Only fish main lake and secondary points that show fish on fish finder?
Since I never use electronics, I look for the the ambush point. Not just a point. The place where the current or an obstacle will bring an unsuspecting baitfish right in front of a fish that is sitting there waiting there to eat it.

Catching the random bass with defects.
I caught one with a destroyed eye last week. I think that comes from scraping the bottom when caught in shallow water. Because the shallow water fish often have bad fresh scrapes on them, compared to deeper water fish.

Zoom, done?
The bigger question is will the big companies start eliminating their big city offices? If that happens, the cities are doomed, but there’ll be less crowded fishing for me...

Zoom, done?
Unfortunately, no. I wish fishing was not a shrinking sport around here. It would make it much easier to buy rods. Gas prices, new boat prices and dock fees killed the sport. Plus, the fish are way fished out, from all the years of no catch limits.

Finesse C-Rig Rod Choice
Im not going to tell you which rod to get, but you’ll have a lot more options, since casting am distance is probably not a factor. i use a finesse style C-Rig with 1/16 to 3/16 - keeps the offering 6-12” off the bottom with plastics that have flappy parts. It works sometimes.

Non traditional philly cheese steak
a long time ago there was an old guy around here that had a converted ice cream truck that made ribeye cheesesteaks kind of like that. They were the bomb.

Non traditional philly cheese steak
What is that? Sliced steak? Looks better than thin sliced steak-um style meat.

Finesse C-Rig Rod Choice
I would say for C-Rigs, especially, it really depends on whether you are on a boat or the bank. C-Rigs are not very cooperative with bank casting.

Left alone or harassed
I hate people that leave junk behind. How hard is it to put the ball of line in your pocket or the empty plastics pack back in your box to throw out later. Seriously, though, it’s not the people out fishing that’s the problem. It’s the people on the Internet. what gets me mad is the picture below -- this is a memory on my Facebook page today, form 5 years ago, during the striped bass contests. This was in the local news here. Those are illegal gill nets dropped by the fraud wannabes around here trying to cheat in the contests or just so they can post a picture with a big fish online. A whale was caught in these nets, which was rescued, when they collected all the nets, they were full of endangered atlantic sturgeons and baby makos and great whites. Disgusting.

For the Bank fisherman: What "pushes" your buttons while fishing?
All I’m going to say is this week I caught a 4 pounder a few feet from where a kid was skipping rocks and another 3.5 pounder right next to where another kid was throwing rocks and people were walking by with a loud radio. So dont believe they hype.

Any Luck In Upstate Ny?
Fishing is hot in downstate new york, right now. As good as ever. The fish are Spawing and Post Spawning around where I am. I would say its 50/50 between spawning and post spawing.

Is it possible to cast too Hard?
Just throw every cast like this. Eventually, it will go far.

Left alone or harassed
Seriously, I fish a lot of very well known heavily fished places. For the most part, the people are nice and just looking to catch a few fish. There are always idiots out there, but most people arent a problem. I just hate the cast a rod out into the water and sit there and wait for a bite fishing. Its not what I do, so if I'm out there casting all over the place, working my line around, to everyone else there, its me that is the problem. They dont see themselves as blocking all of the water with their rods just sitting there. I'm sure that's where the term "deadstick" came from.

Zoom, done?
Might just be saltwater because all the fish have been fished out, but you’ll hear little reports from time to time about how fishing is becoming a smaller and smaller sport every year. But I see the articles that say fishing is more popular because of covid. Not where I am. It’s probably the first thing people would cut.
-
Zoom, done?
IDK, all I know is that fishing has been going out of style for the last 50 years. It is extremely difficult for these companies to operate now a days with a customer base that’s shrinking every year.

How can you tell when the bass are done spawning and are transitioning to post spawn?
I don’t know. I caught post spawns in the same lake I see most fish spawning now. @WRB says they stagger it and they obviously do. I caught the post spawn female in one place I fished today, she was eating. I caught the female first. I believe the males were protecting eggs that were beyond what I could see by their behavior. They were also viciously chasing blue gills that went past a certain point. And they were all holding their own little territory. They were chasing my baits away, but were obviously not feeding. This made it almost impossible to get them to take a little nip so I could get a treble hook into them. But after much perseverance, I got them, eventually.

Cell phone question, can't get a straight answer
I buy an unlocked phone from Apple. I have a prepaid unlimited everything account for $43.06 a month, auto billed to my credit card. Anything else and you are paying an extra $1,000 - $2,000 for nothing but the brand name of the carrier. I have the same number I ever had, no problem. No way I’m paying $90 a month for the same service. Just buy the phone outright, instead of basically financing it for $45 per month on top of the already inflated price of the phone.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Hit the second shift with my son, we went over the river and through the woods, but hit a few snags and got hung up. I managed a few more dinkasaurs. Yes, I changed, I could not risk contaminating everything with the poison ivy from the spot I fished earlier today. I’m usually almost immune, but after my second Covid shot, I actually got it on my hands arms and around the tops of my socks. @Nelson Wormefeller I’m logging my catches in Fishbrain as the historical collect pond in downtown Manhattan, that’s just a fancy way of saying the sewer....

Is my scale right?
The scale could be wrong. Get a new one. It doesn’t matter, that’s still a nice fish.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Biggest went 5 to 5.25 at 20” and 15.5 or 16 in girth . Flipped and split the paper ruler into three pieces as I tried to take the picture. Biggest fish taken from 18” of water. The Megabass Jerkbait Special hit the water for the first time. Love the rod. Hooked up on everything I’d usually miss. If you look closely at the tape measure pic, you can see these fish have eyes that can face completely forward. You can also see all the poison ivy in the last pic. Inside New York City limits. 90 degrees out. Is it just me or do these fish have smaller mouths than LMB everywhere else?

Casting harder over time? Some rods feeling overloaded or nearly so.
Fiddle with everything. Including the bearings.

Would you use 1 pound test??
On 17lb test my PB fish which was about that size, was nearly dead as we got it into the boat, and it died i the first 2 minutes. It was at that time I learned that if the fish is going to be eaten, the number one thing everyone wants to know is “was it still alive when you got it to the surface.” Because they say the meat gets tougher if they die before coming out of the water. I was mad, because it was what had to be an endangered species, since it was the only sail I’ve ever seen that looked anything like that, and there wasn’t any way to release it. I could not possibly have ever landed it without the boat. At times the big penn international I was using was smoking as we chased it full speed in reverse. I’m not really a fan of that type of fishing. There’s no difference between any fish, from species to species, that’s 100lbs + all you do is sit there like you are hooked onto the bumper of a car when the fish runs. Just not my thing. Edit: since I’ve been Called out before over pics. I have never in my life seen another picture of this variety. The captain told me that these fish are extremely rare, and only lived in that area. He said he kept the tail it was the biggest of any ever taken on his boat. I was not happy about killing it at all. I am NOT a trophy hunter and I hate people who want to kill rare and endangered species. This was literally glowing cobalt blue, not from the reflection of the sun. There were a ton of people from France and Germany there lining up to pay for pieces of it. The money would have been mine to split with the captain. I left. I didn’t want any of it.

I would stick to buying stuff that isn’t a name brand on Ali Express. Maybe the Rays Studio stuff is real, but anything else? Good luck. - Risks of Buying a Reel on AliExpress.com...???
