  1. I have used the bearing swivels from Barlows for over 20 yrs. They spin very good at all speeds, and last. Save a buck or two and buy swivels and split rings seperately. IMO swivel and hook used are most important.
  2. I caught one just like this once, been years tho.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions guys
  4. WRB nailed it. I will add something I got from reading an article on Denny Brauer decades ago. He said that in jig fishing or worm rigs, a lot of time nothing has the lure. If it feels different from nothing....Set the hook.
  5. Looking for better skirt collars, (rubber ones) they just dont hold up very long. Is there any better choice other than wiring them on? Links or info much appreciated.
  6. Enjoy both equally
  7. I started making spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and jigs for my own use some 25 yrs ago, mainly because of availabilty and color selections. Fishing buddies, friends and co-workers saw some of my tinkering and I sold them a lot of lures over the years. I sold my boat in 06, life sometimes gets in the way of hobbies and passions. I still tinker with them from time to time. It was said before it’s satifying to catch fish on something you made. Yup I Agree! Tight Lines!
  8. Use mainly 5/0 EWG Gamas
  9. A nice 18” bass from SC PA a couple days ago.
  10. Some good advise here. I having never been in a kayak before, much less fished from one, I found a good used Heritage 12’ on facebook market place, only 25 miles from the house, with extras for $350. Needed a bigger one cause I’m no lite weight. Been fun fishing out of it. Hope to upgrade someday. Retired an lovin it.
  11. Since i was old enough to hold a pole in my hands, sometime before the 1st grade. 63 yr old teenager now
  12. Hi guys, looking forward to fishing on the lower Juniata this summer. Just got a yak last year, but not a noob to fishin, chased them green ones most of my life, looking forward to catching a few nice smallies. 63 yrs young. If anyone wants to meet up an fish, give me a shout. Don’t want to be on the river by myself. Retired, so I’m flexible. Hav a truck with a rack. Tight lines Forgot to add, I’m in Carlisle area
  13. ereplacementparts.com, hav got a few for some older reels for my grandson
  14. Don't go on the water without one tied on. I liked them so much, bought molds and started building them 20+ yrs ago. Primary colors white, white/chart, fire tiger/bream, sometimes a black/purple. It was said in an earlier reply, they are a great search bait. I probably use a 1/2oz more than any other size, but will change sizes in a heartbeat, (match the hatch) Most of the time they have at least one gold blade and it's usually a willow. Been blessed to catch two double digits, one came on a spinnerbait I made.
  15. Thanks for the info guys
  16. Thanks, may have to get me one, like the looks of it.
  17. What lure maker please?
  18. Thanks for all your ideas and suggestions. Never thought about the batteries for kiddie cars for this use or putting them in a box. I forgot to ask in original post about an arm for transducer. flexible or solid?, from pvc? DIY or homemade ideas welcome. I plug my scup holes so I need an arm of some type. Thanks again!
  19. I'm thinking about getting a small finder for finding drop offs and creek channels. I wont be running it all the time, jus to find structure and mark it with a buoy. My question is what are most of you using for a power source. I'm thinking, a small lawnmower battery will work fine, for my use. Would like any ideas or recommendations you guys or gals might have for yak power source. I'm in a 12ft Red Fish if it matters.TIA
  20. Thanks for the replies fellas, I will probably try a float or two this spring, but keep em leashed when not in use.
  21. I just got into yak fishing late last summer in south central PA. I have a question for the best option for saving rods when I get upsidedown….which is bound to happen. Only fished still waters so far and have some rod leashes which are homemade from previous owner of the yak. I'm wondering if rod floats will work as good as leashes, or combine and use both?? I don't have high end tackle, not cheap either, but would hate to loose any of it. I also don't have a high end yak, no standing at all. Thanks in advance on your input. Tight lines

  24. I'm also a fan of the Devcon 2 ton. Been building spinnerbaits an jigs for over 20 years, all I use. Have also used it on purchased hardbaits to add a little glitter. Never used a turner for the coatings, I just sit at my work station and turn them by hand every few minutes while I'm tinkerin with skirts, blades etc.
