  1. Its no better here in Middle Tennessee. Time to hit the streams and get gone!
  2. None of the kayaks you have listed are great stand-up boats. I have been in the Old Town Topwater which was a pretty good kayak for standing. But the king, sir, is the Jackson Bite. $899 for a boat I could do a handstand in, 67 lbs, made in TN. Winner.
  3. Good man Bird. I like snakes much more than mice!
  4. Surprised it took so long.
  5. Any of you gents ever catch bass on the Lake X baits topwaters?
  6. These folks could probably help you with a guide on Chick... daytonboatdock@yahoo.com http://fishdayton.com/
  7. I own two IRods and they are very nice sticks. They fish like Dobyns in that they are more fast than moderate action. I like bendy rods for treble hook baits and so I find myself reaching for my Okuma Guide Select more. Its heavy but the bend is right.
  8. I am with you Junkman. FG for heavy line, Alberto for light line.
  9. Abu Vendetta 7'6" heavy with a Daiwa fuego. 50lb power pro. That combo will pull a car through 50 yards of milfoil mats.
  10. Most often used with the straight shank hook and, specifically braid.
  11. For a topwater I think chrome in the sun in stained to clear water. Clear-ish bodied baits in clear water in the sun. My TW bite here in TN has been slooow and I am ready for a breakthrough beatdown!
  12. Martin, despite our deal with throwing big baits, my best bite-getter for post spawn is a size 8 XRap jerkbait. We are talking 20 fish beatdowns on it. Good luck buddy.
  13. For those who watch Bass Live or MLFs feed, you ever notice how the guys seem to catch them in spurts, and sometimes not at all? I think weather and active periods both influence fish behavior.
  14. We had similar scumbaggery here in Nashville. The Wildlife Resources guys said next time to contact them so they can catch and prosecute the tournament cheaters. Keeping game fish in a cooler or cage is a no-no as well. Turn them in AJay!
  15. Have you gotten any idea what it will cost to repair or replace it?
  16. Fishing from a $250 kayak beats the heck out of bank fishing. I fished for 3 years from one before deciding I liked the kayak bassin enough to shell out for an expensive boat. Now that old boat is my creek rig and I can not imagine not having both. Hope you get one-and a good pfd!
  17. There are 2 different conditions for froggin, target fishing and mat fishing. The target fishing rod is 7' with a soft tip and you should be able to drop a frog into a dixie cup with it. The mat rod is a 7'6" pool cue and with it you can drag a 7lbr across 50 feet of milfoil. Which conditions do you fish? Hope this helps.
  18. I am going for it. Going to try to watch/read all of them! First one I watched I learned something. Thanks Bossman.
  19. Ideally for jerkbaiting we are all after a 7mph south wind and mostly clear conditions. Agree? So what do yall do when its cloudy? How about when the wind slows? Swap to a different color, go to a silent bait? Thanks!
  20. J-Rod, I really like the sound of that combo. Please update us when you get to put it to the test a few times. Thanks man.
  21. Specifically on a spinning rod, I run my leader long enough to where it just does not enter the reel. The knot going through the guides has not seemed to bother anything. Why not go straight fluoro? Braid is just so much more manageable, fewer wind/twist knots.
  22. Anywhere around the area has its advantages but the best lake in the state for big largemouths is Chickamauga and Watts Bar rates a close second. If you prefer smallmouth and river fishing, the waters east of Knoxville is where to look. Can not go wrong in East TN, just a fantastic part of the country for fishing. The only drawback is lots of boats on any of the the big lakes.
  23. Do you throw the 110 on lighter spinning gear?
