  1. Wish I had that. I saw what I assume were bedded up fish last time I was out. They were in very shallow water in an area of the lake that isn’t fished much. Looked like they all made their beds right next to downed branches that were almost completely submerged. From the air, I’d be able to confirm.
  2. Back when I had the kiddie pool in my backyard, all summer long, about 20 to 50 worms would drown themselves in the pool, every single night.
  3. Just start with 15lb braid. You’ll thank yourself when you get used to it. If you fish clear water, add a 3 to 6’ leader. That Seaguar Fluorocarbon, mentioned above, is an awesome leader at 12lbs. Breaks at a much higher test than that. I refuse to pay $37 for a 25 yard spool of the fluoro leader, because that’s how much Dicks had it for last month. The whole trick is don’t cast too hard and don’t throw less than 1/2 oz until you can cast all day on open water without any issues.
  4. When you cast like you are aiming for 500 yards, with 3/16ths and it clips a leaf on a tree 10 feet up above you, you will find out that the answer is yes. Otherwise, no.
  5. Never. I fish very light line. But will never go that light. I tried fishing 4lb test once. On a charter in Disney world. All I’m going to say is when the fish hit my live shiner, my rod immediately went limp and my line immediately went slack. It broke as they swallowed my hook, shiner and all, before I could even try to set the hook. I didn’t believe the bass could possibly be that big. That was the first and last time I went below 8lb test.
  6. It’s not the reel, it’s the guy casting it.
  7. Orange. Silver glitter. Blue glitter.
  8. Yes, there is a pond here, that is bigger than most, that allegedly contains bass that are supposedly big. I have not caught one there in about 25 years, because an accident poisoned all the fish, causing them to all die. They were restocked some time around then. It became overrun with bullheads and large carp. I think local carp fishermen introduced the carp. Which run very big for the area. I figured the bass would be living off the tiny cats and tried to match the hatch. Didn’t work. Nothing worked. I saw schools of shiners. If they are eating live, wild shiners, I’ll never catch them. I will try again soon. I also saw 2 tremendous arrowanas in there last spring, over 2 feet long. Sitting on the surface along the shrubbery line. I doubt they lasted over winter, but it was still crazy to see. It’s also the only place around here that is full of clams, which I read are a terrible invasive species. No idea how they got there.
  9. Email from phone to iPad works best, choose a small file size. Otherwise, Photoshop Mix for iOS. It’s free and easily reduces file size.
  10. If nothings biting, I’ll throw any color.
  11. Rod shopping is always a good experience. Even when you leave the store like “nope I ain’t gettin nothin in there.”
  12. Yes, I’m a brand ***** to some degree. I don’t like to buy very expensive things because they are expensive. But I don’t like brands that aren’t somewhat designer in nature.
  13. Hard to say. Try both see what works better. But if you don’t know, get both and cast them into clear water to see what they do. Move them around, let them sink, vary the speed. See what they do. Then fish them.
  14. Looks similar to the Berkeley power worm. Not garlic flavor, though.
  15. Well according to the internets there are catfish and there are bullheads. I swear. I googled it. https://goneoutdoors.com/difference-between-bullheads-catfish-8583849.html
  16. Got out for an hour and a half this evening. Yesterday was quantity. Today was more quality. Tried a much smaller pond that holds fewer, but bigger fish. Finessed one eyed willie out of a hole under a lay down. She’s definitely a senior citizen. I am assuming from the looks of her, this is post spawn. I will have to admit, when I got her into the shallow water, she jumped like 5 times.
  17. I should go to this place to see for myself. I know what a channel cat looks like, so I’ll be able to identify if I catch one.
  18. Good point, that brings me to Channel Cat, which makes more sense to me. But the pectorals look short to me, which would be black bullhead. Plus, the head doesn’t look like a channel. What is it?
  19. I saw this picture, posted from New Jersey. Says this is a black bullhead. I can’t tell from the pictures. If it’s a brown bullhead, it would beat the state record of 4lbs. I know I never caught any kind of bullhead anywhere near this size. Looks close to the black bullhead world record of 8lbs 2oz to me. The guy also says there are bigger ones in this pond.
  20. If I catch a fish with clothes on, I’m hanging it up and picking a new hobby.
  21. Looks like a 2500 reel and poison adrena heavy in the pic.
  22. After work today. I recommend the hat. The fish were drawn to it. These mask fish selfies look bad. Maybe I’ll just do the fish by the lips from now on. These are stockers, probably this year and last year. Lake was recently recreated after being destroyed by hurricane sandy. I broke with tradition and fished straight braid. The water was stained and I was practically flippin cover, not quite, but I broke off a lot of brush to get to them.
  23. I’d be looking at service. Pop it open and make sure everything is seated properly. Does not sound like the AR is the problem. When it’s the AR, the handle will backspin on the hook set on a 8 ounce fish. Had it happen to me with $15-20 reels from AliExpress.
  24. I agree. I have used it, but there are so many other dependable knots out there. I don’t like the way baits with a heavier weighted head tend to swing or pendulum on the knot. I think it wears on the line and makes it break easier at the knot. Because it never grips the eye like other knots do. It is most noticeable with fluoro. I also think that the knot might appear strong in pull tests and machine tests, but it fails when a very hard fast shock is applied.
  25. This would be extra heavy for me. Not to criticize, but you’re using this for bass? Are you in Texas or Florida? Looks more like a red fish or southeastern inshore setup to me. This looks like finesse for species over 25lbs. Yes.
