  1. JC Lewis! Has a nice ring to it, welcome to the forum!
  2. They really wanted the black/blue rage menace swam shallow in the canal today, got on a good pattern, but had a lot of short strikes. Here’s my best of the day.
  3. Update: Ned rigged rage menace, I’d say they like it...
  4. @rtwvumtneer6 glad to hear it! Stick some West Virginia hogs for us and post some juicy photos
  5. Pin me the location, I've casted 10,000 times like they told me and still haven't caught one of those suckers!

  8. Welcome Robert, haha the progression is unreal!
  9. welcome! glad you've decided to get back into fishing...no kidding every search result leads you here. I joined for the same reason.
  10. you seem enthusiastic enough to me!
  11. @Brad in Texas thanks for the advice. I’ll have to run by northern tool & company and see if they have cam straps. Kind of unfortunate I bought a rack and realized I’d rather just secure it straight to my roof. I guess the rack will be nice once I get a yack for my girl so we can carry two at once! I’d assume you got your use out of em!
  12. Spooled and slimed her up the other day for approval my do it all 7’ mh/f g loomis imx paired with a shimano chronarch ci4+ I’ll post the rest of the arsenal when I get a chance! Cool to finally post in this thread I’ve spent hours combing through each page admiring everyone’s gear!
  13. @Choporoz@PECo those Thule straps look a lot more durable than my Yakima. The reason they broke is when I tightened them down I was going against the rubber with the strap and it dug through the rubber. Total user error and I don’t blame Yakima, but to have only used them 4 times and to have them break is a bummer.
  14. I throw topwaters of that size on a 7’ mh/f comfortably
  15. Smallest circle hook you can find and a piece of corn ought to do it. They are super shy so be stealthy!
  16. I fish mine wacky style ?
  17. Was able to get an hours worth of fishing in a few days ago, this guy was a fun little catch! Nice way to break in the new set up ? While I’m at it I’ll throw in another one I caught on my first outing of the season. Chunky little guy came off a fallen limb up shallow.
  18. Welcome brotha! I’m a filthy tackle junkie myself, no shame, there are worse vices to have!
  19. What a hoss. Dude has that state record holder look down. As for Virginia, the state record largemouth is 16.4, back in ‘85 on Connor Lake. Doesn’t look like a 16 the way he’s holding it, gotta love the modesty!
  20. Yeah that’s how I felt about the straps that’s came with mine...even more so after I broke one of them. If it wasn’t for the front and back hook straps I got I wouldn’t have been able to get it back home! I’m gonna go get some ratchet straps, glad to hear they work nicely. @Brad in Texas ah, interesting brad. Do you think that it was since you had it on a trailer, or do you think having it on my roof would be different? Cam straps look like a good alternative, I wonder if my local hardware store carries those.
  21. Hey yakers, I bought a Yakima j low rack to secure my boat to my vehicle (Subaru forester). I found that I like to secure the kayak directly to my roof racks excluding the j rack altogether. I was using the Yakima straps to do so and I broke one using it improperly. Was wondering what y’all use to strap your boats down. I was thinking I may get some ratchets and see how those work. They are certainly more heavy duty than the Yakima straps (which have a rubber head). Any input would be nice, thanks in advance!
  22. Absolutely! Fish what is comfortable for you and the situations you find yourself in. Just wanted to let you know why I enjoy the mh/f so much. I for sure know what you mean about enjoying that fight better with some of the smaller fish. That’s where my fly rod or my little ultra light come in!
  23. I’m with everyone on the mh/f. Truly does it all besides 2oz plus baits. It is worth it to get a higher end one with my experience. Some of the cheaper ones don’t do the lighter tackle as well. With my g loomis imx mh/fast I’m able to feel a dink peck at a Ned rig. It certainly has backbone, but with a fast tip the backbone is only there for when you need it. I’d say it’s versatility is in the fact that it has that stoutness all while retaining maximum sensitivity. I find a mh/f really shines with medium sized jigs, worms, and t-rigs. It isn’t going to be the perfect rod for everything, but it does MOST things pretty well considering.
