Frog'n Reel Recommendations
WOW! Just how heavy of a frog do you use? 150 yard casts are totally beyond my skill set, especially frogging. I would need a 10 ft super extra heavy rod just to set the hook on a frog at 150 yards.

Frog'n Reel Recommendations
I have 2 combo's that I frog fish with. My reels are definitely different but do exactly what I want them to do. For standard frogs I fish with a Daiwa Elite Pitch/Flip. That reel is a beast and will drag them out of the slop! It's also decent at skipping. I use it in the winter as a jig combo. For smaller frogs I bought the Lew's SP (skip and pitch) Speed Spool. I absolutely love this reel! I love skipping frogs under docks and cypress trees with low hanging limbs. This reel is amazing at that. I also use it for chatterbaits. Works like a charm. It does have a shallower spool, but it would hold plenty of 30# Power Pro. I have bombed casts with it on a full spool and not emptied it. I do, however, fill it about halfway when I am doing a lot of skipping. It works better for me that way. If I had to choose just one, it would be the Lew's SP.

The Tackle Trap
I've been in their store many times. Brian is a very approachable and friendly guy. First rate service as well. Everyone has web ordering issues from time to time, especially on weekends. I can and will personally vouch for Brian's customer service.

Lithium Batteries
I understand the need for a strong set of batteries. And I have some understanding on the advantages of lithium. But, I have never seen a single 24 volt battery designed for trolling. So, I was seeking some clarification on that. I have limited room in my battery compartment and it is FULL with the 2 lead cell batteries for my Ultrex. If a single 24 volt battery could work it would save a TON of weight and some room as well in my battery compartment. Incidentally, the only one I see is 50 ah and that's not enough, which makes me wonder why they even make it. I appreciate your willingness to help.

Lithium Batteries
I was wondering because I know nothing about lithium and have never seen a 24V deep cycle battery.

Lithium Batteries
Origin states Reno, NV for Battle Born..... I'm showing my ignorance here, but is this battery truly a 24V battery and the only one I would need for my 24V 80LB thrust Ultrex?

Let's Talk Lipless Crankbaits
I enjoy this style of fishing and didn't know about this option. Thanks, A-Jay, another Benjamin up in smoke...... I'm afraid you missed the LIPPED part of his statement. Nearly ALL of my lipped cranks rise on the pause.

What would you do...sell my variety of nice reels and replace them with all the same brand/model or stick with the variety?
I love my Daiwa SV reels. That said, I saw the Lew's Pitching and Skipping reel with the shallow spool and had to have it. And I really like it. I am still learning how to maximize shallow spooled reels. How much line to put on and other things, but that is part of the fun for me. Just ordered some smaller baits to get the most out of my new kinda BFS setup as well. Can't wait to get them in to practice with them. Fishing is a total experience for me. I enjoy using my equipment. Sure, catching fish is the end goal but if that was the ONLY goal I could get a cane pole with a bobber and cricket and fill a bucket. YMMV.

How did you apply it to the fish?

Best Fishing Store You’ve been in
Amen to that! Great people in that store as well. Also, in the Monroe/West Monroe area is another great tackle store, Toledo Tackle. The Tackle Trap in Boaz Alabama is another great place to shop. I know a lot on here do business there via the internet but Brian's brick and mortar store is a great place to shop and hang out. BPS leaves me with a lackluster experience. Mainly because BPS touts their own brands so much and don't keep a lot of variety. These other locations I mentioned have those unique and often hard to get items that once you put your hand on you buy it, LOL.

What to do if haven't cranked motor in months
Good chance a mud dauber stored some food in there. The water pressure eventually forced it out. I often run a small piece of wire into the exit tube a few inches to insure there are no obstructions. Now that it is flowing freely you're probably good to go.

Trim Relay
I don't know this for sure, but I was told if the relay clicks when you press the button then it's doing the job. I bought an aftermarket lift motor, watched a video on swapping it out, and had it done in 15 minutes. No issues since. I also realized just how sluggish my OE part had become after getting a fresh motor installed.

Trim Relay
I had a similar issue with my Yamaha 90. Turns out the lift motor was going bad. And the odd thing was going up was no problem. It was the trimming down where I had the issues. YMMV

Low(er) stretch mono?
I have had good success with P-Line Topwater. It is listed as a copolymer. It floats very well and has reduced stretch. Knot strength is good (Palomar, anyway) and memory is low. I use 12lb. test.

Daiwa Tatula SV 103 vs SV 103 limited?
Look, guys, I'm perfectly happy with my Tatula's. Why you gotta start praising the Zillion to the point I start second guessing myself? I don't have the Limited and don't care to have one. But now you all got me wondering if the Zillion is that much better than the Tatula SV... thanks a million!!

Whey it helps to properly prep a motor to store it.
You ended your post too soon there, Doc. You showed us the end results but forgot to give us the recipe so we could duplicate your results, minus the bad power pack, of course.

Lure Identification (Crank Bait)
Well, you don't have a definitive answer in 14 hours from some of the best lure identifiers in the business. That means 2 very important things: First: you will ever more catch fish with this bait. I mean a lot of fish until; Second: you will most definitely lose it and never be able to duplicate it. So, enjoy it while you have it and live with no regrets once it's gone....

How long did it take you to "master" a baitcaster?
Anyone that can skip a crank bait or a spinner bait consistently with any accuracy is a freak of nature in my book. Treble hooks and blades are a nemesis to accurate skipping.

First Foray Into BFS
Well, I certainly didn't intend to spark a verbal sparring match here. It's obvious that BFS is somehow inferior to some. It's just another way to catch a fish and another reason to expand my horizons in a hobby I thoroughly enjoy, fishing. I asked for some advice. I got some advice, really good and well thought out advice. I acted on that advice and bought what was suggested. I thought I'd let everyone know how it turned out for me, as I really enjoy reading about the experiences of new gear and new techniques: really the only reason I am on this board. So, let's smooth our feathers down and dial it back a notch. I appreciate critical thinking and freedom of speech, I just don't want Irene or LOCKDOWN, or scene, or any of the others to show up and shut down what should be a conversation on experiences with BFS gear instead of defending or being offended because one prefers a certain setup and downgrades another due to perceived or imagined realities. Thanks, Big Rick

First Foray Into BFS
You're right, it is. However, that just happened to be what I had handy to throw. I will go lighter to see just how well my new setup will handle it. My ultimate goal of this venture is 1/8 oz. I don't fish any lighter than that on casting gear. So, don't base your opinions or ideas of BFS on my experiences as they are limited and will stay that way....
