  1. Somebody's junk...somebody's treasure It's all relative!
  2. Well, after 30 minutes on hold...Shimano doesn't sell individual boxes. I kind of knew that, but figured I'd ask anyway. Oh well, I got a great reel, no box, ain't nobody dying...all is well! I will pay a reasonable amount for a box!!! I will pay for the shipping too!!!
  3. Not quite following that.
  4. @Spankey Shimano Chronarch MGL XG
  5. I'm currently on hold at Shimano to ask if they sell boxes. It's a 10 minute wait time!!! I guess there's a bunch of bored individuals like me, who have a bunch of frivolous questions. I'm probably going to get an answer like "no sir, we don't have extra boxes and we don't sell them...sorry." ? Oh well, it's worth a try, the roads are still shut down in Houston. So it's worth a wasted 10 minutes.
  6. ? Sorry, I didn't realize it was criminal to like reel boxes! Wow! I'm laughing extremely hard right now!!! I'm blessed to have the equipment I have, not having a box doesn't discount the value or the legitimacy of the product. I just like them. No harm no foul!
  7. Because I have a spot in my office that I like to collect my boxes. Plus I feel it's good etiquette to send the original box with your reel if you ever sold it.
  8. I bought a used reel and it doesn't have the original box. Can I order one from Shimano?
  9. he just said he could slow down the gear ratio. Whatever that means.
  10. I got a Chronarch MGL XG. I have a Scorpion MGL XG as well. I'm trying to figure out how I can use both of them. It just so happens that my neighbor owns a Tackle Store and services Shimano reels. He says he can take out the gears, put new ones in and slow the Chronarch down virtually making into a 7 Speed. Has anybody heard of this? How would you use 2 XG (8.1) reels? What techniques?
  11. I knew you would bring that up.? I was in the process of converting all my rods to Shimano, I had an opportunity to cash in on a bunch of rods, but it fell through. I had sold a bunch of my older rods and discovered an app kind of like ebay bought a bunch of Dobyns rods! Very cool find.
  12. I'd be interested in your 704 Glass.
  13. quite honestly Dobyns rods are very relative and the higher you go in price the better the quality and more true to performance. A 734 Colt is not the same as a 734 Champion. Fury 735 is noticeably heavier than the Champion.

What would you change about my set up?
  15. That's why you use a 734c and if you're a Dobyns fan, you need that one too. It can pick up the slack from the 703c. In fact, if you had a 734c, a 703c and 702sf...you might cover all your bases with those. As a pond and bank angler, I don't need a deep diving crankbait. I've thrown frogs on the 734, not ideal, but it isn't all that bad either. I bet you might even be able to throw a deep diving crankbait with the 703c. Wouldn't be the smoothest method, but definitely achievable. I stand by my claim the the 703c is the utility rod and probably the most underrated in the Dobyns arsenal.
  16. Until now, I couldn't afford the or the blue for that matter. I've getting by with the Colt and Fury. I stretched it a little this time and got the Kaden. I'm a Shimano guy, so I got the Scorpion the Kaden and the Scorpion are going to look great! Liked your SLX theme with the Champion XP (kind of funny putting the lowest priced reel on a high priced rod in the Champion...the SLX flat out performs for the price). I wish Shimamo would make their spinning reels a tad more flashy.
  17. I'm a minimalist and if you got a Dobyns 703C you could throw Squarebills, traps, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, and finesse jigs on that rod. An SLX XT in 6 speed is perfect. That's the gear ratio I use and I love it!
  18. Just ordered mine!!! 715C for jigs and worms!!! It's going to look great paired with my Scorpion MGL!!!
  19. Yes, they advertised it all over the internet as a "Saltwater Reel". But hey, I just got outbid! Thank you Lord! I was at Academy yesterday and I'm in love with the Chronarch MGL. I wish they had one for a decent price!
  20. So, it looks like I'll be the owner of a used Chronarch G. I'm not too pleased with it, as I know this reel is for trout and reds. I should have read the fine print on eBay. When life gives you lemons make lemonade, is what I always say. So in the bass world, how can we use a Chronarch G HG 150? Does anybody use them for bass fishing? A little consolation or suggestions would be appreciated! ?
  21. I throw 3/8 to 1/2oz jigs with trailers and 3/8 to 1/4oz Tungsten and Trick Worms or Creature baits. I was thinking maybe 715c Kaden or 705c Champion. I currently have a 734c, but I feel the rod is too long for my style of jig and worm fishing. I would prefer the action be similar to the 734 or even a little more stiff (maybe something like a St Croix Avid X ). I find the 4 powers from Dobyns to be a little lighter than normal. Hence my inquiry about the 5 Power. I used to own a 735c and it was almost a Lite Heavy. If you were me would you buy a 705/715 Dobyns for your jig and worm rod?
  22. Croix is almost sold out of Avid X. Kind of mad at it.
  23. Speaking of St. Croix...these top secret rods coming out next month are exciting me!!! I wonder what they color they are. hmmm...
  24. Is it safe to say MHM = MHMF? I use a MHMF for Spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits, Swim Jigs, Finesse Jigs, Squarebills, and Lipless crankbaits. I haven't found a single rod company other Falcon who has MHMF, everybody else MHM. What can you tell me about this?
