How big is this bass

I say it is over 10 pounds.  My friend says it is around 9 pounds.  I caught the bass a year ago.  I didn't have a scale or tape, but used a piece of string to measure the length.  The string measured 25 3/4  inches.  Unfortunately the man that helped take the pictures insisted on keeping the fish and taking it home with him.  He is the manager for commercial fishing on the lake, and didn't want to offend him by letting it go to eat more tilapia.

Nice catch. I would say that bass is over 9 pounds maybe 10 pounds in weight. Next time weigh the bass on a good scale or at least measure both the length and girth to get a weight estimate.

I see it being a legit ten pounder. Not much more, but not much less either. Looks to be very close either way IMHO.

Using my LMB formula Length x Length x Girth div 1200, with girth unknown use 75% for average girth 80%* for for above average girth this bass weighs 11.3 lbs*.

*the looks above average.

Stout ~I'd say bigger than 10 #... Looks like an 11+ to me.

I bought a scale and tape measure the next day.

That's a biggg fish, look at all that weight in the tail end of it. I think @WRB's estimate isn't crazy.

10+ to me. I've noticed when bass get bigger than about 8.5 they start getting that bug-eyed look. This fish has googly eyes. But if there's one thing I've learned from weighing my own fish, it's that they're always at least a half pound less than I think they'll be.

A hawg!!!

Pictures are hard to tell from. I say 11-15lbs

Might be the first post where someone is asking if a bass is 10 lbs where it actually looks like a giant and over 10 lbs. Nice fishy!

I think you can call it a DD and not get much resistance from anyone seeing the picture. Like Shimmy said the pictures support the perceived weight. Congrats on your trophy.

Most people try to call a 6 lber an 8. This is one of the few posts where this fish looks like it is an easy 10. Awesome catch!
