Can I use 45pound braid with a super line ewg heavy wire hook? Is there a limit on how big pound test you can use. I plan on fishing some heavy cover and lots of algae Mats in the water.

Can I use 12lb mono for wacky and Texas rig on a medium spinning rod or is that too much?

Had a few days of severe thunderstorm and heavy rain down here in the Midwest. Weather was nice partly cloudy and humid. Threw a baby brush hog on a Texas rig. Caught two nice LMB first one was big second one was even bigger. Love these Berkeley fusion19 EWGs.

It’s a lews custom lfs black I waited 2 weeks for it not directly from lews but tavkledirect, and don’t really feel like sending it back out, so I’d figure I’d just fix it not a big problem to me tbh. As long as the paint will hold up and won’t be effected from water and will match the original black.

So I got a new rod in the mail and everything looked great but I did notice 2 small areas on the outside of the microwave guide that the black paint is gone and the metal color is exposed. Can I use a certain black paint to cover it? Something that would work and be waterproof?

i used 120 for the deeper repair and 220 for a final sand than sealed it.

Used Elmer’s probond wood filler, turned out perfect and now it’s time to seal it.

I will be using a medium heavy rod and throwing only 3/8oz spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, fishing in shallow water 10ft the deepest. Heavy vegetation to moderate some structure, what would be the best pound test to use?

So I’ve had my Dobyns fury series rod for a little over a month and have only used it maybe 6 times and the top of the cork handle is already chipped away a bit. I expected more out of this brand. My $50 lews cork handle is still in perfect condition.

What should my drag be if I’m fishing a jig? I’m using 15lb mono.

Is it ok to use a 2 part epoxy for gluing weedguards on jigs?

Well I’ve been using the same mono last summer and never had any break off or nothing caught 3,4,5,6,7 pounders so probably nothing to be concerned about.

So for the next three days the weather is suppose to be 51,57,62 degrees with 2 days with rain. I believe the ice was 4inches thick the last time I checked. How long does it take to melt with steady 50 degree temperatures?Will the ice be melted?

I’ve been using suffix for quite some time but always notice it tends to have a bumpy feeling. The line is smooth. I buy it on 1/4pound spools 1500 or so yards worth. Maybe it’s just an imprint from the line being wrapped around on the spool?

I have a Lews Carbon Blue GT baitcaster and am getting a squeaky/rubbing sound when pulling drag. I lubricated and cleaned all the basic parts and the sound is still there. Any ideas what it could be?

I was looking at the Lews speed spool LFS

Yes I have and it fit fine on other but not on the rod, I’m just going to get a different reel. The screw should screw down more, the reel just isn’t compatible with this rod.

I had a Okuma stratus VI reel on the Dobyons. I think I’ll be getting a lews reel since my other one fits nicely on the dobyons.
