Winter Locations - Same as Hot Summer Spots?
For the most part, yes. That deep post spawn water, especially when the water dips below 50.

Has anyone noticed the fishing crowds?
Lets all thank good ole Boyd for working hard to Grow The Sport! I think the fish saw so much pressure last year that they are noticeably more difficult to catch in 2021.

Truth
Ah, a TVA fisherman weighs in! Similar situations on different bodies of water but largely the same result. See my later post about the fish in the Clinch River. Wind is naturally generated current with the same result. Good point sir!

Truth
Years ago on the Clinch River in East TN, I used to fish beneath the dam for trout. We always fished when the generators were off and the river was quiet. We always caught dinks. Then we got a canoe and we started fishing when the generators were on and the river was flowing. We witnessed the most amazing thing- we started seeing, and catching big fish- 5, 6 lb trout- and it was amazing. Why the change? Because when those generators came on, the river came to life. Thats what wind does on a lake. The bait gets blown around, the water gets stirred up and the big predators know thats when to hunt. Hope this helps a few folks catch a few more fish.

Saw an article on Lawson Hibdon today who spoke the solid truth. Took me a while to learn this one: "Wind more than anything else makes a bass dumber than a rock." Yes sir.

My first forum here so take it easy on me lol
Cant force feed em man- we have all tried and failed. GaryH is right. The lake you fish lends itself to light line finesse fishing and so you are faced with the opportunity to learn new techniques or continue to donate your entry money. I never would have thought, but catching fish on new techniques has become a very rewarding aspect of fishing for me in past years. There is ZERO shame in catching 50 fish in an afternoon of fishing on a spinning rod!

Meh Toad Hookup Ratio
I had the same bite going on here in TN a few weeks ago. The yak definitely plays against us on this one as you will pull yourself towards the fish when you stick em. As for rods, MH action rod only when there is no H action available-and only on straight braid for toads for me please! This might get you up slightly higher on the hookup ratio but the fish are going to miss it sometimes coming up through the cheese. Most entertaining bite of the year!

Loop Knot Or Small Snaps For Top Water ?
The loop knot will wear as it abrades across the line tie. I have a 9.5, a 9 and an 8 lbr on VMC crankbait snaps and have never had one open up. Very under rated snaps.

Heavier Buzzbaits ?
A 1/2oz WarEagle buzzbait with a toad weighs an ounce and will come up quick. On braid I can bomb it a mile, cover a huge amount of water.

How many "Average Joe" bass anglers do you think are out there who could dominate the pros?
says a lot of stuff that could be used to fertilize a garden. I cant quit laughing at this! Self knowledge is a beautiful thing!

Looking for article re: wind and fall fishing
Wind effects fish similarly in all seasons. It pushes plankton, the baitfish follow it, and the bass follow the bait. Additionally, wind masks the presence of your boat, trolling motor, etc. Wind stirs the water which makes it tougher for fish to get a great look at a bait which is good for us fishermen! In short, wind is your friend in almost every fishing situation.

Guide repair help
I have spoken with the techs at Mudhole Tackle and they will often know what kind of guides are used on higher end rods. Lots of great rod repair vids on their site.
