Need help with Ident on this jerkbait. Buddy of mine pulled this thing out the other day and almost put a spankin on me. I asked him what bait it was and he like me, suffers from oldtimers disease! We were in susky smallmouth jerkin. I’m guessin it’s an older Yo-zuri. TIA for any ideas TIA
  7. Bird, I use this at times on rivers for smallies, works great
  8. 3/16-1/4 oz for the most parts, shallow go lighter, deeper or windy go heavier

  10. As a noob to stream smallmouth fishing, only been at it for five years. My experience in this short period is once water temps get to or above 50-52, they seem to turn on in the creek near me.
  11. Pitch a jig or crawworm as close to the trunk as possible and let it fall on slack line and watch the line, fall rate makes a difference some days. I use 3/8oz most times, 1/4oz or 3/16th if I want a slower drop. Mostly dark colors
  12. I did buy the 150, rod I picked up is a St Croix Mojo med action 7.1… had no $ left for the bait monkey…lol
  13. Thanks for input guys, finally had time to make it to tackle shop. Wow, that 150 is nice! Stayed in the shop too long and found a rod to my liking. Hope to break it in soon on some smallies.
  14. Thanks for the info, thinking I’ll go with the 150 first ??
  15. Would like some input from you guys or gals that use or have used the Curado 150 mgl vs 200k. I own two Curados that are over 20 yrs old and still working great. I am wondering if both have magnetic braking?, haven’t had an chance to check them out in person. TIA
  16. 3/8 is my go to, but on windy days or if I need more distance, I’ll go up to a 1/2oz. 3 colors, white, black, chartruese

  18. I’m learning tricks for SM from a local where I reside part of the year, near Harrisburg,PA. Jerkbaits, hard an soft, the hard is a yo-zuri 3DS 70mm Ayu in the creeks and rivers. The soft is a white fluke tail dipped chartruese and nose hooked on a 1/0-1 drop shot hook. Have only been fishing for smalls for 4 years, PB so far is 18 3/4” on the Ayu wading in 2ft of H2O.

  22. Longest I ever use is 36”, most of the time 20-24”
  23. Completely homemade with 3 pvc tubes, used the bottom 3” from another crate to make a lid/tray in the event of a turtle
  24. Another option, is fingernail polish
