  1. Magpul has some pretty good glasses on sale right now. I have used them for shooting sports events and can recommend them as being tough and stylish.
  2. Keitechs are hard to beat. Of course their longevity comes into the mix, but you have to pay, to play sometimes.
  3. I have seen spotted basS come from 30 feet away in small, clear rivers. It reminds me of watching coyotes coming into a call, from a half mile away. The nerves just keep building up until, THUMP!
  4. 7 bucks all day. I try to buy them by the case and get the discount on them down to 6 bucks.
  5. I have thrown Senkos and Yum in the same size and color. The Senkos just flat out, out fished the Yum, by almost 4 to 1 on moderately pressured water. I will just keep stockpiling Senkos and at some point, I will start hedging against the price of inflation or when the archeological dig happens at my home. Those scientists will wonder why this particular human had cases of plastic sticks, not fit for human consumption.
  6. ...and on the 8th day, God created 5" Senkos.
  7. I max out at 4 on the YAK and when I am bank fishing, just one rod.
  8. It is this type of thing that leads me to believe that the poats about "line visibility" and "lure colors" just don't matter that much. That is like trying to naw the filet off the cow, while the cow is still alive.
  9. Senko Killer Kraw ScumFrog
  10. I apologize...Kentucky or spotteed bass. Why the hell I said hybrid, I DONT KNOW.
  11. So, I just opened up a ML/F Triumph and the thing is a buggy whip, when compared to the HMG ML/F rods that I have and I'm talking about a factor of 2-3. I get that you have different blanks, finishes...etc, but I was hoping to throw 1/16oz shaky heads with Bizz Bait Killer Kraws and the tip is bending a couple of inches and I just dont see it happening. From reading BR I thought the St Croix rods were pretty stiff. My main purpose for this rod was going after river spotted/kentuckys while wading. I bought direct from SC with a gift card...130.00 I'm willing to upgrade, but what do I up grade too? I'm thinking another 50-75 bucks...river rod.
  12. difference between the line diameter of most braids between 10-15lbs is minimal. With that said, I roll with 10lbs and 15lbs 832. 10lbs on a ML/F and the 15lbs on the M/F. Again. The line diameters are d**n near the same, but the 10lbs set up, will toss 1/16oz lures and 15lbs test is just enough to mess with distance.
  13. 1st one of the day, always puts a smile on my face. Especially if I can reuse that Senko.
  14. 2/0-4/0 EWG hooks are about all I use for 5"SENKO's...3.75" Killer Kraws and 3.8 Keitechs. With 3/0 seemingly being the one used the most. DitchPanda, I feel like I have better hook up ratios with the EWG's. I would be interested in hearing why you choose the classic or round bends, over the EWG.
  15. I dont approach people, but sometimes back in the marsh, there may be several guys in a small cut that is big enough for two boats. That can be interesting, especially since I am usually in my YAK.
  16. A couple of Fenwick HMG's from the Amazon folks. I would have preferred a tube, but they were well packed in a box.
  17. Spent a good bit of time in the BWCA of Minny...way up 5here towards the Pigeon River...Seagull Lake...etc Been living in the DEEP SOUTH for 15 years now and got back into bass fishing about 3 years ago. The only big difference is that you can get away with bigger or maybe heavier gear in the south. Doesn't mean you will catch more fish, but throwing frogs and punching through mats of vegetables is not done well with Medium action spinning rods. I fished a Killer Craw(bizzbait) on a 1/8oz swivel head last weekend. This was out the back of the boat in a buddies club tournament. 7ft ML/F HMG Spinning rod and 1500 BG spooled with 10lbs 832 Coastal Camo and there some marsh bass with busted lips and crossed eyes. My buddy curses every time I bring a spinning stick on his boat, but it just catches fish.
  18. I throw the 3.8 a good bit. I would have to look at the name of the color. It some bright ass blue with black flake.
  19. Great lures for a bunch of species of fish.
  20. Sunday night to be exact.
  21. yI'm really surprised you are catching them with roe in them. We had a warm winter and a warm spring. Almost all of my local fish here in the Greater NOLA area, spawned almost a month ago.
  22. His name was Jimmy and I dug him out of the vegatable garden. His color? Very, very, life like.
  23. T-Rigs...I just cant quit them.
  24. Grease under heavy pressure is called oil. That is how oil is released from the wax in the grease, pressure, which in turn creates heat, causing the suspended oil in the wax to release and lubricate. Too much oil or grease is counter productive and usually iniates premature wear in gears, bearings and seals. Personally, I wouldn't put any type of thixotropic lubrication, near or on anything I own. The only thing I own that is thixotropic in my house, that I can think of right off the bat, is the Heinz Ketchup in my fridge.
  25. I broke an Omen rod last year that I was using as a light action set up. I got a RoosterTail stuck in a tree and gave it a quick jerk, like I had done countless times before and the top 6inches exploded like a Black Cat firecracker was lit inside of it. I am always nervous when I set the hook on my Fenwick HMG travel rods. I have caught exactly 103 fish on it, according to the fishing records I keep.
