwimBait Rod ; otherwise a Flipping Rod or Heavy Cover Punch Rod can serve double duty !

Favorite Jerk bait!?!
Yes those were very good Jerkbaits . Are you sure they were $18.99 each ? I thought that was the MSRP....but in any event, I remember that TD Minnow basically ushering in more higher cost jerkbaits....and man I wish I was sitting on a collection of 30 of those !

Shimano Casitas 7.2 on a Frog Rod
No usually 40lb Zilla Braid for 2 to 6lb Largies in Michigan. Occasionally I fish Florida waters where the big girls live, but only a few times a year.

Go big or go home
Check out how Chris Lane has done with this approach over the past two seasons. Chris is a top tier Pro and could probably outfish me blindfolded; but Chris is known for trying to GO BIG OR GO HOME....it rarely pans out. So in my opinion don’t worry about winning every event , focus on qualifying for the end season tournaments if that’s an aspect of the trail you fish. Also playing it Safe is or can be a winning strategy over the long haul. Good luck

Shimano Casitas 7.2 on a Frog Rod
Yes, I love the Casitas but my main line of thought is ; over the long haul will the graphite composite frame show its weaknesses when used with this type of lure ?

Favorite Jerk bait!?!
I was only mirroring the sentiment of most Bass Anglers : ) But the reality is: as consumers we have actually witnessed price inflation in the jerkbait category for over 20 years. This all began mid to late 90s with the Daiwa Corporation and the TD Minnow. Those Team Daiwa Minnows were very popular in Japan and then America. I know because I owned a bunch and they outfished the jerkbaits of the time about 2 to 1. They ran consistently, suspended properly and used quality components and arguably a more advanced transfer system then 99% of today’s jerkbaits....they cost $7.99 to $9.99 per lure, but now a lure in this same caliber costs $14.99 to $29.99. Those Daiwa jerkbaits were the catalyst which set off a chain reaction of retail inflation in this entire category. Apparently they were designed by Seiji Kato. He worked with Daiwa, Lucky Craft and also Jackal. But in all of this time he or other lure designers can’t figure out how to do with lures what Andrew Jones has done with Audio Speakers. So I think what Im saying is , it’s time for a manufacturer to give us 90% of the performance and 50% of the cost. I know this can be done, as it’s been done with countless amounts of other consumer products in various industries for years. Where are those manufacturers who are making reasonably priced jerkbaits that perform very good or close to the top line tackle ? Where are those manufacturers who aren’t actually inflating the retail cost ?

Shimano Casitas 7.2 on a Frog Rod
So totally ? no problems , Thank you.

Favorite Jerk bait!?!
I haven’t found a favorite yet; because I’m trying to find a lure that costs $4.99 but performs like its $14.99

Shimano Casitas 7.2 on a Frog Rod
Does it have enough muscle to be used for this purpose ? Thoughts and opinions?

The impact of breaking off.
Steel from hooks and leaders is made from Iron, Carbon and Manganese ....and these are naturally occurring elements . I think at some point the steel bio degrades or becomes part of the earth or sediment. The plastics and the nylons are a different story, from many documentaries I've seen, these plastics never actually bio-degrade; they disintegrate into micro-plastics and remain in our waters forever. This is why I try and recycle everything I can or reuse it in some manner or another.

What is your favourite reel in your arsenal
Probably my Abu Garcia Revo X or Shimano Casitas , but I also really like the 13 Fishing Origin C....all three of these reels fish well above their price point.

Line Snapping When Casting Lipless Cranks?
Yes, strongly heed this advice and check those guides, with a magnifying glass and a q-tip.
-
Side to side spool play with the "knock"
On the majority of major brands (Abu, Shimano, Okuma and ***) I like to set the spool tension to allow the specific weight of my lure to just barely free fall when the spool is engaged, I rarely consider side to side spool play in this equation.

I might have figured something out!
This is a perfect example of good Angler Awareness....call it a hunch combined with experience ....well done ! Also, I would recommend trying Monofilament when fishing Lipless Crankbaits, the added stretch will work to your advantage .

Would this rod work for flipping?
With an old school Flipping technique or as a Punch Rod; I think it could work.
-
I've been wrong. Turns out you can tell the difference between a $5 bottle and $50 bottle of wine.
Then what make the Fury appear more sensitive ; the Taper, Guides or reel seat ....does it have a softer upper 10% and/or are the guides Micro ?
-
Most difficult techniques?
Absolutely it's Flipping a Jig in shallow cover situations.....once boat control is factored in , it's a very difficult technique to master , and requires the patience and perseverance of a Saint. Especially on days when it's producing only 5 of the right kind of bites over a full day of fishing. That is a tough thing to do fundamentally and mentally.

I like this post and I agree more money better quality; yet it makes me wonder if the sensitivity of the fury has anything to do with its better overall balance or the taper; because I’m almost positive the grade of graphite used on an HMG is a better grade of graphite. What happens when you attach a Rubber Leg Tip on the butt end of the HMG or maybe even tape a few quarters? I’d be curious to know if it balances the rod better and makes it equal in sensitivity to the Fury.
