Smackdown in 10LB
I've been toying with the idea to move on from my high vis yellow sx1 15lb braid to stealth gray SmackDown in 10lb. This would be for a finesse setup and it's would go on a tatula LT 4000 on a nrx 85s. My thought process behind the 10lb was that I could may go to straight braid on some applications. My question is has anybody used SmackDown in 10lb ? I just put several spools of 30lb on my casting reels and am shocked at how thin it is. Does anyone have any pros/cons to from SmackDown to sx1 either ?

Reel Snot or other lubricants
Does anybody worry about using Reelsnot on your high end baitcasters? I just want to make sure i'm not risking anything before I start spraying a liquid on my $400-$600 reels.

Will this be a decent jerkbait rod?
Thank you Do you think I'd get longer distance casts with the 40-60lb smackdown over the 30? Why did you suggest not using less than 30?

New Chronarch MGL Drag slips
I purchased a new Shimano Chronarch MGL from ebay. After taking it out for the first time I realized that the drag is slipping even with the start wheel winched all the way down. By slipping i mean it just a little tug on the line and the spool will pull out. I feel like I'm doing something wrong but I don't have the issue with my new metanium. Any advice would be helpful.

Used 2004 Triton TR-20X, Need advice
https://www.boats.com/power-boats/2004-triton-tr-20-x-6778922/?refSource=standard listing&fbclid=IwAR0sLoX4_WCBAsleMTLke4dqGLrNuyyS4upWFiY5MA3enA6LavDM8uqRNo8 I've been looking to get into a large fiberglass boat due to traveling to Florida and Canada. My outboard jet river boat just isn't cutting in especially with more than two people in the boat. My question is this. This boat is for sale at my local Bass pro shops. It was traded in on a new boat. After speaking with the boat manager of the bass pro he assured me that the boat runs well and the motor just had a good compression test. It does however have 504 hours on it. Is that a giant red flag? Next up, it's on a new tandem axle trailer ? I guess it's good that it is new but obviously something happened to the original trailer. The last and most important part is that somebody had wiring issues with the accessories at some point. Most of them work but some do not. I'd plan on rewiring the accessories which I can do and would be a decent winter project. This boat with no wiring issues would sell for around 20K from what I can tell. I can probably get it around 13.5K. What are your thoughts? Carpet is also pretty worn.

Help me pick a casting reel
I have not had any of them in my hands. Here in central PA we do not have a shop that stocks anything over $199 MSP. I do not have any experience with any other reels other than the lew lfs ($99) I've been wanting to try high end casting gear just like I wanted to try high end spinning tackle. That's when I got into an NRX & a Dobyns Champion XP for spinning with the new tatula spinning reels. It completely changed how fun fishing is. I have decent higher end casting rods but nothing more that 6.4.1 ratio Lews lfs that are going on four years old. I'm very much interested in the higher end reels. I think they will last longer and be worth the investment. I almost just want to buy a Metanium XG and start there. I like that you can get the higher end reels for a large discount through ebay or Japanlureshop.

Help me pick a casting reel
I haven't too much. Their top end reels seems heavy and IPT is pretty slow. I've also read that they are some of the best made reels in the business.

Help me pick a casting reel
I'm looking for a high end casting reel that can cover a bunch of bases. Primarily though this reel wheel be on a 7'6 MH throwing 5 & 6 inch weightless senkos. In the lake that I'd be using it most I get bit on the fall. If they don't bite getting it back and throwing it again is important. Thus, speed to me is important. I subscribe to the I can always slow down theory. I've had my heart set for awhile on the ultra light weight Aldebaran but have started to pull back on that due to drag capabilities. I also was considering garbing the Abu Garciz MGLExtreme2 instead of the alderbean due to it being similar in weight, drag & being able to be had for much less. It's also about 4-5 IPT faster. I know it's MSRP is $500 but I've found them as low as $240. I just recently came across the LEW Hypermag SLP in 8.3.1. To me it seems to be the best of both worlds. It's 5.4 ounces, so close to the Abu MGL & Shimano but with more speed at 33 IPT and 20LBS of Drag. My current reels are Lew lfs's which I've thrown for 3 years without any maintenance and they throw just like new. I can also purchase the Lews Hypermag for $197 down from $299. Also lets throw in the new 10.1 Revo rocket in there for comparison. I know it's heavy but the line retrieve intrigues me. Lews Hypermag 8.3.1, 33 IPT, 5.4 Ounces, 20lbs of drag. $197 Abu Garcia MGL Extreme, 2 8.1, 33 IPT, 4.5 Ounces, 11LBS of drag or more like 7lbs, $260 Abu Garcia Revo Rocket, 10.1 - 41 IPT, 7.3 Ounces, 18LBs of drag- $189 Might slip on hook-sets? Shimano Aldebaran MGL, 7.4.1 - 29 IPT, 4.8 ounces, 10lbs of drag -$285 Might slip on hook-sets ? Shimano Chronarch 8.1. 34IPT, 6.7 ounces, 10lbs of drag -$221 Any other ideas?

Dobyns DX 742SF vs 702SF vs G. Loomis GLX, Tubes, Ned, Dropshot, River Smallies
Have you every handled the newer version of the GLX 852 spinning? I'm just wondering if it's worth the price difference from the NRX.

Dobyns DX 742SF vs 702SF vs G. Loomis GLX, Tubes, Ned, Dropshot, River Smallies
You're killing me! I knew someone would said the 742 was really nice. It sounds like that extra four inches help the deflection which made the rod so fun to fish with. I had the 702SF down to $272 in stock but I hate to spend that and have regrets. I just realized that if i go with the 742 which it seems like I'd really love i'd have to pay the full retail of $349. I could get the G. Loomis GLX 852sJRW for about $300 down from $420

Dobyns DX 742SF vs 702SF vs G. Loomis GLX, Tubes, Ned, Dropshot, River Smallies
I've been looking at purchasing a semi high end do it all on the small soft plastics side spinning rod. I use casting gear mostly but I'm learning that my clear water Susquehanna river fishing in the summer needs me to slow down and really work on presentation. I plan on using 12lb SX1 to 6-8 floro leader. I'm looking for a rod that will still throw light neds, tubes and allow be to play with drop shoting but not be my primary focus. The problem is I have been unable to find that model in stock from the retailers I can get a good discount from and it's back ordered on tacklewharehouse. I did come across a DX702SF for $272 which normally goes for $339. I was wondering if anybody has experience between the two and has opinions on the 702SF for the applications I'll be doing with river smallies. Another thing that just dawned on me is that if I can get the G. Loomis GLX 852S JWR actually for cheaper than the Dobyns DX742 due to the dobbins being full retail at $349. I could get the GLX down to $315 due to the savings I have from the big box stores which don't carry the 742. Does anyone have an opinion comparing the G. Loomis to the Dobyns ? I've also been looking at the St.Croix 6 10 LTB MLXF but can't seem to find that from those retailers either. Any other opinions for my application would be greatly appreciated.

Help me mount my Helix 10
I think i've decided on a single Helix 10 g2n but I need some help mounting. I do a fair amount of river fishing that doesn't include me spending a ton of time behind the console. Most of my time is at the front with the ultrex. With that said I really like the idea of the display being in front of my gauges instead of off to the side because often I'm running extremely skinny river rapids and I'd like to keep my head facing forward especially since my jet doesn't turn on a dime. My ideal situation would be to have the display right above my steering wheel and have a mount that would allow me to raise the display up and turn it around to view from the front deck. If that's not possible I'll end up with a side mount that I can also turn around. Can you guys suggest some mounting options?
