  1. I'll jump in on the necothread. As I regularly fish inline spinners and I have the Bait Monkey receipts from Yakima to back that up. I switch over to a single hook and that is single most important or biggest impact on catching them on inline spinners. My gear is a 7ft Fenwick HMG ML, with a Diawa 1500 BG and 8lbs Sufix 832. I have caught hundreds of fish in small rivers on that set up. I like the set up so much, I bought 2 more rods to put back and another reel. Change to a single hook and I will just about guarantee, that you stop losing fish.
  2. That gray color gives me wood, but I can't stop loving that 832 in Coastal Blue.
  3. 1/16oz , 1/8oz and 1/6oz for me, in the Rooster Tail flavors. I toss them a good bit wade fishing small rivers. The hybrids have not been able to leave the Crawfish Colored one, with the Gold spinner, alone this year. I do find they are a multi species lure. Especially the 1/16oz. I have a good time with the Warheads this year. As well as some solid bream action on the smaller sized lures. They are pricey and once you catch a few fish on them, you need to put the pliers to them a few times to keep them running/spinning. My young nephew LOVES pulling them across clean water and watching that flash of a fish hit one.
  4. Bait Monkey, recently rode me into buying about 250 bucks worth of Yo-Zuri 3DS Minnows in the 2.75 flavor and guys must not throw them much around here, because I have been WEARING them out! Now for the hooks. When 5-10lbs redfish decides its time to hit one. They pretty much collapse the treble hook like a beer can. I'm not sure why it is happening, because I can see them running through the bait, not really coming on it and smashing down on it, but they will completely collapse 2 of the 3 barbs. I started rigging up Owners on split rings and when one gets sniped and beat down by a Red. I take that as God telling me to take a break, drink some water, reapply sunscreen, check the sky and water for weather and toss on a new hook. Love the Yo-Zuris by the way, still hate that Bait Monkey.
  5. Mine are Heckler and Koch...couple of angry looking Germans.
  6. THE BREEZE is our saving grace here on the Gulf Coast. For me, it is a conscience decision to go out and stay out in it. I sweat like a stuck hog and once I'm out there, as long as I have water, I can make it happen. It is the sitting around, outside at night that gets me. Sitting in my own sweat st 9 oclock...sucky Take a look at a Camelbak. I have a slick fishing vest that has a 2L Camelbak spot and I USE it. Most bank fisherma use a backpack to carry their gear and a CamelBak will help the load of the water as well.
  7. No problem...place has a bunch of my money.
  8. I wish I could hit my local lakes at night. The MAN is closing everything down at 8PM.
  9. The USCMA, formerly NAFTA, kicks in today and it will make this situation a little worse IMO...I think it is GREAT long term, as it will bring a level of manufacturing back to the US, but it will also increase the price and lead times of products. I dont know how much it will affect the terminal tackle...rods,reels,lines and lures, but we will find out about 6 months after this Covid thing goes away.
  10. Feel..drop...reel...set the hook. With moving baits, just set the hook.
  11. 10lbs 832 Sufix. I think it has a 4lbs diameter and I think the next lower one is 8lbs and its diameter is 3lbs. I use a bunch of the 10lbs 832 in Coastal blue. You get some line fade, down to a baby blue, but it still shows up enough that you detect visual strikes.
  12. Behind black w/blue flake, that color is my #2 producer. I throw it in everything from chocolate milk to drinking water.
  13. Straight braid for me, on everything.
  14. Right here...they are cheap and easy to do. Put a fresh pair in and have some peace of mind on that front.
  15. 3/0 or 4/0 Gammy EWG. I do toss a 1/0 Gammy EWG every now and again, as well.
  16. I bought a Triumph a few weeks ago, knowing it is their low end line. It is 6'8" ML/F and the tip is pretty flimsy. I even started a thread about it. Many have said you have to get into their higher end rods to get away from the "buggy whip" like tips.
  17. I have had the opportunity to sit with one of the sons of the J. Hildebrandt Lure company. He talked fondly of how is father would hand tune lures and said that no two lures are the same, but some slight adjustments, especially on spinnerbaits and in line spinners made a huge difference. I asked him if he remembered what specifically his father was looking for in those adjustments and his answer was "A very heavy thump" from the blades. Not so much how the lure looked, but rather how it sounded. I dont know if that helps, but it makes a whole bunch of sense to me.
  18. Numbers Just one time, I would like to have a numbers day of 3+ and say, 30 fish.
  19. ScumFrog has one that is entirely chartreuse. I can vouch for the ones I have had over the years, bruising plenty of faces.
  20. I have worked in heavy industry for the past decade and you are not getting out and about with out AT LEAST safety glasses on. I have been wearing sunglasses from sun up, to sun down, since I was about 20. I have blue eyes and the sun will get to me after a few hours. I usually drop 100 bucks on a pair of Costas every couple years and wear them until all 5he rubber ear and nose pieces start to lose the ghost and send them into Costa and they give me credit towards something newer. It works for me.
  21. Yeah, I'm fine with paying to play with OG Senkos. I'm also fine with that Senko only catching one fish, before losing the ghost. I'm not going after anything that has been in a fishes mouth, unless I see a shiny new Rolex in there.
  22. Pretty cool. How old is he?
  23. You said you were dropping out the same amount of line each time and unfortunately, you are creating a wear pattern on probably a 5-10ft section of your line, maybe even smaller than that. Even if you had perfect eyes and there were no nicks anywhere. You are creating a wear pattern in the same spot. Think of it as bending a wire clothes hanger. Eventually physics happens, with ugly results. I dont have answer to stop it, aside from maybe marking that area with a Sharpie and trying to alleviate that wear area.
  24. That is WILD. I would fish them, they now have the most unique action of any lures you have...making lemonade, out of lemons.
