Spinning reels do not fit on my new Dobyns Fury rods...
I did the same thing suggested and the reel fits perfect. Still strange how some rods won’t accept certain reels while others will.

Jig rod
How are the St. Croix Bass X Rods I like how those look. I understand though that they run a bit heavier than the rating.

Spinning reels do not fit on my new Dobyns Fury rods...
It's terrible considering the price tag for these rods.

Spinning reels do not fit on my new Dobyns Fury rods...
I just bought a dobyns rod as well but I got a casting one, I must admit the fit is a bit weird. It looks like it should screw down further on mine but I guess this is just how it is.

Dobyns FR734C
I picked up a Dobyns FR734C heavy rod and a Okuma stratus VI Reel, and it seems to fit weird into the slot the slot near the handle of the rod. But it seems like pressure from tightening it pushes it nice and snug into the slot. Are baitcasters not universal on all types of rods or is this the way its suppose to fit? Does this look right?

Line rating
I'm talking about these reels, Not sure which one I will be getting but i want to use 15LB mono. https://www.ebay.com/itm/KastKing-Spartacus-Low-Profile-Baitcaster-Baitcasting-Fishing-Reel/292121258171?var=591078728667 https://www.ebay.com/itm/KastKing-Spartacus-Plus-Baitcasting-Reel-Freshwater-Fishing-Rubber-Cork-Handle/183230403737?hash=item2aa9621499:m:mD7WmXAvNHXUBuTTePAM8Vg https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/okuma-stratus-v-baitcasting-reel-15okuustrtsvlhbtcree/15okuustrtsvlhbtcree?

Jig rod
Would a Heavy action rod with a rating of 3/8-1oz be more universal for minimal cover and thick cover?
-
Jig rod
Is a medium heavy rod good for jig fishing with 3/8 and 1/2oz jigs?

Help reading this map
I was looking for some help with figuring out where the bass might be staging and where pre spawn would most likely be. I'm refering to the Mays lake body of water not trinity. I'm located in the Midwest in Illinois. fishing-guide-2018-mayslake-trinity-lake.pdf

Line rating
My reel is rated at 12lb can I go past this? What issues will I run into besides less length fitting on the spool.
-
Lipless crank
What kind of water depths, etc would I use a 3/4oz lipless crankbait in? Deeper water? Would I also get bigger bass on it?
-
Jig skirt length
When trimming the skirt for a jig does the amount of skirt you trim off matter or is it all just personal preference?
-
Texas rig hook size
I plan on fishing creature style baits and brush hogs. I will be using a medium action rod. What size hooks are best for these baits.
-
Jig
no grass mats, maybe some fallen logs and your typical vegetation. But if I am somewhere where there is grass mats and the water is deeper and thicker vegetation I do want to be able to fish that as well.

Jig
I use 3/8oz jigs for all my fishing needs. I fish in water that is less than 10ft. Is this a good weight or should I be using something heavier?

Lures weights
Thanks everyone I understand it all now.
-
Lures weights
Now if I want to use bullet weights I can use 1/4,3/8,1/2 and 3/4oz correct?
-
Lures weights
So I’ve been confused for the longest time on lure weights. I do know that the higher number for crankbaits Example- 3/8 is lighter than the smaller numbers 1/2 which is heavier. But when it comes to jigs I didn’t realize the smaller number is heavier. So my rod is rated at 3/4-1/4oz. With jigs do I just go backwards so the heaviest my rod can handle with a jig is a 3/4oz and the lightest it can handle is a 1/4oz jig?

Lews rod
Change all the guides your saying?
-
Lews rod
So I got a Lews carbon blue gt baitcasting rod. My old one got grooves in the stainless steel guides. Long story short lews sent me out the same rod by accident so now I have this free rod. Any ideas what I can do with besides sell it. I'm worried if I use it I'll get grooving again.

Crankbait
I have a mh 6’10 fast action rod that is rated 3/4-1/2 oz. is a 3/8oz floating crank bait too light? I’m using 12 pound mono line.
-
Fly rod
Worked like a charm, thanks!
-
Fly rod
I bought a new fly rod and one of the guides has a tiny small dab of epoxy I would assume on the guide. Will this interfere with fishing or will it eventually rub off from the fly line?
-
Fly fishing
Now with the flys how do I determine which fly is sutiable for my rod? It’s a 7/8wt I’ll be purchasing.
