  1. Pictures are hard to tell from. I say 11-15lbs
  2. Get a rope and a large weighted treble hook and start removing some of the vegetation.
  3. I like Boca orange seals, especially throwing 3/16 or less. The Lightning’s are good, too, but noticeably slower. Which a lot of people might prefer. I prefer shielded bearings. I think it’s because I cast so hard that the oil is gone after a few casts unless there are shields. If price is a concern, I’d go Hawgtech. They are great bearings. SmoothDrag also has some really good bearings at different price points.
  4. I never had any luck with spinners.
  5. Bream is so much more elegant than bluegill or sunny. I’d rather eat bream than sunnies and bluegills.
  6. I don’t know. Because it’s never easy if you aren’t getting any bites in the first place. My take on color, that is most consistent, is sometimes you need a light color belly no matter what color you are fishing. I don’t know if it’s contrast or most food has a lighter colored belly. But somehow it can make the difference even in water I would think the fish are blind in.
  7. That happened to me once a few years ago. Without explanation: I have no idea how, but a little overhand knot was in my line that kept catching on the hole in my levelwind. After tearing it down, I was about to throw the reel away, but something said everything is right. Strip all the line off. That was that. Problem solved. This also happens when there is cotton like pollen or seeds on the water surface or slime in the water that gets on the line and is reeled back into the spool. The ball catches on the levelwind. If it’s not that, no idea.
  8. No. Definitely no boat. It’s either a boat or make my kids go into debt for college. My wife draws the line right around that point.
  9. Yes, good times. They’re gone around here. When they were in the mall around here, I loved the Reese’s peanut butter cup sundae. my grandmother (r.i.p.) and aunt used to take us there. I don’t understand why they don’t make a friendly’s ice cream shop, along the lines of coldstone? Ice cream and shakes only.
  10. It is extremely rare for a 24 hour period to pass where I ate no ice cream. Some of my favorites: Friendlys S’mores (only available in the summer) Hagen Dazs Black Walnut, bourbon vanilla truffle, Irish cream brownie, caramel cone. Ben and Jerry’s Netflix & Chilled, Brownie Batter, Americone Dream, Fudge Brownie, Cinnamon Buns, Gimmie S’more (but friendlys is better), Pfish food, Urban Bourbon. McDonalds Hot Fudge Sundae. But they no longer have nuts! McDonalds Shamrock Oreo McFlurry. Coldstone - Either Cake batter or White Chocolate ice cream with a brownie, fudge and peanut butter. In general, a hot fudge sundae with peanut butter. Since I am watching my diet right now, I only have a Costco box of Drumsticks. I get one a day. They have much fewer calories than anything that requires a spoon.
  11. I think a lot of that has to do with the main mod in charge...
  12. I don’t have a boat. All my bass are from the bank in ponds that you wouldn’t need a motor in. There is no boatable fresh water anywhere near here, except the bay, which is basically the ocean. No way I would ever get an ocean going vessel. An ocean going vessel would be required for anything I’m looking to fish for. The prime fishing grounds are about 2 - 3 hours away, each way, by boat. You could buy a house on a lake with a boat and truck for the cost of running an ocean going boat around here, over the course of 5 or 6 years. To go out, at most 10-15 times a year, because it requires a whole day, it’s just not worth it. That’s why almost every single boat in the area is for sale now. Plus, I have never done better fishing on a privately owned boat than I do from the shore. I actually did worse. Because you need a serious machine to go out on the Atlantic. Or you are going backwards against the tide at WOT. If, someday, when I’m retired, or a little older, when the kids are grown, and I could get my wife to move somewhere that a bass boat would be something I can actually use, yes I will definitely get one. With electronics. My wife has no problem with that. It’s the not living in a big city that is the problem.
  13. I still do that on extremely slow rods all the time. It becomes a skill.
  14. supposedly fish tuberculosis. I intentionally rig certain soft plastics to look like this. In certain conditions it works wonders.
  15. I usually show up around 9:00-10:00am. I haven’t had any better luck fishing earlier than that. Maybe I did, but I’m not getting out of bed before 8 on the weekend.
  16. These help. I spent the past two seasons too caught up in new techniques and gear. And that was with very little fishing time. So every day on the water was something I wasn’t used to. Didn’t work that well. Went back to moving baits and stop and go fishing, back in the fish. Thanks!
  17. Cue the X-Files music......
  18. Definitely a warmouth.

I’m willing to get flamed over this. I always hated the pork legs in water bottle things. Berkeley massively improved and upgraded that idea.
  20. They can be anywhere from that size up to several miles around. Before google maps, I knew they were there just from fishing the current and watching the water. Here’s an example from an extremely well known spot that everyone knows of from google maps. If you can find a good 20’ subtle swirl, chances are it draws some of the big LMB.
  21. Since the only two things everyone ever throws around here are spinnerbaits and wacky rigs, they don’t really work.
  22. I don’t usually fish cuts or coves. Maybe flats. One point that is important to not overlook are the swirl points. Where for whatever reason, there is circular water movement. Fish are drawn to the swirls.
